What are W-LOVERINES?

Given the age of her son (12 or 13?) I wouldn't expect to see her back coaching until he is out of school.

Guess I'm a little surprised by that. Women's games?

OT: good read on lack of participation/gbb...

I do think a lot of clubs are out of control. But we also had less than favorable experiences with HS coaches. My daughter played soccer, basketball, and did track and field, and also slipped in softball and swimming for a few years. When she got to middle school, she was told by the HS coach that she needed to drop the other sports and start coming to open gym with the HS kids. He absolutely did not want her wasting time on soccer (a sport her school did not have so club was the only way she could play) and definitely not on track and field in the summer because he wanted her playing summer league and tournaments with the HS kids. She switched schools prior to HS and was told by the HS coach at her new school that if she wanted to play HS ball in Lincoln, she had to drop her other sports and focus exclusively on basketball. She liked basketball and was a solid player and could contribute, but after freshman year she had had it with the coach and his demands so she dropped it. And she was much happier after that. She would have loved to continue to play, but the threats of being benched for missing an open gym in the off season to attend a track meet got old very fast. -
Same with my daughter.

I think it could be very hard for her to move out of state with her son.

Does anyone know if her life has settled down a bit? I have a kid going through an ugly divorce and custody battle and it is a total nightmare. I can't imagine trying to be a D1 basketball coach while that is going on.

I agree.

I think they can hang a hundred on us tonight if they want to.

Here is a possibility - someone we missed out on. http://www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/18394333/south-dakota-coyotes-allison-arens-espnw-player-week

Because getting out of the parking garage really blows.

Maybe Kiera Hardy. Don't know how highly she was rated or how many other offers she had.

I am behind those freshman all the way. Let them play, let them play, let them play. They don't seem to have the issues with the chemistry problems like we are seeing with a few of the others. One thing that has me scratching my head - what in the world is going on with the poor conditioning of Jess and Darrien? They look like they are struggling to get up and down the court. There were even a few times where there was a loose ball on a rebound near Jess and she just let it go rather than attempt to gain possession, and I think it was because she was tired.
-
I like that the freshman are getting a lot of playing time.

Points?

Did Kaylee Jensen play for a club, and, if so, which one? I've become more and more convinced that a lot of these rankings are directly related to how well the club coach you play for talks you up and promotes you and less and less on what you do on the court. Sorry, I've become jaded in my old age.

Is there a chance that we sign more for 2017? I was sort of under the impression that Kissinger was it. Maybe there are some JUCO players still out there.

Had Theriot stayed healthy, we would have had a better record. I should clarify that the above team "on paper" could be a top 20 team. Assuming the chemistry was fine (which it obviously wasn't and still isn't), I think having Romeo as threat at the arc, Doyle as a more than capable point guard, Nicea and Cayton (and Maddie) with their ability to shoot outside and drive the lane, would take the pressure off Shepard and Havers and open them up even more. One of those "who do you guard" teams where everyone is capable of scoring in several ways. Cinco would be able to have some good minutes as well as our other freshman. But, we may have also had a lot of "stress reactions" and boots and people sitting on the bench while we all wondered why they didn't get more minutes.

Amazing what a difference a year makes. Just for the heck of it - assume none of what went down in the spring had happened. Yori is still here, Romeo likely is still here, we keep Cayton and Doyle, plus we have Nicea, Hannah, and Grace. That is one kick ass team with what we return, at least top 20 team if not top 15 or even top 10 by year's end. So much talent and experience. Guess we wouldn't have RCJ, though.

Guess I can answer my own question. Hairline fracture of her left wrist this time. http://www.omaha.com/neprepzone/basketball/minden-s-taylor-kissinger-trying-not-to-let-injury-derail/article_9e2c8352-2980-588e-a40f-432e62dd2287.html

I saw a tweet that said Taylor injured her wrist in the first half of her game last night and did not return. Does anyone know the extent of the injury?

Are either of the transfers that will be eligible next year good ball handlers? We really looked like a middle school team trying to get the ball up the court on the press. And even if we did manage to get it across half court, we oftentimes would still turn it over with a really ill advised pass (sort of the panic mode pass). It's just shocking to me to see a Husker team struggle so much against the press. I gave Jess a pass last season coming off the ACL injury and not being conditioned for the season. But to me she just doesn't look any more conditioned this season and seems very slow about getting down the court and in position to not have to foul on defense. Nicea and Maddie have some athleticism that can be useful to us - just need to finish better around the rim. Might be a confidence thing with Maddie right now. She seemed much better in the second half compared to the first. Nicea was good the whole game. I expected to see more from Jess, Allie, and Cinco.

I guess I expected to see a big step forward in terms of play and leadership from Shepard this season. I realize this is the only time I've seen them play this season, but she really struggled. I think Anigwe was underrated coming out of HS.

Illinois and Rutgers are pretty bad. Not sure when/where we play them but hopefully an opportunity to pick up a few wins there. And then maybe Drake and San Jose State so I guess that equals 4 unless we play very poorly.
