What does this say about December 3

To say John Bishop rubs me the wrong way would be like saying Mt. Everest is tall or the Pacific Ocean is big. -

Up to #42 this morning, having not played anyone. Others losing in front of us or teams we've beaten doing well? -

The coach was trying HARD to get T'd up. He was out of the coaching box and the ref was ignoring him. His assistants were trying to pull him back and he resisted them and kept jawing at the official. Eventually, the official was like "OK, you want a T, I'll give you a T." -

Colorado St is pretty good. We thought Duquesne was pretty good and I think CSU is better. And then Team Voldemort had an uncharacteristically horrid shooting performance. Don't expect them to have such an off night when we play them. -
At home.

So, we didn't really change position relative to the field but Iowa losing to OU moves us up to 6th in the league. -

Problem is CSU didn't beat Creighton because CSU was just great. They beat Creighton because Creighton had an extremely off night. Be nice if their top 2 shooters went a combined 3 for 15 from downtown against us. I'd feel pretty good about our chances of beating them if they shot that bad against us. -
Team Voldemort ain't even gonna hit 50.

Colorado St boutta make a big jump and leapfrog us. Creighton won't be top 10 when they come to town. Beating them won't mean as much but I'll still take it. -
Team Voldemort in some trouble right now.

A little more shuffling as the night progresses. We've slid up to #43 and Michigan has dropped to #41. We're also a 3/4 gap wedge away from Iowa at #38. -

By the way, don't look now, but our non-seniors look like this: PG Jamarques Lawrence, So SG CJ Wilcher, Jr SG Brice Williams, Jr PF Juwan Gary, Jr PF Rienk Mast, Jr SG Sam Hoiberg, So SG Eli Rice, Fr SG Ramel Lloyd, Fr PF Matar Diop, Fr PG Ahron Ulis, Jr Oh, and we already have a couple of high-ranking shooting guards signed for next year. Both lefties. Like Keisei. -

I think we're at worst a 3-loss team going into 2024. But each of those potential losses is also potentially winnable. I think the odds are very low that we'll be undefeated at the end of December. But it's entirely possible we're only a 1- or 2-loss team entering the new year. This does not seem like the kind of team that would allow themselves to lose to Incarnate Word. So, I'm thinking we ought to take care of business against everyone below us the rest of '23 for sure, except less than 50/50 shot at beating each of Team Voldemort, Michigan St, and Kansas St. I think we could win any of those. But I think we could also lose all three. And, right now, I think the odds are we lose two of them. I could easily see us being just a two-loss team to begin the New Year. -

It just updated. We jumped to 44th. Michigan remains at 40th because it was a close loss to a higher ranked Memphis squad. -

Somehow, we drifted down to #47 before things get updated tonight. However, we won and covered. Michigan was 7 spots ahead of us at #40 and they lost to Memphis. And Oregon St played Baylor a lot closer than they played us, so maybe that'll help us too. It's possible we'll be #6 in the Big Ten when the night is over. -

Never have I ever begun to hate a team and a player after the opening tip as much as I hated these guys and particularly Mr. Floppy. He was a sneaky rat bastard and got some cheap calls early, but the refs eventually wised up and didn't reward his antics. However, he should have gotten a flop warning and then gotten called for it. -

If you were facing a team that had two guards who accounted for almost half of the teams’ average scoring (38 of their 79 ppg) and you were Fred Hoiberg, how would you defend them? -
