i think Borton came out with a book a couple years ago (?) and had a section on the minny situation. i did see an interview with her about the book and she stated she had it in her book and has moved on. i think it was during the period when the athletic department was a mess. a real good friend of mine, who himself is involved in DI athletics, had a daughter that was being recruited by minnesota for vb. i think they visited the year before Borton was let go. anyway, they decided to go elsewhere. he told me they were a bit concerned about the situation in minny's athletic department at the time.

there was/is many a gopher fan that were hoping Stollings would not return. there was a lot of support for going after lindsay whelan (former gopher and present lynx player).
-
imagine the vikings home game had somewhat to do with their attendance. minny usually does a pretty good job with supporting gopher basketball (though, not at husker levels)
-
if matt and jeff had mentioned it during pregame, i missed it-----------------is grace mitchell ill? never heard her name called and noticed she isn't in the stats.
-
love your optimism, but, we all know a long ways to go---but, i hear ya! listened to the game call with matt and jeff. since i can only go by that, what impressed me the most, i think there were around 6 minutes left(?) and things seemed to be unraveling. matt was saying the same thing. i was hoping coach would call a time out----but the huskers pulled themselves together and settled things down. that showed me something right there! haven't checked the stats yet, but, if someone told me Bell would get almost(?) 30 and minny drained 12 3's------i would have stated "loss". oh, man. i'm kinda giddy!!! GBR!

i think the huskers can win---will take another very good defensive effort. i think another key will be if woody and her crew can drain some threes. if i remember the stats correctly, minny has 3 players (wagner, bell, and pitts) that shoot just under 40% 3pt'ers. keeping it in the upper 60's-low 70's might give them a good shot at leaving with a 'w'. of course, then there is and will be that reoccurring theme during conference games, keep Cain out of foul trouble (not to mention a few others). another thing about minny, think i read where Destiny Pitts is in the running for freshman of the year also. many minny fans have pretty much chalked this up as a win----really hoping huskers can make leaving williams just a little bit colder for them!? btw, just saw where minny is averaging 87.8 pts/g (9th in the country)and Pitts reached 40% shooting on 3's after their win at nw.

think this will be a tough game at williams. huskers gonna have to be prepared to hustle on defense. minnesota can really get running after defensive rebound. i believe it was against xavier------the second half gophers started to run and it was rather impressive. wagner and bell will be a headache---also bello with her athleticism.
-
really love woody's follow through on her shots. she hit 1-3, and the other two were just in and out. there is another shot of her in a previous game that would make for just a fantastic framed photo for her on senior night. would be nice to see them use it.

this needs a caption!!! ?

i will also say, it appears coach williams is getting maximum effort from this group. i know it's early in her husker career, but, at this moment one has to be pretty impressed with what she has done so far.
-
the good: Cain is pretty darn good and having Kissinger back. the bad: wow-------hannah's passing boggled the mind at times, she's not alone though glaring difference in athleticism not to mention offensive firepower have to admit, much closer than i thought it would end up. give the huskers credit for defensive effort.
-
i thinking foul trouble could become a problem tonight. according to article in OWH, Kissinger is "questionable". afraid huskers are going to have to shoot "lights out" to keep it respectable. yup, tough one. ???

and Happy New Year. safe travels for those of you who may be on the road.

my memory may be failing me, but, think that was the first time i heard mention of a brace. may have been a little more significant than any info that was out in the public. really was hoping huskers could stay with wsu and not give up a big lead at any point. unfortunately, that went away fairly early. like they say, takes so much energy to get yourself back into the game and have a shot at finishing. anyway, appears halftime led to some valuable discussion/adjustments and huskers were able to pull within 7, but, just couldn't get over the hump. really happy with the performance of woody. as i had mentioned before, i just didn't think she would see many minutes once bria and janay were in the mix. i was wrong on that one. i guess i had a little higher expectations for the two transfers. although, that injury suffered to janay may be putting a big damper on her senior season. on to the big ten season--------and, man, just thinking road wins are really going to be tough the rest of the season.

listening to matt and jeff. doesn't sound pretty. whitish has to come alive second half.

scored 35 in 64-61 loss to St Michael/Albertville (the two section teams thought to fight for berth to state/Mn) Sam Haiby is 3rd in total points (231) 4th in ppg (28.9) i scrolled the 3 point shots made, but, noticed she isn't in the top 100+. tells me she is getting majority of points in driving to basket and/or mid range jumpshot.

hoping TK is a go-------what's it been? a month now? don't want them to rush it though----just want to see her healthy. if it's a "bruised" knee, should be coming around.
-
i expected purdue to be a "middle of the pack" squad. this probably lowers the expectation a few notches. i actually kinda wondered if coach (versyp sp?) would return. wouldn't surprise me if she is on the hot seat. sure have slipped last few seasons.
-
looking at their roster, wow, only 5 of the 15 players from mainland U.S.! i remember at least a few months ago reading an article about a school i think out in the northeast(?) that has a roster full of players from overseas. wasn't aware wsu had as many as they do.

Nebraska defeats FAU; Kate Cain obliterates block record

six players in double figures! not sure we will see that again the rest of this season. things start getting a little more difficult starting friday. (no idea why this posted above all the other earlier posts???) -
spot on. i think this is the Maddie Simon fans have been waiting to see. remember a number of times last season where i would think "she's got it"-----------only to see her either disappear or her play would struggle. hopefully, the rest of the way we see the former rather than the latter!
-
imo, when the huskers hit the big ten season, sooooo much is going to depend on the play of Cain. she is going to run into much better competition: iowa's Gustafson, michigans Thome, the player from OSU her name slips my mind---and a number more. keeping her out of foul trouble will be paramount. hate to put pressure on a freshman, but, if she gets into EARLY foul trouble, i think it will change the dynamics of the game rather drastically.

absolutely hate to read these things. http://orthonc.com/your-health/preventing-acl-tears-why-are-acl-tears-more-common-in-female-athletes from the article: THE ANSWER: Overwhelmingly, female athletes put greater stress on their knees (and particularly the ACL) as a result of different biomechanics. Three factors in particular have been identified: Females' knees are more" Turned In" (toward the midline of the body). Females' knees are less bent when jumping and landing. Females jump and run with the soles of the feet in a more rigid position and directed away from the body's center of gravity.
