  1. No, last's years starters on senior day were Ubel, Shields, Rivers, Gallegos and Talley. Nothing personal against Mike, but with so much on the line, he has no business starting on Sunday. You just can't take that chance against a good team.
  2. If you're in need of a good laugh, give this a read: http://journalstar.com/news/opinion/mailbag/letter-timing-of-chant-rude/article_bf7327a0-21c5-5e8d-a6df-b0256bb86225.html
  3. I couldn't disagree more. Sure, sometimes the answers are a bit cheesy (remember these are 18-22 year olds), but I usually get a good chuckle out of their answers, By the way, I'm still waiting for the release of Beneath the Surface with Mike Peltz. I want my copy autographed by the man himself.
  4. Unless you have direct knowledge of his situation, you're making a quite a large assumption.
  5. Deverell Biggs dismissed from the team Biggs will be working to finish up his degree in the hopes of transferring to a new school with one year of college eligibility left. http://www.omaha.com...SKERS/140128733 Looks like Trey Dickerson just became an even hotter commodity for Miles and staff. 7. Benny hit a couple of big jumpers last night when it seemed like Minnesota was about to make the full comeback. Tai on the other hand...I just don't know. I know he's a freshman, but it's like he was trying to do his best Biggs impression a few times, the way he was trying to weave through defenders. But all he did was get himself stuck and would either pick up his dribble with nowhere to go, or put up a wildly inaccurate shot. He's still got a long ways to go. At least he's starting to hit a few more of his free throws though.
  8. This is the primary beef with concessions at PBA. My typical routine at the Bob used to be two dogs and a large Pepsi before the start of the game. Now I don't even bother. The price for the same thing now at PBA is absolutely absurd, and there's no reason for me not to just stop at the drive thru somewhere after the game, or just eat something when I get home. I won't even consider going to the consessions unless prices go down at some point.
  9. Not exactly. He said Biggs blew 4 defensive plays/possessions in a row at one point when he pulled Biggs. By any chance, did you complain in any other thread about defense in the 2nd half or last 10 minutes? It's not enough to score points on the offensive end if you can't get stops on the defensive end. Who else blew 4 defensive possessions in a row? I lost count of how many times Leslie chased his man to the top of the key, only to have his man cut back to the basket, catch a pass and get an easy layup. He was slow to recover and got left in the dust time after time tonight.
  10. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/gamecast?gameId=400498695 St. Francis Brooklyn topples Miami, 66-62 Associated Press CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Jalen Cannon's layup with 1:02 left in overtime put St. Francis Brooklyn ahead for good, and the Terriers knocked off defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Miami 66-62 on Friday night. Wayne Martin scored 17 points, Cannon finished with 14 and Ben Mockford added 11 for the Terriers (1-0), who won despite missing their first 13 shots of the game. Donnavan Kirk scored 16, Garrius Adams had 15 and Rion Brown scored 11 for the Hurricanes (0-1), who shot only 31 percent. Adams made a layup with 2.9 seconds left in regulation to tie the game, but Miami never led in the extra session. Miami missed all 15 of its tries from 3-point range, the last of those a potential go-ahead try by Davon Reed after the Hurricanes forced a turnover down by two in the final seconds of overtime. The Hurricanes had made at least one in all 172 of their previous games at Bank United Center, the team's on-campus arena. The Hurricanes unveiled three banners before the game to commemorate last season's ACC regular-season title, ACC tournament title and berth in the NCAA Sweet 16. They'll be among a very small number of reminders of what Miami was a year ago. Only 13.3 percent of the scoring from last season is back, and only one returnee -- Brown -- scored more than 47 points for that 29-win club. The `Canes were senior-laden a year ago, with Kenny Kadji, Durand Scott, Trey McKinney Jones, Julian Gamble and Reggie Johnson all exhausting their eligibility and star guard Shane Larkin leaving for the NBA two years early. So it's a new-look Miami team now, and the start wasn't exactly smooth, either. Even after the 0 for 13 start, St. Francis still found a way to lead 27-26 at the half. The Terriers finished the half 10 for 21 after that dreadful beginning while Miami was a mere 8 for 29 from the field in the opening 20 minutes. Martin's layup with 7:47 left gave St. Francis a 47-40 lead, but the Hurricanes answered with a 10-2 run -- taking the lead on a pair of free throws by Adams with 3:17 remaining.
