I don't really want Wisconsin to win but those last two calls vs the Wisconsin big men as fouling Edey were terrible.

I know we are ahead by 20+ but these refs have been awful. -
Enjoyed watching Creighton miss 3 free throws in a row in crunch time after being 20 for 20 up to that point. See if Providence can hold on.

Not sure if this is the place to put this but was curious so looked up our seeding in each of our NCAA tournament appearances and thought I would share: Seed Opponent 1986 9 Western Kentucky 1991 3 Xavier 1992 8 Connecticut 1993 10 New Mexico State 1994 6 Penn 1998 11 Arkansas 2014 11 Baylor So only been the higher seeded team 3 of the seven times - and probably only a clear favorite in 1991 and 1994. Other interesting thing I noticed was that until Baylor in 2014 all of the teams that we lost to got beat in the next round. Baylor beating Creighton made them the first team to beat us in the tourney and go on to make the Sweet 16. (Of course we also have never played a top 4 seed in the first round that would be favored to make the Sweet 16).

uneblinst's postgame chatter: vol 16; ed 31- Michigan

I don't think he likes to come in at the end of games like that - and I think Fred has decided to defer to his wishes. There was a game at home earlier where I saw Fred ask him if he wanted to go in at the end in that situation and he said no so Fred did not put him in. I think Boogie ultimately just accepted that his role with this team was as a practice player and to do what he could to help from the bench and decided he was done playing absent an injury to the guys in the rotation. -

Quite possibly the worst shooter ever to put on a Husker uniform. -
I'm not kidding about this. This needs to be done.
HuskerBB replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Norm - I think this is a great idea - but I also strongly suspect that the NCAA has some rule against what schools/teams can hand out at games (for example when you host an NCAA event like we often do in VB you can't do the kind of standard give aways that we frequently do for home games - pretty sure they don't even let our VB girls throw out the balls during player introductions that they do at every other home game). I am also almost certain they would have a strict permit requirement before you can sell something at the games. I hope I am wrong about the give away part - but my expectation is that the only way to do this would be for a private person to sell the t-shirts cheaply somewhere nearby (but outside) the arena. -
I have definitely noticed and commented to my friend at the game Sunday about it. This team is very good at breaking presses and they do it by really great spacing and passing.

Now they make a traveling call on Keisei that they could have called 5 times on other players already this game. -

I can't believe they actually called somebody for fouling Keisei. Thought there had to be blood and an arrest for that to happen in the Big 10. -

Fouls are 8-2 -
Don't think I said - that was in another person's post I think. FWIW I think as the other person indicated that you have a better chance finding a decent deal if buying a single ticket later than you would if you were trying to buy two together later- and as also stated by others reselling a single ticket you buy now would likely be more difficult.

Obviously the NCAA does not make this easy. I have talked about this in other threads as well - but I am an advocate of using Southwest to book multiple flights because you know you can cancel and get full credit for future flights. But I am also someone who flies on SW quite often so using the credit is not an issue - FWIW it used to expire in a year but they now don't have an expiration on the credit. Even better though - I accumulate SW points just for this reason because you can book a flight with points and cancel it and you just get the points back (and $5.60 of credit for the little portion you have to pay in cash even when you book a flight with points). But obviously that is not something you can do now if you don't already have the points built up. I would also say your window for this is already likely closing. Would have been better to book the SW flights a month ago probably when you might have caught a sale price. But if you wait until the selection it is almost certain the flights will be far more expensive even than they are now. Maybe to limit the flight bookings you can combine them in fly/drive packages. For example book a flight to Salt Lake and figure if necessary you could use the flight for Salt Lake - or as a base to drive the rest of the way to Spokane. Or maybe better book a flight to Boise and figure you can drive from there to either Salt Lake or Spokane. On the ticket thing I would say in most places you can wait and buy the ticket as soon as the selections are made as long as you are willing to bite the bullet and pay whatever it costs. But Omaha might be an exception to that for reasons others have noted. First Omaha is a venue that is going to be well attended regardless just because that is what Nebraskans do - tickets always sell well here. But also if Nebraska does get to Omaha the ticket price will explode - and even more so if Kansas and/or Iowa State are also there. So I think it is best to buy the Omaha tickets now and figure you won't lose money as long as at least one of those three teams are there. For others I would probably risk it knowing there is a risk involved if for example BYU ends up in Salt Lake with Nebraska. I would say that I think that if buying tickets ahead you are actually less likely to lose money if pay for the good seats now. People are always going to want lower bowl tickets and will pay a premium to get them even if there are no nearby teams. I always get lower bowl NCAA Final 4 volleyball tickets and have always made money on those when we did not go even if Nebraska doesn't go and the venue doesn't sell out. Should be very easy to book hotels that you can cancel without penalty so I would go ahead and do that to any location you are certain you would go to - but at the same time for larger cities you will be able to find a hotel somewhere without paying an outrageous price - so that really depends about how picky you are about hotel location or quality. If you are buying tickets in advance I would probably just buy the first session - particularly if you are not certain you would want to stay for round two (if god forbid NU loses). Omaha might be an exception but again kind of depends. If the nearby teams happen to lose in the first round then lots of 2nd session tickets will become available all of the sudden. That maybe is not likely with ISU or KU in Omaha - but could happen with BYU in Salt Lake maybe.

