  1. Well, maybe we can win most of the remaining noncons......
  2. Sounds good to me. Listened to the last 15 minutes on the radiio. How bad is Rivers hurt?
  3. Cheer 'em on, guys. I'm off to the movies....
  4. Tim Miles has to feel a little bit like the Black Knight in "The Life of Brian." No Parker today, Shields is still banged up and Peltz is on a bum wheel. Not good news going into Oregon. I'm not very optimistic for this game. Probably a sign of things to come in the B1G. By the end of the season, we very well could be saying, "Alright, we'll call it a draw." Go Big Red! Today's thread is up a wee bit early. Mrs Cip and I are going to see the Hobbit. I'm a huge Tolkien fan. With that in mind, Mike Peltz needs to take a bit of advice from Gandalf. If you're wide open with the ball, and Oregon is daring you to shoot, "You shall not pass!" GBR.
  5. Welcome to the board, Mr. Hutton!
  6. I know there's a sophomoric joke there somewhere.....
  7. I thought last year Tubby ranked him up there with the best centers in U of M history. Maybe I was doing Nyquil shots.....
  8. wow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9M1Ks08cLs
  9. Mike Peltz is ranked first in fewest field goals attempted.....
  10. Lennon really wasn't political. He was anti Viet Nam war, as were a lot of people from differing political points of view. If you listen to the lyrics to Revolution, he was telling the far leftists they were loony, and he didn't want any part of their plans. One of the reasons he left Great Britain was because of their high tax rates, and he chose to stay at home to raise his son. Sorta the same values as most Nebraskans..... Lennon loved America because he loved freedom.

  12. It might be a rivalry game to segments of each team's fan base, but only because they have contact with people who follow the other team. IMHO, this isn't a rivalry game, because since the series resumed in 1977, and I've followed every one of the games, no one can point to any game in the series as the reason NU did/didn't make the tourney or Creighton did/didn't do the same. Nebraska/Oklahoma football was a rivalry because there always was a conference championship at stake whenever they played. There's not squat at stake when NU/CU play in basketball. I doubt there ever will be. Look, I love to beat the obnoxious sweater vesters in any sport as much as anyone. Doesn't mean I consider them a rival. I think of them more as a boil on my rear end.....
  13. This time of year, I normally wouldn't waste your time with an off topic thread. However, since the Huskers don't play for another week, and the Creighton game has been dissected about everyway possible, here you go. I was a student at UNL when John Lennon was murdered. As in the case of most tragedies, one always remembers where he/she was at. Howard Cosell making the announcement on Monday Night Football was unforgettable. The murder left me numb for weeks. I grew up a huge Beatles fan. The first 45 I ever bought was Hey Jude. I was 7 years old at the time. (Yep, the little cipster loved rock and roll at an early age. ) John was always my favorite Beatle. I loved his sharp sense of humor. I was excited to see him return to the music scene in 1980. I was disappointed that he included Yoko on half the Double Fantasy tracks, but, that was John.... Instead of holding a memorial service, Yoko asked the world to observe a moment of silence for John the Sunday following his death. Z 92 held an event at Rosenblatt Stadium. Several of my friends and I went to it. On a cold December morning, the place was pretty much full. They played Lennon songs and led up to the moment of silence with "A Day In The Life" from Sgt. Pepper's. In the weeks following the tragedy, FM stations played this Lennon song on a regular basis. He originally wrote the song because people in the early seventies were clamoring for the Beatles to reunite. It turned out to be eerily accurate about the end of his life. It's hard for me to imagine it's already been 32 years. (And I'm still waiting for that first NCAA tourney win. ) RIP, John.

  15. it would be nice to see them finish strong tonight. Get the lead down to 13-15.
  16. Exactly. This game in the big picture means little to nothing.
  17. That's the offensive output many expected this year. Gotta keep that in mind....
  18. Yep. It could get ugly....
  19. If somehow we could cut the lead a point a minute.....
  20. Down 28-17 at half. Now, IIRC, weren't the Huskers down 11 at half against the sweater vests in Lincoln in Sadler's first year?
  21. Let's get a stop and go into halftime down 9.........