  11. We parked just north of 7th & X for the UNK game. It's really not that bad of a hike to the pedestrian walkway into PBA. It certainly beats $10 for the Haymarket Park or festival lots.
  12. The festival lot is run by SMG and you don't need a pass. The info I saw said event parking for the festival lot runs from $3 to $10 depending on the event. I think I remember reading in that insert magazine that came in the paper a couple months ago that it was going to be $5 for basketball but who knows if that was accurate or if that has changed. Given it was $4 at the Devaney, $5 seems like something that would be charged this year. I contacted SMG and they confirmed that the lot is open to the public and costs $10 per game. Which lot are you talking about that cost $10 as person? The 3 lots on the link all show $5. I want to make sure I avoid the $10 lot as that is crazy expensive to park for a game. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=205315795 The orange lot that says Pinnacle Bank Arena Festival Parking.
  13. Has anyone been able to confirm whether or not they'll be charging to park in Lots 19, 20 or 21 at Haymarket Park?
  14. It can't possibly be any worse than parking at Devaney was. Have a look at my archive:
  15. They're secret, because as far as the schools are concerned they never happened. They aren't allowed to make any sort of comments, release stats, etc. Regarding my avatar, I have quite the story for you. First of all, my avatar comes from a sign I made and took to the February 2nd Ohio State game last season. Fast forward to August. my friends and I were guests at the Eaton-Abdouche wedding (Gregory Eaton is the Nebrasketball video coordinator), along with Tim Miles and a few other assistant coaches. Kiley (the bride) assigned us to the table right next to Miles' at the reception, knowing we'd be pretty psyched to sit that close to him. About half way through the reception Pat Norris (Nebraska equipment manager) goes over and shows Miles a picture of my sign on his phone. A couple of minutes later Miles walks up to our table, holds the phone up and says, "Alright, I wanna know who's responsible for this." I raise my hand. He then asks what prompted me to create something like that. So I give him the back story, explaining that it comes from his persona when he's either barking at a player or the officials. I tell him that in the heat of the moment he sort of resembles a little rat terrier, which he gets a pretty good kick out of. He then shakes my hand, and thanks us all for being supporters of the program. Then, just before walking away, he looks at me and says, "From the bottom of my heart, fuck you." Well all, including Miles, bust out in side splitting laughter as he meanders back to his table. From there we proceeded to get even more drunk, thanks to the open bar, and a good time was had by all.

  18. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/uc/2013/06/06/uc-to-play-nebraska-in-basketball-next-season/ UC to play Nebraska in basketball next season 06/06/13 at 3:16pm by Bill Koch Comments UC will play Big Ten member Nebraska at Fifth Third Arena next season, the first of a home-and-home agreement with the Cornhuskers that will see the Bearcats travel to Lincoln in 2014-15. UC officials say the contract has not been signed yet, but the schools have a verbal agreement. Nebraska will be in its second season under head coach Tim Miles. The Cornhuskers were 15-18 last year, 5-13 in the Big Ten after going 12-18 in 2011-12. Nebraska’s last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 1998. UC and Nebraska have met three times in basketball, with the Bearcats winning all three games. Their most recent meeting was on Dec. 31, 1996, in Puerto Rico, with UC winning 84-73. The Nebraska game is part of a UC non-league schedule for 2013-14 that includes games against North Carolina State at Fifth Third Arena, Xavier at U.S. Bank Arena, New Mexico in Albuquerque and Pittsburgh in the Jimmy V Classic in New York. 20. You're absolutely right. I don't see this as a serious offense, and there's virtually no chance of any punishment. Let it be a learning experience for him. I just hope he had insurance. Way too many people take a chance and drive without it, and it really bites you in the ass if you get in any kind of accident without it.
  21. Nope. Tosh isn't funny, and he steals a lot of material from Reddit.
