  1. ...and lest we forget, we seem to have a good pulse on the foreign market of players. There is a chance we are in play for a player or two
  2. I respectfully disagree. A major theme at the press conference dealt with NIL, 1890 Initiative (Peed) and the retention of players/coaches/administrators. Where does the money come from? Sure you and I may dump 10K into the coffers; but the majority comes from the "old blue-hairs." Their generosity and love of this university is our life-blood. Without them, and the opinions they have a right to provide, will always play a major role in our decision process. I visited with an "old blue hair" several years ago that was a significant donor. He was told by a certain ex-AD that he could no longer earmark where his donations could go within the athletic department. Well, the donor fixed that by stopping his donations. My point, is that if you are going to "donate" a million dollars, then you will earn the right to help set the tone.
  3. updated penalty guidelines for student-athletes who'd been caught gambling on college sports. "Effective immediately, reinstatement guidelines for student-athletes who wager on teams at their school — excluding their own team — will start at requiring one season of ineligibility and a loss of one year of eligibility," read a decision from the Division I Council Coordination Committee.
  4. An interesting read. https://www.1890nebraska.com/list-of-athletes/
  5. How many of our entrants are leaving on their own, or are they being nudged? I am guessing all, or nearly all of them have been nudged.
  6. Nothing ever is a sure deal. I do worry that we get the right dudes to come here. A lot of teams with a lot of needs out there. Bottom line, in Fred we trust.
  7. Are we sure about Blaise?
  8. Saint Thomas is now in the portal.
  9. When we first recruited Eli I believe he was in the 6'5 neighborhood. He had a growth spurt soon thereafter.
  10. Brooks Wells and Kip Kissinger. Two Nebraskans on the list.
  11. LOL...trying to go by memory stinks as you age. Nightmares of Eddie Hightower dancing in my head. Glad I was able to throw gasoline on whoopdeedoo's straightforward question!!!
  12. So to whoopdeedoo...I apologize for adding to the confusion.
  13. That is what I thought as well...whilst looking up the above stuff I ran into this and blindly relied on it. How many women's basketball scholarships are given each year? NCAA Division I Division I women's basketball programs are limited to 13 full tuition scholarships, while the men's programs are capped at 15 full ride scholarships. That means only 13 women and 15 men will receive Division I basketball scholarships in any given year.
  14. It is funny though, as you read articles about the matter, they indicate she committed to play softball and basketball here, but stops short of scholarship discussion. I guess that brings about a bit of confusion.
  15. I will try. The team can have 13 scholarship athletes. The current roster has the following: Nissley, Weidner, Markowski, Potts, Hake, Petrie, Moriarty, Coley, Prince and Hightower. In addition, I believe Krull can come back for her Covid year, but I am not 100% sure on that; plus, you have Williams coming in. The kicker is I do not know the status of her scholarship. Is it for softball or basketball... So it looks like we have one scholarship definitely open, and "possibly" one or two more depending on answers to the Krull and Williams questions above.
  16. He may be the most experienced player on that team. I read the other day that Portland started 5 rookies in a recent game. Billups is their coach.
  17. I don't know. Sure there is a chance he could redshirt; but he has a powerful body that could earn him playing time. He really developed his game over the past 24 months.
  18. I actually thought that West Virginia got away with some thuggery that should have been called. So the foul disparity could have been worse. As far as Clark only having one foul, it is likely because she was playing soft defense...at best.
  19. Yeah, her dad was none to happy with her either.
  20. WARNING...take this for what it's worth. I received this from an anonymous source. No clue whether or not it has any validity. Read on if you wish. Keisei Tominaga Petitioning for another year Heard from someone in the student service/housing that Keisei/University are petitioning for another year due to a hardship during his first year at JUCO surrounding the language barriers. Apparently there is a precedent from years ago involving an ice hockey player with a similar situation. Keisei still not sure on what he wants to do it, but wants to keep the options open.
  21. I guess he could join Bronnie and LaBrons new NBA team.
  22. These days a players handlers have much to say regarding a players decision. Couple that with NIL $$$ and you then get an idea as to why a player may leave.
  23. I think she can a job somewhere in our system. Just saying...
  24. Here is where we sit: Guards: Brice, Ahron, Jamarques, Sam, CJ, Cale, Nick, Braden Bigs: Matar, Blaise, Juwan, Rienk, Henry Who am I missing? It is always painful and exciting going through this process...but as mentioned by others, it is the world we live in. I am so much more confident given the staff that we have on board.
  25. I would also love it if Diop returns. He is the athlete we are wanting.
