  1. Long time coming but finally hearing some recruiting news. Heard that the Huskers may have had a visitor from British Coloumbia this weekend. Sage Stobbart (2017) a 6'2 post from Seycove High School in North Vancouver. As usual there isn't much information on Canadian players out there. Made a name for herself this summer playing on the AAU circuit and also played for 2016 British Columbia Provincial Team. I put a little more information that I found about her on our Big Board if you want to read that. From what I gathered this kid is a fantastic rebounder. This sounds like it may be a good possibility for the Huskers we'll just have to wait and see. The following quote is what her high school coach said about her last spring. Also, Bailey Helgren the 6-5 center from Edina, Minnesota comes off the Big Board as she committed to Kansas a few days ago.
  2. If both Shepard and Blackburn can hit that 10-15 foot jumper on a consistent basis like Allie does, our inside game will very hard for any team to slow down. I actually think Allie is primed to have a career year. I look for the Whitish kid from Wisconsin to thrive and flourish in this new offensive scheme. I also think both newcomers Nicea E and Grace M. will surprise and will both turn in pretty solid freshmen seasons when all is said and done.

  4. I've got to piggy back on to your post redsteve and give major props to Husker wbb alumni Danielle Page playing for the Serbia National Olympic team. She's having one heck of a showing in Rio and has helped Serbia advance out of Group B into the quarterfinals at the Rio Olympics. She's making all Husker wbb fans really proud!!
  5. Southwest Baptist has been added to the non-conference schedule as an exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 6th. Was actually hoping this would happen to help get the Huskers somewhat accustomed to some sort of game time experience in the new system before being thrown into the fire of WNIT pre-season tourney.
  6. Carlie Littlefield comes off the big board today as she committed to Princeton this morning.
  7. In a recent interview with one time Husker commit Mi"Cole Cayton, she reveals a boost from a source that helped her in choosing Cal after re-opening her commitment. A tidbit the previous regime most likely didn't want to be made public. Which raises the question, was she in the ear of the others who have moved on? Sounds a little vindictive to me. http://bearinsider.com/news/story.php?article=2119
  8. Second round of July recruiting is full go ahead!
  9. Suck on that for a while Iowa! Didn't know exactly when she would announce but those in and around the Minden area pretty much knew she had her heart set on NU. I think she did her due diligence with the change over in staffs and decided to announce when she felt comfortable. I see her playing the 3.
  10. She's rated in most recruiting services in the top ten. She will have her pick in schools. I think every B1G school has now offered. Seem's like she's a heavy lean to South Carolina right now. She has a good relationship with South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley and has already taken unofficial visits to South Carolina. I think she would have verballed South Carolina by now if it hadn't been for interest that she recently received from UConn. Good to see that this new staff isn't not holding back and going all out when it comes to extending offers though. You can't get them if you don't offer.
  11. 4-Star guard Aleah Goodman a 5'9 guard out of the Portland Ore. area committed to Oregon St this past week. One of her finalist was Nebraska. Would have been nice to land her but in any rate good to see this new coaching staff in on one of the west coasts top players until the end. http://portlandtribune.com/cr/25-sports/314530-193415-aleah-goodman-commits-to-osu
  12. Pretty cool photo of Bria (in the blue shirt) and her folks getting help moving in today!!
  13. Yes, I do. As a conference the B1G was the 5th best according to the RPI 6 Ohio State 8 Maryland 17 Michigan State 46 Indiana 52 Rutgers 58 Iowa 66 Purdue 78 Michigan 81 Minnesota 93 Nebraska 103 Northwestern 138 Penn State 183 Illinois 199 Wisconsin
  14. They are the same cirumstances, I think it could have been a recruiting ploy to get Natalie to sign with the Huskies. Oh, and welcome to the board!! Don't hesitate to come back and contribute!
  15. Since getting into the big dance depends a lot on your RPI if you don't get the automatic bid from your conference and if you remember Yori always seemed to be mentioning the RPI of certain teams and conferences in interviews. So since she and her staff had a lot to do with the making of this years non-conference schedule, I decided to take a look at the RPI of the non-conference opponents we face this year according to their final RPI standing from last season to sort of gauge where the non-conference slate stacks up according to last seasons RPI. Keep in mind each year all teams lose players and gain new ones. Nebraska finished 93rd in the RPI last season. Power 5 conference schools placing below 70 are usually pretty good. If they placed between 70 and 130 they could have been better. Anything above 130 for a power 5 school in the rpi just isn’t very good. Take note there are 349 schools playing basketball in division 1 of the NCAA I think our schedule is just about where it should be considering a new staff and what we have coming back. You always want some strong teams and some average teams with a sprinkling of some not so good teams. The Huskers will most likely face some pretty good RPI teams from last season in the Pre-season WNIT tournament. How the Huskers are going fare is yet to be determined. The following is how our non-conference slate stacks up against teams according to their last years final RPI ranking. 3 Connecticut 84 California 95 Washington State 109 Drake 111 Virginia 115 Creighton 124 Virginia Tech 193 Texas Rio Grande Valley 201 San Jose State 242 Omaha Teams we may wind up facing in the Pre-season WNIT 33 Washington 41 Colorado St. 45 Missouri 75 Abilene Christian
  16. I'd guess they're going out there to scout AAU teams. Portland hosts one of the biggest AAU tournaments on the west coast annually each July. This tourney attracts AAU teams from all up and down the west coast and usually has a lot of top ranked recruits participating. It's the tourney where Nebraska got a first look at Husker recruits Chandler Smith and Kellie McCann/Smith. Lindsey Moore and Natalie Romeo played in this tourney also. The Chicago and Dallas AAU events also attract top named recruits.
  17. Here's where the coaches are on the prowl.
  18. I'd like to see parents do something about it....like teach delayed gratification, persistence, rising up to the challenge, team vs. individual, and crazy old-fashioned concepts like that. Very good point HB but I think in a lot of instances it would be hard to get a parent to agree to do just that. If I had to guess I'd say a lot of the transfers have to do with the parents living vicariously through their kid thinking their kid is a lot better than they actually are. And if their kid doesn't get the playing time, or gets the star treatment... etc. they're like "we're taking our ball to a team where it will happen." i.e. TK LaFleur and KC Cowgill.
  19. We should start to hear a little more on 17' recruits starting next week. June is usually a quiet time recruiting wise. As basically the coaches spent last month holding camps and getting to work with the current players in small groups. The AAU viewing periods are April, July and Sept. So starting this Friday and running through the 1st of August the coaches should be on the road all through out the country watching AAU tourney's.
  20. I'm guessing he pops up at West Virginia.
  21. Looking as if Bria has also visited Minnesota.
  22. NU has sent an assistant coach (Goehle) to Barcelona for the FIBA U17 World Championships to evaluate talent from both the US and internationally for the 2018 class.
  23. The B1G Conference announced pairings for 16 regular season conference games for next season a day or so ago. Dates and times will be announced later. Here are Nebraska's opponents. Home and Away Ohio State, Michigan St, Michigan Home Games: Ohio St, Maryland, Michigan St, Indiana, Rutgers, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern Away Games: Ohio St, Michigan St, Michigan, Iowa, Purdue, Penn St, Illinois, Wisconsin.
  24. Nothing out there in the media or on social media yet, but sounds like this might have legs! Stay tuned!
  25. Ex-Husker assistant Brittney Brown was recruiting 4 star forward Lauren Miller to Nebraska before she left. She's now recruiting her to TCU where she is now an assistant coach. As a result Miller visited TCU this weekend.
