Our offensive system seems to work the best when we have guys on the floor who can shoot and the ball doesn't stop for long in anyone's hands. What you're describing seems more like what we saw with Alonzo Verge. To me, that style isn't as fun to watch.
-
Well. Maybe. I'm not encouraged by his shooting accuracy. I just don't think he fits with what we would want to do. Or, at the very least, we probably have better options. I would jump at John Tonje for example. I would jump at Chucky. I think if you add those two to the stable of guards we already have, it gives us a veteran presence and guys who can shoot the damn ball. Where would Hunter fit in that picture?

If two former Nebraska prep players from the same graduating class, who went elsewhere to play college ball, both entered the portal and considered returning to the state to finish their careers, I'd take the guy who's already used to wearing red and white.

Thank goodness he thought he was too good for us. #dodgedabullet

All 5 of his points came within a span of about 2 minutes of game time: Two layups, one of which was an and-one. And then he palmed the ball dribbling in the open floor with no defender nearby and turned it over.

NCAA Tournament Needs (Building a Team)

He's also a super senior so he would come in with a lot of experience and maturity, which is really important. -

I know it might be premature since there's only a rumor that we reached out as soon as he entered the portal; HOWEVER, I think John Tonje meets the athleticism eyeball test. -

OK, so let's just wargame this a bit. Let's assume we get some of the players about whom there seems to be some credible rumors. Chucky Hepburn and John Tonje were both ~39% 3-point shooters this last season. Grant Nelson is a career 30+% 3-point shooter who's listed at 6'11 and put up about 18 and 9 this season. Add those three to the list of guys who, as of now, are still listed on the roster, and what do we need to add to be that 4-7 finisher you're talking about that can do well in the tourney? Is that good enough to the point that we can just add one more piece? If so, what one more piece would we need to add? -

Fairly new Princeton fan here. Don't overlook my Tigers. Cats eat birds. Just sayin. -
He missed this past year ('22-23) with injury. He played '21-22 and '20-21. The '20-21 year doesn't count against anyone's eligibility, as I understand it. So, doesn't he have 3 years?

I better get my exorcism going.

2000s. It's not a single game that we lost. That happens all the time. It was a crazy series of events that cost us one of the best recruits we'd had in a VERY LONG TIME and people who were active on the board back then are aware how gutted I felt about it and couldn't even say his name for like a year. Left me feeling like we were actually cursed. I can't believe it's not the first thing that popped into everyone's minds. -

Working on getting the exorcism set up as we speak. -
Nelson is hella talented, though. I'd take him in a heartbeat. For a year? Great. For two years? Over the moon. Maybe NBA teams would want to see what he could do in a P5 conference.

Wrong decade. Think "curse." What's the first event that happened to our program that made you say "we're just cursed." The most "Nebrasketball" thing ever. If you made a list of the most Nebrasketball things ever, this would probably be #1. -

It's hard to watch games on that floor. Someone was trying to be far too clever when they designed that awful thing. -
Raise your hand if you know what a relic is. I have one. A Nebraska basketball relic, actually. Or, more precisely, an anti-relic. I've recently received it and, if you've been following this board for a decade or more, you would think it very appropriate that this particular anti-relic has fallen into my hands of all people. It is representative of a very, very dark moment in our basketball past. I cannot tell you what it is or where I got it, but I would be willing to share a picture with either @Huskerpapa or @jimmykc and they would be able to quickly verify it is the goods. But they have to PROMISE not to tell anyone what it is because reasons. However, if someone wants to guess what it relates to, I'll tell ya if you guess right. I've given some good hints in this post. I will shortly be looking for a priest to do an exorcism. If we make the NCAA tourney next year, you can thank me then.

The stars are starting to align.
-
True. I just don't know who's out there that we could get. I would like a guy with Blaise's size but bouncier and more durable.
-
At the time I was musing about it, everyone was saying he'd be gone.
-
I may have mentioned this before, but in my mind awhile back, I mulled over this starting rotation for next season: PG Chucky Hepburn SG Jamarques Lawrence SG John Tonje PF Isaac Traudt PF Grant Nelson It's interesting how each of the guys who would need to transfer in are either in the portal or are credibly rumored to be considering it. Maybe the stars can align.

I like him and his teams play hard. Ball stops in the PG's hands for too long for what I like to watch.
