  1. We discussed this up in our section as well. I sort of think that both our freshmen are eyeing redshirt seasons. Sure, things could change; especially if there are injuries. Our depth simply won't provide them sufficient minutes at this point. The first three games seemingly would have been ideal for them to play, and they didn't...sooo, shoot redshirts seem inevitable???
  2. That was one very Fugly basketball game. Goodness, it reminded me of a cat who caught a mouse and simply wanted to knock the mouse around rather than simply kill and eat it. Okay, I am not close to being in a panic mode at this point; but for a mature team we do a lot of bad things. Bad passes, forcing penetration, defensive breakdowns, failure to box out, et al. Everything is a tick too quick or a tick too slow. Frustrating to watch. I trust the staff and players will have a light bulb moment and figure this out. So am I concerned, yes. Am I in a panic no. We did win.
  3. Agree. Perhaps the team had those same thoughts.
  4. Southeastern Louisiana was a pretty good basketball team. Well coached and they played inspired and hard basketball. They had exceptional interior passing and went to the glass hard. On defense, they had a couple strong interior player and whenever the ball went to Markowski they brought down a guard to double. But in doing that, we were able to kick the ball out for some great looks on the perimeter. They were quick on the outside and rather big and physical on the inside. Honestly, I was impressed. We played much better ball in the second half. Good adjustments were made at half and we played with better tempo. If we have a weakness right now, it is our ability to handle quick guards. We seemed to adjust to that quickness in the second half. ** Potts is quicker and much more confident this year. If she continues to improve on the perimeter she is going to elevate to a whole new level of play. ** Caitlin did a good job handling the ball today. She has definitely improved her handles from last season. ** If there is a tougher individual in this State than AW I would be honored to meet him/her. There is no way she is 100%. No way. Yet she is out on the court giving it her all. You can see and feel her pain. Every time she goes down, I hold my breath. What a trooper. ** We need Britt on the floor...get well soon! ** Folks, we got ourselves a good one with Bozan! Just think, she has only been in the US and our team for a few months...just wait until her knowledge catches up with her talent!
  5. She was shooting with a trainer a couple minutes ago, but looks bleak
  6. Looks like Creighton will pull it out at the end. With a minute left, Kalkbrenner has 49 points.
  7. Six point game with 8 minutes left. I'm feeling much better about our victory now. Just saying.
  8. Looking back, everything last night was very vanilla. We were more athletic and physical which allowed us to spread the floor and drive to the hoop with the occasional dump to Morgan. I don't anticipate anything much different until, perhaps, St. Mary's.
  9. By the way, a few comments outside the lines, so to speak: * Surprising good crowd. Both numbers and volume. Good to see. * The floor was a factor on a few occasions. Not sure why players were struggling with traction, but quite a few slip and falls. * Our dance squad is top notch. I apologize for the following; but our cheer squad is, uhhh, pathetic. Get rid of all the men and rethink what the team and fans want. Good lord, they are bad. Sorry. * Pogo twosome was unique.
  10. Disjointed effort on both ends of the court. Much to like a few obvious issues. Really looks like a team trying to connect with each other. Offense was alot of one on one,; but we were more physically able to excel with that strategy tonight. Overall, pretty happy with a 20 point win.
  11. First game. Going to be a bit rough around the edges. I would be much more concerned if we didn't have a number of minor issues. We should have blown Omaha off the floor, and we did! Great job ladies!
  12. Thank goodness basketball season starts tomorrow. No additional explanation required!
  13. Interesting...and yes, you can find basketball players... https://share.newsbreak.com/9m0430v1

  16. Before I worry too much about our bigs, I would turn to a couple of guards/wings that were problematic. They have to check their men instead of running by them. I won't call anyone out yet as this was an exhibition, but if you watch next week, let's see of that issue is resolved and if that fixes the issue.

  18. I think Berke is a lot like me. You buzz your hair and as a result your body appears bloated a bit.
  19. A lot to like tonight. Business handled.
  20. A lot to like, and yes, a few concerns. I really like Rollie running the point. He looks sooo natural. Still concerned with his perimeter shot. Brice and Juwan looked good. You can tell those two, along with Rollie are leaders. Meah is limited, yet what he does, he does well. We do not look like a quick team. We occupy space and look comfortable playing physical. I think the following is a good thing...our parts are interchangeable. If our players remain selfless, we can be good.
  21. Grew up with Wilson balls, glad they are back. Team chemistry still not there. Also, we are built for the Big Ten...we seem fast but not overly quick. Will quick teams cause us issues? Rollie is doing great!
  22. Yep. Smith is not as good without Eddy. He had zero assists with about 4 minutes left in the first half.
  23. Man, it makes me thankful that most of my friends and family made it through routine procedures. I have lost two acquaintances while they went through common heart procedures. So you never take it for granted.
