I have never understood this logic. Just because a conference is good doesn't mean a certain number of teams are going to get in even if there are not qualified teams.
It's not a rule by any means, but more based on a conference's perception. If NU gets to 10-8 w/ 1+ win(s) in B1G tourney, then the Huskers will be dancin' (especially w/ a victory @MSU )
Wait what?
What I was saying is that being 6th place doesn't matter. It is our resume that matters. If we finish 10-8 we will certainly be 6th, maybe even 5th in the league.
We will deserve to be dancing not because of finishing 5th or 6th but because of our resume.
Hypothetically, we finish 9-9 and in 6th, but Indiana, Northwestern and Minnesota tank. The Gophers finish 7-11 and in 7th. We both lose in first round. Do we make it in since we beat them head to head and were 2 games better in league? Do you think Minny still gets in? Or does the 2nd-best RPI league only get 5 bids? I would say we have a puncher's chance on Selection Sunday.
If we were 9-9 and in 7th and lost, and Minnnesota was 10-8 and in 6th, I would say we don't have a prayer. That's how I see it.
My head spins when we talk about Big 10 standings and post season play.
