  1. If Vucetic put on 20 lbs, then he would still have 20 lbs to go. He is 7'1"!!! 250 lbs would be a good target weight for a Center if he is 6'9" or 6'10", but not 7'1". And maybe Miles doesn't force either of them out of the door... Maybe he just pulls their scholarships and says "These are the criteria for you to hold a scholarship. If you meet these criteria, then you will have a scholarship." If they don't want to be considered a walkon until they meet that criteria, then they are free to transfer.
  2. I agree with your theory Hooper what is the reasoning for giving up on Vucetic? Is it strength and conditioning? Because he is 7'1" and only weighs 230 lbs. At 7'1" he realistically needs to gain 40 lbs and an incredible amount of strength to be any sort of factor. I don't think that it's about either Vucetic or Parker, because I personally would be surprised if either one had a scholarship next season. Neither one of the two has the physical build and/or skills to be sucessful in the B1G. They could maybe do a little better in a mid-major conference that is less physically demanding. If both Vucetic and Parker scholarships open up: Miles could still potentially get a grad-transfer in this class that would only have 1 year of eligibility (in addition to Atewe, Tummala, and Smith), so that spot would open up again next year, in addition to the spot currently held by Gallegos, which would give Nebraska 2 available scholarships for the 2014 class.
  3. This could be the case, but I would be surprised if Atewe was mature enough at this point to realize that he may need a redshirt year to develop. That is something that he may not realize until he gets to Lincoln and gets on the floor with the other players. I think most recruits just assume that they are ready to get on the floor, because they have done well against high school competition they have faced up to this point.
  4. It's been reported by others here that BP recently got a new place with Petteway and Shields. I believe one player will be moving on prior to next season, and that the player in question is Vooch. I don't really think that Parker moving into a new place with Petteway and Shields means that his scholarship is safe. I have no inside information and his scholarship may very well be safe, but I just don't think his current living arrangements really offer any sort of concrete evidence for that.
  5. Doug McDermott is also 6'8", 225 lbs. Sai Tummala's style of play could be similar to McDermott's. Not a banger, but a skilled ball handler/shooter with 3 point range. Looks to be not as polished as McDermott but much more athletic Agree 100%

  16. My only point in the Schliep comparison is that just because a coach says a player is extremely athletic doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot. As I've said before, I tend to agree with your analysis of Sai and believe he's better than Bronsen RIGHT NOW. I was just pointing out that being extremely athletic doesn't always mean a lot. Looking back, the Nebrasketballer used the athleticism along with a number of other supporting points. I would still say his year at Michigan doesn't say much regarding his abilities. But who would you have put as a better athlete than Schliep? All-around? I was only there for his last 3 years... and don't you DARE say Kyle Marks. Jason Dourisseau Schliep had a higher verticle, quicker shuttle time and was much stronger than Dourisseau. Never tested 40s or any straight-line running, but guessing Bronsen would've beat him there, too. Pretty Sure Jason Dourisseau brought the backboard down vs Tennessee. That's more athletic than anything I ever saw Shliep do. Also, you're talking about testing, not athleticism on the court duing a game with the ball in the player's hands. And again, comparing Tummala to Schliep doesn't hold water. Tummala's athleticism is only valuable, because he can handle the ball well, he has a good mid range jump shot, he can stroke the 3, and he has good post moves. It doesn't matter if a player can jump out of the gym or run faster than everyone else, if they can't do anything with the ball in their hands.

  18. Ha! Maybe in the 90s... yeah
  19. Really? That's odd, because I hear former Husker football players say all the time that their practices were higher level of competition than games.
