  1. dang. those free throws.? gotta find other ways to win--------it's not gonna happen at the free throw line this season. hopefully, better free throw shooters coming in.
  2. have to admit, someone tell me huskers gave up 48 in a half------------i would say a blowout!
  3. wow. defense has got to pick up. don't think huskers can keep up with this pace.
  4. ugh. not a good sign michigan is hot. afraid that could happen.
  5. well, crap. that doesn't help---no Washington and Kissinger suffering effects from the flu. sorry redsteve beat me to it
  6. love your optimism, but, wondered if you read her father's post earlier in the season. i took it as it is just a matter of time before they have to make that decision that her family and husker fans don't want to hear.?
  7. well, the way things have unfolded this season (so far) and since she is fairly close to Lincoln how do you NOT put coach williams and the huskers on your radar?!?
  8. sure would be nice to get some good minutes out of RB tonight. squeezing out close to 10 productive minutes would be a big help. one can hope anyway.
  9. i believe KC has a pretty good chance to hang with Thome. Gustafson is a little quicker with her moves and may cause more of a problem for Cain than Thome. like i stated before, if KC can stay out of foul trouble----could see an interesting battle.
  10. a person could list about 3 key things where huskers need to be successful in giving them a chance at a 'w'----or possibly even keeping it a tight game. the one that may be at the top of the list, and no surprise, is keeping Cain on the court. can't afford to get her into foul trouble. she has to play her game, but, play smart.
  11. at halftime, Big Ten Networks Vera (last name slips my mind) gave her top 3 freshman: Sevillion(sp?) from Iowa, Destiny Pitts from Minnesota, and Kate Cain from Nebraska.
  12. comparison of Michigan vs Nebraska seasonal stats ( Big Ten overall): scoring offense: Michigan 6th 76.6 assists: Nebraska 4th 17.7 Nebraska 7th 71.6 Michigan 9th 14.6 scoring defense: Michigan 3rd 60.8 turnovers: Michigan 7th +0.0 Nebraska 7th 64.8 Nebraska 10th -0.9 scoring margin: Michigan 3rd +15.8 steals: Nebraska 8th 7.2 Nebraska 8th +6.3 Michigan 9th 7.0 field goal %: Michigan 2nd .479 blocked shots: Nebraska 3rd 5.3 Nebraska 10th .427 Michigan 11th 4.1 free throw %: Michigan 4th .745 Nebraska 14th .613 3pt defense: Michigan 4th .306 Nebraska 5th .307 3pt fg %: Michigan 4th .360 Nebraska 8th .352 offensive rebounds: Nebraska 6th 14.1 Michigan 7th 12.1 defensive rebounds: Nebraska 6th 28.0 Michigan 7th 27.8 rebounding margin: Michigan 3rd +9.1 Nebraska 6th +4.5
  13. the one thing about Dunston--------shouldn't have to worry too much about her scoring-----averages 3.5ppg. hope i don't have to eat my words on that one....
  14. i think you are correct. i couldn't think of what Dunston's makeup is like. maybe you flip whitish and jazz. as far as flaherty----probably in game adjustments as far as who can guard her.
  15. starting out: Thome-Cain Munger-Eliely Brown-Simon Dunston-Whitish Flaherty-Jazz i would be concerned about Munger getting in a rhythm. she can drain the 3 too. do you put a 6'1" Nicea on a 5'7" Flaherty? not sure that's a good match---i could see Flaherty getting around her to the basket a little too easy. with Flaherty i just think you start Jazz or even Whitish. no doubt, may be necessary to make a switch. i think Cain can hold her own. just don't get too aggressive and get caught up in the air on that first move (and possibly foul). Thome will get some points on Cain. hopefully it's limited. i think keeping Thome at or just below her average (16) would be really good. keep Flaherty from having the game she is capable of---that's the big key.
  16. the 2 i would be looking at would be a possible win at home against iowa and a good shot at purdue. no doubt this is going to be a rough stretch. buckle up.
  17. no, not really. talked about the staff responsibilities for scouting teams. you probably caught enough of it where Cain and Simon were pretty much the discussion about midway through the show.
  18. just saw a tweet from husker sports: matt coatney will have coach love on at 6:04 tonight------for anyone interested.
  19. anyone know when coach williams will be having her show on sports nightly?
  20. after illinois, i think the remaining road games get kicked up a notch (as far as competition). 20? not sure i would count anything out when it comes to this group.? it WILL be tough, though. a couple months ago, who even thought that would come up in the conversation! ?
  21. listening to game, i started to wonder about her---again. then she did get in near the end. so, she must be able to go. just a guess, but, maybe she has really been struggling at practice and just hasn't seen hardly any playing time lately.
  22. whoever filled out sunday's scorecard:
  23. yep-------a month ago huskers were sitting at 112! just have to be impressed so far---granted, not the schedule the huskers had to deal with last season, but, if someone at the beginning of the season said they would be looking at 11-5, 2-1 big ten they would have really raised eyebrows. i watched the illinois/iowa game while listening to the huskers with matt and jeff. odds are this will be a tough match. illinois led a good portion of the first half until iowa finally decided to feed gustafson and let her take over. once iowa took back the lead, illinois kept the deficit bouncing back and forth in that 4-9 pt range---had it down to 4 or 5 with a couple minutes left but iowa stretched it out to at least 10. illinois just didn't have an answer for gustafson.
  24. didn't sound real pretty, but, a win is a win. like i had mentioned in a previous post was hoping to get one out of the three game road trip earlier in the season. way to battle through the rough spots!!! sweet!
