  1. We just did according to Mike Sautter:
  2. There are some very good teams playing in Council Bluffs this weekend at the Iowa Field House. The Omaha Sports Academy (OSA) teams are playing in the event which is part of the Sanford Pentagon Tournament Series. The OSA 15U's have Preston Murphy Jr who I have not yet seen play but he recently received an offer from UNLV. His team plays 3 games between 12:30 and 6:30. The OSA 16U's have several players I've followed for years including Latrell Wrightsell Jr and Jadin Booth. Jadin was rated as the top Sophomore this year by Mike Sautter and also made the all under Sr state team. They play at 2:10 and 5:25. The 17U's have Jaylin Hunter (ex-coach Hunter's son), Shareef Mitchell and a few others. They play at 1:05, 4:20, and 7:35. The 4:20 game is the best and not just because it's 4:20. The 17U's and 16Us are each nationally ranked and have each received automatic qualifiers to a national Adidas tournament in NYC in late July. The OSA program is a great program where kids truly play team basketball. For my money this is far better basketball than the regular High School games here. It is not the sloppy me-only lack of coaching that many people associate to Summer basketball. There is one other very high quality tournament where you can see the OSA Adidas programs play here locally in the 2nd weekend of July.
  3. I remember this very well. I grew up in Scottsbluff and worked at the golf course for several years where Soupy was a member. We did not recruit Bobby. Had we even shown remote interest in him he would have joined Bernard here according to Soupy. Bobby was a 2-guard for WNCC and his recruitment probably suffered for that as he was a little small for a 2 and unknown as a point guard. We had Boone and Strickland returning as Seniors so we didn't necessarily need another scorer. We had a highly touted point guard coming in but we were very nervous. He failed to meet the minimum requirements for his ACT score and everyone backed off but Nebraska and we promised to bring him in as a partial qualifier. When he passed the ACT in the Spring all the big boys came calling including Kansas and Missouri but Tyronn stayed committed to us. Maybe if we'd taken Bobby it might have given Tyronn a reason to de-commit and look elsewhere.... Still can't believe that a team with Lue, Boone, Strickland, Garner, Mikki Moore, and Venson Hamilton couldn't make the NCAA tourney...
  4. Chase plays for the OSA program where his dad's a coach during the summers. I've watched him play a number of games over the last few years. He's a crafty scorer, very good with pump fakes to get his defender out of position. I don't believe he's 6"6 but obviously there is a long standing tradition of fibbing on height in basketball. He's a strong bulky kid, probably needs to slim down a bit to improve quickness. Decent shooter. One of his teammates at Westside is Jadin Booth who is a Sophomore and also plays for the OSA program. Love this kid. He can shoot and he can attack the basket in isolation and finish at the rim. He's a great defender and a great leader.
  5. This was posted on Nebraska HS Hoops twitter today: It's official and approved by all parties that Boys Town's Teddy Allen will be at Boys Town and playing in the 2016/17 season. I'm not entirely sure what the hardship was but I assume he missed a school year entirely or went for a very brief period. He was a Sophomore in Arizona for the 2013-14 year and then a Junior at Boys Town for 2015-16. So, I assume there was a question if he still had eligibility to compete at the High School level. I know he has a June birthday so the question is did he start school young and is now 18 going to be a Senior. Or did he start late and is now 19 about to be a Senior. Not sure if it's relevant to our recruitment but I know Miles likes a lack of leg hair and this kid appears to be a full grown man from what I've seen.
  6. I'm pretty sure that there's an understanding that we will offer. I've been reading a lot on Teddy since his performance in Vegas and then finding out that we offered his brother, Timmy Allen, who still lives in Arizona, back in October. Read an article today where it is expected that West Virginia and Cincinnati will offer soon and then Cincinnati offered today. Teddy was asked to attend the Tim Miles Elite camp this coming weekend but he declined as he'd already had a trip planned back home to Arizona. I'm sorry I don't remember where I saw this earlier today but it was somewhere on the twitterverse. The bottom line is we definitely know who he is and we've been talking to him for a while. I posted a link in the Timmy Allen thread a few days ago of an article where Teddy says he's primarily been in touch with us, Creighton, Wichita St, and one other team. Obviously the number of suitors has risen dramatically since then.
  7. Teddy played at the same high school that Timmy now plays at back in 2013-14 season as a Sophomore. He played at Boys Town 2015-16 as a Junior. I believe he went somewhere in between. I saw this in a OWH article dated in January. He played his first game January 5th, assume he was not eligible to play prior to that. I did just see a link on the OSA Crusaders twitter that Teddy talks to us and Creighton and Wichita St and one other school fairly often. I assume we will offer but I hadn't ever seen anything about us being in talks with him which is the reason I posted. There is a hoopseen article linked on the feed @osacrusaders. I assume it is OK to link the article here: http://www.hoopseen.com/news/player/201607/who-teddy-allen
  8. Long time lurker... I watched Teddy Allen play 3 games this summer at OSA and was amazed at his scoring ability, no one could stop him. And he had no D1 offers when I watched him and I didn't know who he was. Teddy just had an incredible week at the Las Vegas Fab 48 tourney. The first game of pool play against E1T1 he scored 30. E1T1 has a top 10 kid that both Coach K and Coach Cal are recruiting and Cal was in attendance. He then scored 38 against a shoe-sponsored team and didn't play the last 10 minutes because it was a blow out. He then got offered by Iowa St. He scored 24 in the next game and then 38 against the Indy Hoosiers. came through. The team they beat in their first game lost in the Semi's. The team that OSA lost to in the quarterfinals, Earl Watson Elite, went on to win the tournament. Teddy had 20 in that game. OSA won 5 games, 2 against Peach Jam qualifiers, and 2 others against Under Armor sponsored programs. When I watched him in early July I thought maybe he was just dominating some lesser talented opponents but he has now played against a lot of highly recruited studs and he has continued to be a dominant scorer. Timmy Allen plays summer ball for Compton Elite, a very strong program and the team had a very good summer. He has offers from UCLA, ASU, and USC and according to his twitter he's going to visit Arizona but doesn't have an offer. I watched a recent interview with him and he said he will entertain offers from anywhere, not set on staying in the Pac-10 (12, 14 16, whatever it is). The interviewer also asked him if the school he would attend would have to wear certain gear (they're sponsored by one of the shoe companies) and he said no. I absolutely love Tim Miles and think he has recruited well with the exception of not landing a big man until Jordy. However, I can't for the life of me comprehend why we haven't offer Teddy, especially since we offered his brother back in October. They tweet each other regularly @timmybuckets35 and @jusshoopteddy if you're interested in following. Let's get these brothers back together coach Tim.
