  1. Do we even watch other teams? They bring in a guy with 6 walks in 9 innings. We swing at the 1st pitch? A weak pop-up is the result.
  2. Hopefully, Perry gets some confidence after that inning.
  3. In our last 10 games, Schwellenbach and Palinsky 21 - 81 (.259) with 4 HR's and 6 RBI's, 9 BB's, and 14 SO's. The rest of the team is 43 - 251 (.171) with 2 HR's and 26 RBI's, 34 BB's and 74 SO's. Tonight, the 2 are 2 - 4 with 2 BB's and 1 SO. The rest of the team 0 - 15 with 4 BB's and 7 SO's.
  4. The announcer just said they are getting to the bottom of their order. Our bottom of the order is after Palinsky.
  5. This team is lacking serious confidence right now. I know people on here say our talent is not good. I disagree. We have talent. We need to play small ball even for one inning just to get something going. Right now, Schwellenbach and Palinsky are the only two hitters actually hitting.
  6. Might as well save the bullpen tonight. We aren't going to score 6 runs tonight to put pressure on this or any pitcher for that matter.
  7. Our only hope for offense right now is to hope the other team walks us or hits us too many times.
  8. This team has a terrible approach at the plate right now. IMO, Roskam's killed any chance at a rally in the 9th. Altavilla did not help by taking a huge swing at a 2 strike pitch.
  9. Horrible at bat by Roskam. The pitcher threw 6 straight balls, and he swings a ball at the letters.
  10. Even if you haven't seen him, he has 12 walks in 19 innings. Now, it is in his head.
  11. These announcers are awful. Perry has struggled to throw strikes in his last 3 games. The one says that it is not like him.
  12. We might have lost our good fortune. Gunner nailed that pitch, and the CF only took a few steps back to make the catch.
  13. There we go. Good baserunning leads to a run.
  14. It seems like after the Purdue series, we either became overconfident or lost our good fortune.
  15. This doesn't look promising. The way we're hitting the past 2 weeks, that 1 run might hold up.
  16. We are also pretty young. We lose Altavilia, who has been slumping for 2 years. We could lose Roskam and Acker, but I don't see them going too high in the draft, or at all, to be tempted. Our pitching staff will need an overhaul. We lose Matt Waldron, Reece Eddins, and Nate Fisher. However, we have Perry, Gomes, Blessie, and Shanaman (all have bright futures barring injuries). Another top 20 recruiting class might get this thing rolling.
  17. I thought it was a good idea to hold Perry back until tomorrow night. I don't know about Chad starting. Although you do need to get him going.
  18. I think finishing 13 - 5 with a run in the BTT should have us in line with a hosting spot.
  19. That pitching depth was ridiculous and why we were near the national leaders in ERA that year. We had Joba, Kroenke, Duensing, and Watson. (All MLB pitchers). I doubt we will have 4 pitchers make the Majors, ever again. All of them were from Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. My point was that one of our best team's started a very good freshmen pitcher in mid week games. Our pitching has been pretty good since the Sam Houston game. Prior to that game, we gave up 5 runs or more in 8 of our first 10 games. In our last 17 games, we gave up 5 or more runs 4 times.
  20. 2005, our best team used Johnny Dorn, a freshmen pitcher, as a mid week starter. We were 12 - 2 in midweek games that year. In fact, we lost the season series to Creighton 1 - 2 that year. However, we went 2 - 0 against Creighton in the regionals. This year, we are 4 - 1.
  21. I think he is. It looks like he was taken out because he walked 2.
  22. Not a good night for the boys. It was bound to happen, Perry struggling. The good news is Creighton's RPI is good. We beat them already on the road. Ed Servais can't develop a midweek starter to face us. I don't mind an opponent using a bunch of pitchers. It means all of them have to be on.
  23. So, now we leave Klenke in to get hit all over the park.
  24. We've only struck out twice. I disagree with taking Luensman out. He hasn't pitched in 4 weeks. Let him work it out. What good does it do for him to face 2 batters and leave?
  25. Gomes looks like a stud in the making. I don't know what his role might be (starter or closer). My personal preference is starter. He is throwing 92 - 95 consistently.
