Holy smokes! How sad.

Delving into this PSU thing a little further: Rothstein projects two UNC transfers to leap into the PSU starting lineup. Puff Johnson spent 3 seasons at UNC. As a junior (Covid sophomore) he only commanded 16 minutes and scored 4 ppg at UNC. But he'll start at PSU? D'Marco Dunn played just 10 min/game and scored 2.7 ppg his sophomore year at UNC last year. But Rothstein projects him as a starter too. I mean, if they were freshmen and didn't contribute much, I could see them blossoming somewhere else. And maybe they'll be all that. But their historical performance so far wouldn't afford much basis for that kind of projection.

Interestingly, he has PSU 12th but lists them as his sleeper team and he projects all five of PSU's starters will be transfers, new to the team this season. What they miss out on is the opportunity to bond with their teammates and develop cohesion on the floor. It takes awhile to figure out how the new faces fit in and for players to settle into their roles. We're a better team in November and December if some of that happens in Spain in July and August. This foreign trip, we're a bit hamstrung in that regard because of the short roster. But we probably don't have a very difficult non-con so it probably won't matter much.

If it wasn't a silver bullet or a wooden stake through the heart, I don't think this thread can be killed that easy.

OK, with that in mind, I'm working out a starting lineup for Spain. Check this: PG Ahron Ulis SG Jamarques Lawrence SF Ramel Lloyd, Jr. PF Brice Williams C CJ Wilcher OK, tell me ONE THING Rienk Mast has that CJ Wilcher lacks. OK, besides that. Well, I mean, OK, but other than that, too. Listen, CJ has a big body. He can DO this! He'll go into the season as our heir-apparent at Center. Kinda by default, but, y'know, still ... Go CJ!!!

Well, there would have been a lot less ... aromatic smoke ... wafting through the air.

But it's like a week in Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid. Watch a few Husker games. Eat some paella. And you don't even have to go to practice.

1. Anyone going? Fans I'm talking about. The AD put together a package I think about 3,000 bucks to join the team and go everywhere they go. Anyone jump at that one? For the record, I did not. 2. Nice to see Brice Williams made it to town, but he's going to be behind everyone else on being in basketball shape and picking up the offense and defense prior to Spain trip. Hopefully we get some sense of what he can do. 3. Sounds like Keisei is doing Japanese Olympic stuff while Rienk is doing Dutch basketball stuff and won't be making the trip. Does anyone know of anyone else, though, who won't be going or won't be available? Sounds like Juwan Gary is either 100% or close. Allick had some kind of toe surgery? Anyone know his status? Anyone else in the "out" or "doubtful" category? 4. Do all the players have all their passports together this time?
