Anyone know that 590 carries the Coach Fran Hawkeye basketball show at 7pm? Weird to hear this on omaha 590. How long has this been carried? Wish we could get uno, unl or creighton focus for the state rather than Iowa. Just my thoughts

590 is the Hawkeye sports flagship station in Omaha now.  If I recall correctly they've been carrying the Iowa football games for a while now but dumped Creighton basketball in favor of going 100% Iowa this year.

I really haven't listened to them in forever but was flipping the dial tonight an was shocked.would think an omaha station could cover all three in state d1 schools/ high schools sports hour. Who knows maybe it draws huge ratings

Biggest Hawkeye booster chapter is in Council Bluffs. It's probably a good move for them.

They didn't dump Creighton, their contract ended and Creighton chose 1620 since the zone does the rest of the Universities' athletic broadcasts.  They wanted all of them under the same umbrella.

You can find all of those schools covered on other radio stations.  1620/1180 does UNO basketball and I believe Hockey games.  Creighton is also on 1620 and University of Nebraska is on many various chanels like 1110 in Omaha.

 

I don't regularly listen to 590's afternoon talk show, but I know they do talk Husker and Creighton, but also do Iowa too since they broadcast Iowa games.
