  1. Even if healthy, not sure she was built for the rough and tumble BIG.
  2. Player development seems to be a common concern in this forum. Based on recent history, it seems valid. Whitish and Simon were in the program for several years with this staff, and did not seem to improve. I think Cain has improved some from year to year, but can't help thinking, she could have been dominant. Hopefully, this is another area the staff is looking to improve upon. Izzy seems to have upped her game. What little we have seen of Trinity, she impressed. Maybe, this is being addressed. One can hope.
  3. Would you provide a little more explanation? The colors for example, Green good, Red, not so much? Rtg (rating), higher the number, the better? I like this info, just not sure how to interpret it. The individual stats are very interesting. Thank You.
  4. Not to beat a dead horse, but what excuse do you have for not carrying a full roster? We are allowed 15 scholarships. You can add walk-ons to that number. The only restriction I can find, you can only dress 15 players for a game. I read where we practiced with as few as 6 players at one time. Wouldn't a larger roster give options when players are injured? Wouldn't competition help hone skills? The only thing that comes to mind, this staff isn't very good at recruiting people to Lincoln. If they are concerned, players will transfer for lack of playing time, transfers happen. If they aren't playing, is it that big a loss? OK, done venting.
  5. What if transfers Craven and Scoggin weren't granted immediate eligibility?
  6. From Husker Hoops (I think) PersonalThe daughter of Peter and Julie Stewart, Annika was born April 17, 2002, in Minot, N.D. She has an older sister, Hannah, who was a starting forward as a senior at Iowa in 2018-19. Annika also has an older brother, Elijah, who attends the U.S. Naval Academy.Stewart chose Nebraska over Minnesota and Iowa because of the overall environment of the program."I really like the coaching staff and the family atmosphere," Stewart said. "I believe it is a special place with great support to thrive as a student-athlete. I'm excited to be a Husker!"
  7. This is "bugging" me (pun intended). When teams are punished for infractions, the NCAA takes scholarships away. When was the last time we had 15 ladies on scholarship? We brought in 4 transfers. Of them, how many were questionable because of previous injuries, or transfer eligibility? Roster management or mismanagement, seems to be a serious issue.
  8. You are probably right. I liked her effort. She seems to have some offensive skills. With experience, and some good coaching (?), her defense should improve. After all, she is probably 18 years old, and 4 games into Division I competition. Verdict still out, from my perspective.
  9. I thought her offense really kicked in towards the end of the 3rd quarter. I'm not quite as critical of her defense. We don't have guards to cover the perimeter effectively. We're asking our bigs to play defense 18 feet from the basket. Give them a break.
  10. That's why I said "no excuse". Doesn't mean they did a good job. Tons of phantom calls on our bigs, yet they ran into people all night long, and no calls.
  11. No excuse, but are those officials on Creighton's payroll?
  12. With Cayton and Dillard nursing injuries, Helms transferring, Brady, and now Porter with ankle injuries, we are really hurting at guard. I'm with Bugs, we need to fill out our roster. I think we've expressed similar concerns previous years.
  13. Flanery certainly has Williams number. I expect they put a bit more emphasis on this game than we do. But, getting routed, is concerning.
  14. If I were Creighton, I would defend end to end. Contest every inbound pass. Pressure, pressure, pressure. I think they are undermanned, and need to force turnovers or have an exceptional shooting game, to win. Regardless of their game plan, it is another excellent learning opportunity, for our Lady Huskers. It has been fun, watching the team develop and gel, game by game. GBR

    Schedule

I have a question, and apologize in advance, if not appropriate. Didn't think it was worthy of a thread, so will ask here. What happened to the "Idaho State Game Day" thread? Did it 'come off the rails' at some point?
  16. Any word on Brady? She has some of the length you mention, not so much on the speed. Porter might be an answer. Not sure Helms is physical enough. She got beat several times yesterday. Noticed, she spent most of the 2nd half watching. Is she 100%. Not asking you specifically Hud. Questions for anyone in the know. Thanks.
  17. We're 2 games in. It has been reported, the team practiced with as few as 6 healthy players at times. Isn't it a little early to be telling coach, who to play? Things will get much tougher when we start conference play. There will be plenty of time for critique later. I'm going to enjoy 2 - 0 for awhile.
  18. Scoggin and Cravens are settling in nicely. Should be an entertaining 2nd half.
  19. Is Idaho State a tough match? I see they clobbered Utah State in their only game to date. They've also had 4 games on their schedule cancelled. They could be chomping on the bit to get back on the court. Looking forward to see how our girls look in game 2.

    Schedule

A couple more games now appear on the BTN schedule. 12-20 versus Indiana at 3:00 PM, and 12-31 versus Northwestern at 1:00 PM. Both are on the regular BTN channel.
  21. It's only been one game, but will offer my amateur observations.. Agree on Stewart and Brown. I was expecting a good showing from Stewart, but Brown took me by surprise. That kid has some serious BBall IQ. Newcomers Cravens and Porter seemed to settle in nicely, after shaky starts. I think they too, will contribute a bunch. Sam, Izzy, and Kate form a nice nucleus to build around. Not sure what to say about Bourne. She is a stud. Kate, really looks to be in good condition. If she can avoid the fouls, she could be on the floor a lot. Sam might be the key. The ball is in her hands (literally and figuratively). Too early to get concerned, but if I were, it would center around point guard and ball security. ORU pressed very little. But, when they did, we were having trouble bringing the ball up (deja vu). The BIG has several teams that bring the pressure. We will need Helms and Scoggin to step up. (or possibly, someone else to heal up) Overall, I was very impressed by how well they played. And, they did this with with limited practice. Welcome back ladies!
  22. Do you have some kids in the house, using up the bandwidth?
  23. Kate had a nice quarter. Looks to be in good condition. Still not a leaper, but moving well.
  24. Recruiting has been disappointing at times. The current group, that recently signed, appears significantly better. This staff might be trending up (hopefully).
