Mascot: Demon Deacon
Conference: ACC
Shirt color not to wear: Gold/Black/Clerical
Opposing player to watch: Travis McKie
With no apologies to E.J. Singler or Nate Wolters, McKie will easily be the best player the Huskers have seen so far. The 6-7, 210 LB potential NBA prospect is a match-up nightmare as in addition to his strong inside play he also has 3 pt range. McKie also draws plenty of contract so the Huskers will need to be concerned about not letting him rack up points from the charity stripe. Look for a combination of Toney McCray, Caleb Walker and maybe David Rivers attempt to slow McKie down.
Opposing player to watch: CJ Harris
Last year CJ Harris had to fill in for an injured Tony Chennault at the point which meant he not only struggled at a position he'd never played but also struggled to do what he does: score. Back at his natural 2-guard position, Harris has made more than half his shots and is putting up nearly 20 points a game. Look for Brandon Richardson to spend most of his night making Harris earn those points...this isn't one of those guys you want to leave to help a teammate.
Possible Lineups (Demon Deacons)

F | Carson Desrosiers | 7-0 | So. | 5.0 |
Possible Lineups (Huskers)
Position | Ht. | Yr. | PPG | |
G | Bo Spencer | 6-2 | Sr. | 15.5 |
G | Brandon Richardson | 6-0 | Sr. | 8.3 |
G | Caleb Walker | 6-4 | Sr. | 10.5 |
F | Brandon Ubel | 6-10 | Jr. | 5.5 |
C | Jorge Brian Diaz | 6-11 | Jr. | 12.8 |
When Skip Prosser tragically passed away in 2007, Wake Forest tabbed assistant Dino Gaudio as head coach. While going 61-31 in three years, Gaudio's poor end of the season showings ended with Wake Forest giving him the Frank Solich special and canning a winning coach. Thus, in 2010 they replaced a guy like Gaudio who couldn't win in the postseason with a guy who has never won in the postseason in former Colorado coach Jeff Bzdelik.
Wake Forest basically self-destructed last year going 8-24 including a 1-15 ACC record. A lot of the team ended up leaving and the Demon Deacons find themselves with 8 scholarship players in Lincoln. (Three of them are freshmen) The Deacons are three man team of McKie and Harris along with PG Tony Chennault accounting for approximately 2/3rds of their scoring. Despite the eight man rotation, Bzdelik does play a high tempo game and his teams will put up points given the chance.
Wake has been pretty good about protecting the ball this year but has been killed on the boards. Given the team the Dekes roll out expect to see a fair amount of Toney McCray assuming he can keep his head in the game. Brian Jorge Diaz could hear a lot of "Hip Hip Jorges" as there isn't a big man on the team that should be able to stop him one-on-one. Look for the Huskers to try and pressure Wake as this is a team that will fold when pushed. If it's close at the end, you might want to stick around because the Huskers should pull it out.
Prediction: Huskers 77 - Wake Forest 68 with a 14% chance of Runzas
P.S. Student ticket holders can bring a student for free with a red shirt with every 1000th student to receive a free hug from Andre Almeida.
