FredsSlacks Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 How would you divide 200 minutes with all this depth? (assuming no injuries) Webster 28 Gallegos 28 Petteway 28 Shields 32 Pitchford 28 Bench Smith 12 Fuller 12 Biggs 12 Rivers 8 Vucetic 8 Parker 4 Hawkins 0 redshirt? Walkons... Quote
HB Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 Wow, Smiles, you've dropped Rivers from mid 30's in minutes to 8! Each year the promise of the new guys, though mainly sight unseen, causes folks to discount experience and past performance. I'm willing to bet a healthy rivers still gets double digit minutes. Quote

As Rivers vast improvement from his freshman to sophomore years so I'm guessing there will improvement in his junior year. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
Concrete Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 I agree, i think we're selling Rivers a little short. I don't see him starting, but he was a good player out of HS. Got stuck in a bad situation his freshman year but he improved tremendously under Miles. For his slim frame, he's shockingly effective at the 4 and a good defender. Quote
FredsSlacks Posted August 8, 2013 Author Report Posted August 8, 2013 Rivers played 25 min a game, not mid 30s, and he shot 25% from 3... 56% free throw percentage. who do you guys think he is going to take minutes from? Quote
HB Posted August 9, 2013 Report Posted August 9, 2013 Rivers played 25 min a game, not mid 30s, and he shot 25% from 3... 56% free throw percentage. who do you guys think he is going to take minutes from? He started slow, but averaged 29 minutes in conference season, and had several mid-upper 30s games down the stretch (until the Big 10 tournament) . Of course, we had no one to substitute by then, and hopefully that won't be the case this year. You could be right, I just thought going way down to 8 seemed low. He'll get a few minutes from all of those who play the 3-4. Quote

We're going to have to rotate our 4s and 5s early and often due to our size disadvantage. They'll be working their ass off on defense every possession. Quote
