Sometimes a cleansing can do wonders.

Amy has her in the wrong position as noted by many posters previously. She is definitely not a forward/post. In the big ten you need a lot of beef/strength. She did ok during non conference but once in the conference things ramp up physically big time. I don't think Kendall will leave. Too many positives here including she is best friends with VB setter Kennedi Orr. As for getting beat on defense I notice that as well. Jazz Shelley as much as anybody. I have to think it's partially the scheme and taking a partial fake by the player they are guarding and then getting beat as they try to change direction.

Wow. That properly called time out did really seem to settle us down and make a big difference.

Mich. plays at home tomorrow night against Mich St. on BTN. They play at Iowa next Sunday on ESPN 2 about the same time we play Northwestern. I wonder when Leigha Brown will be back. They said this past weekend she had been practicing some.
-
Could be a closer game than some think. Since Sydney Hilliard quit the team after we thrashed them in Jan. they have been playing better on the road and at home. Beat Iillinois and Purdue at home. This is an opportunity to show that we can be a better road team than we have shown so far in conference.

If Iowa beats Michigan on Sunday at home they could end up in a tie with Ohio State for the regular season championship. That would be depressing. Go Michigan. If that happens Maryland and Mich could be tied for 3rd and 4th and Mich could be in our bracket. If Iowa loses they could be in our bracket. Of course this assumes there will be no other upsets and that my math is correct.

I think hard cold facts are one thing but speculation can go rampant in situations like this. I would suggest that out of fairness to the team we stick to facts as they come out and forgo any speculation.

Coach seems the type to have run every thing through her boss before dismissing any one from the team or suspending an assistant coach.
-
Cayton and Moriarty certainly did today. Good for their confidence. Maybe it will be Ruby next time.
-
Lincoln Journal Star today. This was the first game since Saturday’s news that associate head coach Chuck Love and starting guard Ashley Scoggin are no longer with the team. Love was suspended with pay for a "personnel matter" and isn’t expected back. Scoggin was removed from the roster
-
Chuck Love will not be back.

Opportunities today. Who will step up at guard? Porter, Cayton, Moriarity or Brown. Not how many minutes you get but how you use them.
-
All that was said was that "it was a personal matter".

We have a lot of great coaches in the Big Ten. Part of development is staying one step ahead of the competition. We have had many freshmen play well their first year. In their second and beyond years the other teams now have film on them and look to exploit their weaknesses. I think the competition level is also up this year in conference.

All I know is without Alexis we would likely have several more losses and if she would have played more at Mich. St. we would have had a win rather then a 3 point loss. In 11 minutes of playing time she had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Issie and Bella playing a combined 48 minutes had a total of 12 points and 3 rebounds. Alexis had a total of 2 fouls for that game. So I think she just needed more playing time which she got in the next game. She has game to game consistency which is crucial. Wait until she has a year under her belt and has played all the Big ten teams.

It seems to me that we play considerably worse on the road than at home this year compared to other years. The competition has been pretty much balanced between home and away. On the road we are 2-6 being outscored by a total of 23 points. At home we are 6-1 outscoring the opposition by a total of 94 points. We can say we are a young team but looking at the years of playing basketball versus the revised eligibility due to covid we have 6 players that are juniors or above. Last night we had 5 (with Scoggins out) of the 8 that played most of the minutes. This group of upper classmen need to set the standard in their play to win away games. I didn't see that last night. Too often especially on defense they looked like spectators. Another thing is taking care of the ball. Way too many of our pass attempts are low % ones that often result in turnovers. This is a big key especially on away games where each possession is of vital importance.
-
One of the big issues I see which has occurred too often all year long is that we have too many poor inbounds passes. Whether we do it under our basket or the opponents we have way too many turnovers. Don't remember us struggling quite this much other years. Seems like we used to have someone taller in past years doing the inbounding or maybe my memory is failing me.

Putting the NET and other ratings aside how we do in the Big Ten Conf Tournament will have a lot to do with our seeding in the NCAA Tour. It would be great to get to a 6 or even a 5 seed. Can't look too far ahead as we have 4 reg. season games to win. At least we have already played 3 of those teams and should know what to expect. The last home game against Northwestern will be big but we have a few more days to prepare for them.

Red Don's post summed up my feelings to a tee. I have been going to most of the WBB games for a lot of years and have never enjoyed a season as much as this one. I went to a couple of mens games during this time as well but I prefer Women's BB. No comparison. Women's game to me is more pure and they play under the rim where men play over the rim in todays games. GBR

Our strength of schedule presently is 69. As for ratings at this point I could care less. I think it gives us some added incentive. The most important statistic as we approach the end of the regular season is the NET ratings where we sit at 18th. The longer the season goes on the more statistically accurate they become. We are in good position with four games left & we are still ahead of Iowa 22 and Ohio State 28. But behind Maryland 14, Michigan 15 and Indiana 17.

I agree but this is the first time she has gotten to that point minute wise. Hope those minutes continue.
-
Time will tell. Should be interesting. Good problem to have. As the team motto stresses competition.

Barring injury Allison Weidner will be a starter next year if not before that. The reason is that she continues to improve at an amazing rate. Much bigger upside than a typical upperclassman.
