I have found over the years that the rates for both the OWH and LJS are negotiable. Some times you may have to cancel for a month to get the best rate going forward.
-
In an article about football today towards the end Sam Mc. had the following tidbit in the OWH: As NU women’s basketball prepares for a huge Valentine’s Day game against Indiana, it’s high time the team’s top guards Jaz Shelley and Sam Haiby kick their games into the highest gear they can manage. It’s clear Haiby is playing through shoulder pain after an injury from the first IU game, but February and March are when guards make shots, draw fouls and put teams on their backs. True, some of the Huskers’ best teams relied on Karen Jennings and Kelsey Griffin, two of the programs’ best players all time. Alexis Markowski may get there one day — and that’s no hyperbole. But it’s a lot to ask a freshman, as well as she’s playing, to carry this team to a deep run in March.

I watched Mich St and Mich last night. Two things became quite obvious to me, First it's very very hard to win on the road in the big Ten. Experience is big but you also need to play really good defense especially in defending outside. 2nd Alexis two main competitors were both playing each other. Ekh from Mich St. played 38 minutes and didn't score until the 4th qtr when she hit 2 threes. She had 2 reb and 2 turnovers. The other was Phelia from Mich and she played 30 minutes and had 9 pts and 5 turnovers. Not having Brown cost Mich the game as her replacement Phelia played a poor game. In listening to the pathetic announcers they felt it was a tossup for Big Ten freshman of the Year between Alexis M. and the other two previously mentioned. One even picked Phelia stating that consistency was very important. No-one has been more consistent then Alexis. Glad they don't have a vote.

She was also a great interview. Very humble.

As always (14 straight losses to Maryland) their height, length, athleticism and experience at guard which is 4 of their positions gave us fits especially for Jazz and Sam. Their guards with the exception of Katie Bentzen are all 6'2"" or taller and we had a lot of problem with that since our guards are between 5'7" and 5'10". This is the only team we play like that and I'm glad we only play them once. Michigan and Maryland are a notch above the rest of the pack. Mich to win regular season big ten and Maryland the conference tournament. That's OK with me as long as Iowa doesn't get squat.
-
I didn't get to see the first qtr. Did they say why brown was out?
-
Wow listening to the posts here maybe we should cancel the rest of the season. This is going to happen once in awhile. Most of the time it's matchups. I'm sure after we beat michigan by 21 they felt the same way. Look for a turnaround at Ohio St.
-
Sam needed to take more time off the clock on our last possession and Penn St probably wouldn't have had time to score so easily.
-
I still think we can end up in the top four. Iowa plays Mich and Indiana twice and Maryland once. Need to take care of business one game at a time. I would hate to think that the game we lost to Mich state would keep us out of a top 4 finish as we never should have lost that game. Poor substitution strategy cost us that one.

Iowa is not in the same league with Michigan and a healthy Indiana. They haven't beaten any one of note (rated). They beat us twice. One they earned due to uncanny shooting and one they didn't earn due to us missing Haiby and Shelley and decent refs. Both games were within one possession with 3 minutes left. Iowa still has to play both Michigan and Indiana twice and also Maryland. If we take care of business at home and we upset either Maryland or Ohio St. on the road we could end up ahead of Iowa in the final regular season standings. -
How close the game is depends on how much leeway they allow Rutgers with their street ball defense.
-
I checked on how Maggie Mendleson and her Fremont High School in Ogden Utah were doing and both are doing quite well. They played in the Elite Nike Tournament in Arizona and won a couple and lost couple there. It will be interesting how she fits in next year. Even more depth then we have this year.

I have a feeling that our attendance is going to increase some this year but big time next year. -
You summed up my feelings precisely as I watched the game.

As previously stated by someone on this forum Iowa has no idea how or desire to play defense. -
I really enjoyed Bludder bitch and moan at the end of their loss to Ohio St. tonight. Even though an Ohio St. loss may have been better for us It did my heart good to see the Prima Donnas from Iowa go down in front of their own fans.

All i'm saying is we had a good lead in the 4th qtr and Purdue as a lot of other teams will do in that situation gets very physical with their full court press as they have nothing to lose. Ashley is not good in those situations as you need good ball handlers and we weren't going to take threes at that point but just get the ball down the court using up some time and get the ball inside or get fouled and make free throws. I can understand that coach likes to bring Allison off the bench to run point for Jaz or Sam which I can live with. But there are other critical times she should be in there.
-
That still doesn't answer my question as to why Allison wasn't in there when Purdue was pressing successfully in the fourth qtr and we couldn't get the ball down the court. She was sitting on the bench for a long time during this. Again she only played 7 minutes the whole 2nd half.
-
I totally agree. But since that won't happen let's just give her more minutes. She only played 7 minutes the second half. When the other team is pressing we need Weidner in there instead of Scoggins as she is a lot better ball handler. Yes Scoggins can hit 3 's but you have to get the ball down the court before that can happen. Weidner was on fire the first half and sat way too much the second.

WBB NET ratings released today for first time this season (Now as of 1/28/2022)
HUD replied to HUD's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
Latest Net ratings has us going from 13th to 11th and leading the conference. Still early but more meaningful each week. -
Mission Accomplished.
-
We need a big win tonight. Sounds like we will have most players back but will have some playing limited minutes. We are definitely much better then our conference record and will start the climb up. We are still the only conference team to have beat Michigan and our two close losses to Iowa when we were missing key players doesn't look so bad as Iowa has been on fire lately winning big time at Minnesota and at Penn State.
-
ESPN profile coming out of high school was a 3 star rated at 88. More proof that ratings aren't everything.

Don't forget the impact our state of the art facilities has on recruiting. Between the practice facility along with Pinnacle and the new 150 million dollar athletic facility which will be done in two years we have an an advantage on most teams.