I also noticed that Boogie's body language was better yesterday. I am sure he is disappointed not to be in the rotation but I think he is at least starting to accept that and enjoy the run his teammates are having and his less visible role in helping make that happen . -

I remember every year of the Nee era very well - but that is a fair statement. We have had teams with more talent but this is a group of very likable players who work hard and are fun to cheer for. I would have to think for a while before I decided on my favorite Husker team (first one that comes to mind for me is actually Iba era - Dave Hoppen's freshman season team that went to the NIT Final Four back in the era before the NCAA tournament was 64 teams) but this is definitely one of my favorite teams. -
That is a fair comparison but I don't think it is quite the same. Auburn has been in the tournament fairly often and would not have generated quite the same excitement by playing close to home - and less significantly Auburn was also not the state school playing in the largest city in the state - and is not quite as close to Birmingham as Lincoln is to Omaha. I also don't recall Auburn being talked about so much on their abiltiy to beat anyone at home but stuggling on the road which has been the national narrative about our program this season. Auburn does have a big home court advantage on their campus - but alot of that gets attributed to the fact they play in a small arena (under 10K) which also means fewer people tend to watch them play live vs NU. I was admittedly exagerrating a bit on the $ comparison. But - again if you get specific the NCAA knows how well Omaha sells tickets anyway. (They may have wanted Auburn in Birmingham to make sure it sold out there - that is not an issue in Omaha). I did a quick check and Omaha is already the location with the most expensive resell prices for any of the 8 round one sites - one of two where no seats were priced under $100 currently for session one. It appeared to me that a few of the first round sites are still not sold out as there were lots of options for what I assumed was face value ($60 for session one) in places. No one is as rabid about these things as Nebraska fans. I know several people who sold volleyball tickets to BIg 10 and NCAA games last year for over $400 a seat. Nebraska playing an NCAA basketball game in Omaha would be an even hotter ticket. Likely anything in the lower bowl would be $1,000 or more - that definitely would be the case if either Kansas or Iowa State are also there - and I think they are both far more likely to land in Omaha than Nebraska will be this season (and FWIW I think both of those are more comparable to the Auburn in Birmingham example than putting Nebraska in Omaha - except they are both also likely higher seeds than a #9). If you do think there is a reasonable chance that Nebraska ends up in Omaha I advise you to buy that ticket now. The one thing about these kinds of events in Omaha is they will be well attended regardless so you will probably not lose money on your seat if you decide later not to go. As I mentioned in another thread if you are thinking about flying anywhere you should probably have already bought the airline tickets on SW that you can cancel for full credit as you are correct that the week of the games airline prices will be jacked up as well. Personally I made plans months ago to go to Vegas for March Madness (thinking NU probably was not likely to get in the tournament this year - my bad). Regretting that a bit now - but this is also not a great year for our fans in terms of tournament site options - and FWIW I do have a SW ticket booked for Thursday morning from LV to Salt Lake (was only $59 but used points anyway) so feel like I at least have a 1 in 8 chance still of seeing us play live this year :).

Great post Norm. I would say though - and not to take anything away from Sam - but that culture change also doesn't happen without Emmanuel Bandoumel and Juwan Gary coming in with the play hard team first attitudes they exhibited. Also FWIW probably not without a leader like Derrick Walker coming back for another year when he easiliy could have left.

Actually I would think the only way we would have any chance to be in Omaha is if we squeeze in as a 12 seed - one of the very last at-large bids. If you are a 7-10 seed then your likely 2nd round game is vs a #1 or #2. I can't imagine how much grief the committee would get if they made a #1 or #2 play us in Omaha in the 2nd round. A #12 has to beat a #5 to get to a #4 so that might not be looked at so strangely - but #12's also don't get an preference in regional location considerations. The other problem with the Omaha option is tickets would be astronomically priced. Might be just a cheap to pay for ticket, airfare and hotel somewhere else than just the ticket if we were in Omaha.
