  1. Good plan except for Moses, who may be out for several weeks....
  2. I think most of Husker BBall nation has faith in Miles....last year alone should've bought him some equity..... That being said, it's not just the losses, but the way our team has looked even in some of the wins. Unorganized, undisciplined, unfocused. Some of that is coaching too.
  3. Tai is one of the strangest players I think I've observed. First of all, I'm a Tai fan. I hope he improves and figures it out. I think we all do, though some probably realize this hope is fading.... I met him last year, good kid, he was really good to my son and spent extra time talking with him. The kid was a wide eyed kid last year adjusting to life and I could tell he was a bit homesick based off some of the things he said. I had high hopes after reading about him working out everyday with Terran and seeing his improved play in the World Cup. He blocked friggin' Kyrie Irving for pete's sake. I think he has the physical tools. He's athletic. He has more length than say, Sek Henry and is quicker and more explosive than say, Ryan Anderson. But I think his confidence level fluctuates not only in each game, but within each 30 seconds. One play he's hesitant, the next he drives and attacks, the next he shoots, the next he passes up a shot and is all too eager to get rid of the ball. He's just hard to figure out. So, let's give Fuller much more minutes, it can't hurt!
  4. This game actually gave me a glimpse of what I fear husker basketball could become again with a few more bad losses. (sorry Norm, but attending 90% of the home games since 1990 have me kind of battered and bruised) The 60% full arena, the 1/2 full student section, 1/2 into it, zero energy from the crowd, the absolutely stellar halftime entertainment of the junior varsity league shooters shooting free throws....multiple "for your entertainment....the SCARlets...." stuff....it was deja vu of some of the tougher years. And I agree Norm, all those losses you pointed out were really bad. But none of those came a year after our team had the success it did and raised the bar and expectation level. None of those teams had a Naismith finalist on them, a returning first team all league player, I'm not trying to be argumentative, but I can see hhcdimes point here. I don't think any of us diehards want to see the program take a step back. And while some fans have adjusted the expectations for this season, the non-diehards, the ones that fill PBA to give it the home court advantage...they haven't adjusted, and I just hope we don't start a slippery spiral downward. For the record, I'm NOT predicting that we will...but I had too many deja vu moments, in a new arena tonight....
  5. But a home loss to IW is gonna be a blemish on the resume, regardless....not giving up on the team/season, but these losses sting, and make for a fairly quiet drive back to Omaha....
  6. Paging Sergei V???
  7. For pure humor, my glass half full observations: The smelly guy who usually sits next to me and the rest of my entire row didn't show up tonight. I sprawled out like I used to at the Bob. Free Runza or Hamburger with the purchase of a medium soda and medium fry Easy in and Easy out from the Festival parking lot We have real world, solid evidence that Fuller should play way more than Tai
  8. Amen. Miles said on the radio that "hey, he's 6'5", at some point you have to man up and put a chest into him...."
  9. All that hexing/vexing curse crap....don't put that on me!!!
  10. Yep. Reminded me of all those days I could sit at Devaney, put my coat in the row below me, and sprawl out without so much a care about taking up seats around me. I'd say PBA was at 60% capacity tonight, and that may be generous. The 300 level was about 15% full....
  11. First of all, I just joined the board a day or so ago, so I apologize in advance if this topic has been exhausted prior to my joining. Curious as to your opinions on our On-Court leadership, and how it's structured? Initially, you would think Terran and Shavon are the two "leaders" based on production and stats. Terran is very emotional and I think that helps his game, and at times hurts his game. I'm sure he has no problem getting on guys when needed, but wonder if everyone responds to him?? Shavon is smooth and steady, shows some emotion, but he strikes me as more of a "lead by example" type and doesn't seem as vocal. In the locker room, who's our "voice" of leadership?? (besides the coaches) Rivers? As far as chemistry, I didn't even think about this being a factor this year since we returned virtually 90% of the team from last year. But Sipple's article in the LJS addressed this, and it got me thinking...do we have some chemistry issues this year? I think the players get along fine, but you wonder if on court chemistry has been affected somewhat. I haven't seen any glaring examples, but curious if anybody had any thoughts??
  12. If I hear that South Dakota's guards and wings attacked the rim offensively and tightly defended against the three, I'm going to puke a small amount...
  13. Oh you are going to be a great addition to the board. Welcome! Thank-you Silverbacked....Glad to be here!!
  14. Totally a moot point, but I wonder how Nate Hawkins would've factored in this year? Had decent size but wasn't sure he was a long term fit. I thought he probably could have developed into a player giving us Webster's production, at least....
  15. I know this isn't a score prediction, but I'm going to be really interested to see if the CU loss keeps some fans away on Wed. night. I'll be picking up my friend and heading down straight after work, but I have to admit, I could be doing a lot of other things, and feel the crowd won't be as large, naturally, due to the opponent and Sunday's letdown. Sorry if I should have started a separate thread on this...I didn't feel it worthy to have it's own.
  16. Where'd you read that, Peltzy? Today's OWH. Here it is: McDermott said he and Nebraska Coach Tim Miles talked on Monday. "We bounced some things off each other about things we can do to make our teams better." McDermott said. "We've done that every year, so it's not atypical." The two men are good friends, and McDermott said he didn't try to needle Miles about improving to 11-0 in their coaching matchups. "He told me I'm not his daddy until we win 13 in a row," McDermott said, laughing. "It's all in good fun." Perhaps Tim is giving Greg too many good ideas and Greg is giving Tim some bad ones? Just kidding. Perhaps.
  17. Last year everything was brand new and magical. Hope some of that shine isn't already coming off....I don't think it is...but I've noticed a little staleness from the crowd at times.
  18. Interesting to read that Tim and Greg McDermott spoke on Monday to bounce ideas off each other and give each other tips on how to make each other's teams better. Greg said they have done that every time and that it was nothing new. Miles told Greg he isn't his Daddy until CU beats NU 13 times in a row....really hope that doesn't happen.
  19. I re-watched the game after I got back from the game. Upon further review, #21 Zierden hit all three of those 3's on Tai. Tai either lost him or crept inside and forgot him. On one play, Tai completely left him, tried to trap, then scrambled as Zierden was wide open near the CU bench. Those three's just killed us. Both Tim and Terran said it was their game plan not to let #21 shoot any three's. Obviously, he shot 6 of them, so that plan was not executed. At least Tim didn't simply say: "we didn't execute" I'm not one to give up on Tai, I'm intrigued by his length and athleticism...but I'm afraid he needs some mental adjustments more than anything right now.
  20. Excellent question/point. Walt banged with some of the Big 10's best last year, notably Payne from MSU and Hammonds from Purdue, and can't bang against a 6'8" guy from UNO??
  21. Very good point TimSmiles, we rarely scored easy baskets in transition, I even commented to the guys next to me, we just weren't getting some of those baskets in transition like we usually do.
  22. Crowd was pretty good at times, but certainly got tired at times. I didn't think it was going to be close to the Wisconsin atmosphere simply because of the stakes on the line at the time. Sometimes the team / crowd feed off each other. Thought it would've exploded after Petteway's dunks, but the team just couldn't sustain anything.
  23. I really want to see how we come out. Miles basically said the reason we got down 23-7 to UNO was because of the Rhode Island game. Well, we can't keep letting previous losses dictate us coming out of the gate really slow and playing bad. We need some leadership and confidence to form, really fast.
  24. We don't win most of those 10 games last years without Walt's outside shooting. He had some HUGE three's in the Wisconsin game at the most important times. We have got to get him going and playing like himself. If his shot isn't falling, then he has to contribute in other ways to justify being out there over Moses.
