Oral Roberts (4-6) vs. Nebraska (8-1) Game Thread
whoopdeedoo replied to Bugeaters1's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
thought i heard matt say the injury to tk has been a "nagging injury". if so, i would think coach monitored the situation so a decision either way could be made before they would have compromised the possibility of a redshirt or medical redshirt. just a guess. that news bites the big one. -
agree---teams with some length and athletic enough to guard the perimeter will most likely make it difficult for them. they also have a freshman guard who is lightning quick and handles the ball pretty well. she played towards the end. i think the only thing keeping her from minutes is her offensive production. should add minny seems to be able to get to the rim too. watched iowa-iowa st last night. i think it was a tough situation last night for iowa state. (if you didn't know, coach fennelly's father passed away the morning of the game). iowa state playing at home just didn't look like iowa state----although, joens is pretty good.

i noticed realtimerpi has corrected nebraska's record to 8-1 and are sitting at an rpi of 85. watched minny dismantle GW tuesday night on espn+ (btw, BTN+ should only charge $4.99/mo also) minny was practically hitting on all cylinders. freshman led the way with 23 points, 7 boards, 4 steals, 2 blocks, 2 assists. think she was 4 of 6 from 3pt land. they have so many 3 point shooters. had a 4 guard starting lineup (along with Bello).

going to be an interesting BT season. hard to argue with Maryland, OSU, and Indiana leading the way. i just see a lot of parity with the rest. well, except for maybe PSU and Illinois. won't surprise me if they struggle thru BT play this season. almost wonder if Illinois coach will make it thru the season? PSU will be good again, just gonna take a season or two, imo. road wins are going to be tough, but, huskers are going to need to pull off a number of them if they want a shot at ncaa berth. i'm just expecting a lot of shuffling in the standings---especially the 5-12 spots. could be wrong, but, think it's looking that way. guess i am just saying, team(s) we might expect to finish near that top tier could very well finish well below.

ncaa rpi for BT teams (thru dec 10 Northwestern (7-1) 12 Ohio State (6-3) 19 Indiana (8-1) 24 Rutgers (8-1) 25 Purdue (7-2) 26 Iowa (6-2) 39 Michigan (8-1) 42 Maryland (8-2) 55 Wisconsin (6-3) 59 Minnesota (7-1) 81 Nebraska (8-1) 100 Michigan State (6-2) 155 Illinois (6-2) 272 Penn State (5-4) well, i keep trying to change that emoji to 8 and i keep getting the smiley face with the sunglasses

according to Massey Ratings, huskers sitting at 39. i believe realtimerpi has them at 130? but, they still show usc as a loss. so much for that sight. looking at it this way, kinda glad 10 day "lay-off" before ORU. shouldn't have to worry about that "hangover high" from the Duke win. the Duke win should be behind them and really focus on ORU.
-
jr arella guirantes------has earned BT player of the week twice now.
-
been playing really good defense to go along with the offense. didn't mention them cause i haven't watched them play yet.( just going by what i read on indiana)
-
true, but, rutgers has been showing more offense than i thought they would. believe they are averaging 70ppg. which is pretty high for them lol
-
for those who have watched BT games.....any surprises? or, maybe changing your mind on a team's play so far? hate to say it, but, iowa is playing better than i thought they would. getting good play from soph post czinano. ohio state could be really really good if things start to come together.

wisconsin hangs on to beat ndsu 64-63. ndsu has been horrible in the summit league.

Duke (6-2) vs. Nebraska (7-1) Game Thread

yes, believe it was 2016: "On April 12, an SB nation website, Swish Appeal, broke the news that Duke was investigating its women’s basketball program and McCallie for the mistreatment of players and assistant coaches. The University acknowledged an “evaluation” of the program by a human resources employee outside of athletics later that day. White said in his statement – which was released at 9:20 p.m. Sunday night – that he had received the results of that work." Duke (6-2) vs. Nebraska (7-1) Game Thread

i don't think i have seen a team shoot 61.3% in a half and end up behind. going to be an interesting 2nd half. i think huskers are going to have to shut down duke's offense somewhat in the second half if they are to pull this one out. -
the rims in PBA need to be kind to the Huskers tonight!
-
one stat that caught my eye.... Duke TO's per game: 17.4 opponents: 16.9 Huskers TO's per game: 12.3 opponents: 13.9 if huskers can limit those "dumb" passes....*cough-hannah-cough*......with hannah being a senior, i think we are just gonna have to expect hannah is most likely gonna make at least 1 of those passes a game. listening to matt and jeff, they have both questioned each other during broadcast "i don't know what hannah was seeing, she threw it right into the hands of "opponents name". appears duke has been prone to to's, but, it also appears duke's height/length gives some opponents problems (hence the 16.9 to's) if huskers stay near their norm (12.3) OR less, will give them some good opportunities to take advantage.

yeah, noticed that a while back. don't know details, but, believe final score wasn't all that close. also beat marquette and only lost by 2 against DePaul. nw playing well in non-con. https://highposthoops.com/2019/12/03/northwestern-drops-tight-heartbreaker-to-depaul-after-cruising-by-valpo-and-colgate/

btw, i did shoot them an email about having a couple of records incorrect. i haven't heard back, but, that could be holiday related? or, probably won't hear anything. don't know how it picks winner, but, just seems a bit surprising considering Duke has a much better power ranking and a huge difference in sos rating.
-
yeah, haven't seen OSU play yet...but, a little surprising with the talent they have. like stated, it's early. i'll stick with my earlier prediction about a 2nd place finish in big ten. right now, indiana appears to even be a little better than i thought they would. possible they could replace OSU at that spot.
-
Cain (not to mention others) will have her work cut out for her on wed. Duke will be able to match Cain's height and/or even be taller. don't think this is anything new for Duke. seems like they always get some really tall players.

rather sloppy, but, as long as they get the 'w' i see cain still pops out to top of the key to play defense every now and then. if shu recognized it they had mismatch as whitish was guarding their post player.
