Hoopgurlz has a fantastic article on Kaylee and Lanie Page today! It's a must read!!

Tomorrow by the way Kaylee and Lanie who are double partners in tennis are in McPherson KS at the state high school regionals tennis tournament. The Page sisters are top ranked in their class and sport a 22-0 record entering the regionals.

Lanie may not have Kaylee's dedication to the weight room -- at least not yet -- but that hasn't stopped schools such as Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Oklahoma State from offering her a scholarship.

They've seen Lanie bring the ball up, dribble behind her back and drill 3-pointers and came away impressed.

Lanie, who is interested in studying physical therapy or criminology, had liked Stanford before deciding it was too far away. She is open to joining Kaylee at Nebraska.

Kaylee's work ethic is the stuff of legend. She practices so hard she can barely walk the next day. She takes so many shots her arm hurts.

But where she really stands out is in her love for the weight room. Ever since her sophomore year, she has taken to lifting with the guys on the football team.

Kaylee and Lanie head over to Topeka this week to compete for the Kansas State 4-A girls tennis doubles championship. Here's a write up in the Topeka paper on the pair.

When listing off the top high school girls’ basketball players in Kansas, it doesn’t take too long to get to Wamego’s Kaylee and Lanie Page. While basketball has consumed their lives, it isn’t the only sport in which the duo have enjoyed success. Turns out, they aren’t too bad at tennis either.

Paired together this season as a doubles team for the first time, the Pages have put themselves in position to add another state title to their resume. Following a hard-fought 6-2, 2-6 7-6 (7-5) win over McPherson’s Emily Ediger and Camry Holle in last week’s Class 4A regional championship, the Pages will take a 26-0 record to this week’s state tournament in Topeka.

The Page journey continues today as the top seeded doubles team of Lanie & Kaylee have reached the Kansas 4-A semi-finals of the 4-A state tennis tournament.

Up next for Hayden's Muller and Voegeli are the top-seeded team of Wamego sisters Kaylee and Lanie Page, who are 28-0 after a pair of decisive wins Saturday. Kaylee Page is a senior and Lanie a junior.

The Pages, who led Wamego to the 4A state basketball title last March, moved into the semis with 6-0, 6-2 win over Lauren McClain and Dani Williams of Pratt.

"I was nervous today just because it's my last year, last state tournament, last everything, but I don't get near as nervous for tennis as I do basketball,” Kaylee Page said. “The first match was a little rough, but I think we got our stuff together our second match. I thought we played pretty well our second match.”

“We have to guard one another every day, so it gets tough,” Kaylee said. “It really makes us better because Lanie knows my strengths, and I know her strengths. So in practice, I’m going to take away her strength, and she’s going to take away mine. It forces us to go outside our box, working on our weaknesses. It really makes our game more well-rounded and complete instead of just doing the things we’re good at.”

Lanie agreed.

“I’ve learned pretty much everything from her,” she said. “Watching her play and what she did and her work ethic as I grew up — that was my goal to be as good as her. She’s helped me out a lot, and playing against her, we just make each other better because we’re both pretty good players. We feed off of each other.”

It also says Lanie is contemplating offers from Nebraska, Texas Tech, Louisville and now Duke.
