  1. Long shot but looking for three 100 level tickets for Saturday against Iowa. Taking my girlfriend to her first game with Mom. Will pay fair price. Can anyone help? Dave
  2. Anyone eise find it a tad bit odd in a game where we didn't play well AND with no Jordy AND with foul trouble AND after playing almost the entire second half at Penn State (including OT) that Jack McVeigh couldn't even get on the floor one time tonight? Very odd.
  3. My timing for the original post couldn't have been better. Tonight was Robys coming out party. He single handedly won us this game with big play after big play. His freakish athletic ability was on full display on the almost Michael Jordan dunk. His handles on full display with both hands. His basketball IQ - which is through the roof. Getting 10+ rebounds undersized at the 5. He is going to be BY FAR the best player of the Miles era - first team all big 10 as a senior - and a late first round NBA pick. He is grounded and won't stop working.
  4. Glad he is coming back... but won't lie to you - am a bit peeved, as I feel it cost us the PSU game, and that could have us in the NIT instead of the NCAA. Either way, welcome back... hope its for the longhaul and not just until the summer.
  5. Who do you think it is? I'm going to say Mr. Roby is the most likely current Husker to break our current NBA drought. Man, it seems like just yesterday, in Danny's last year, we had the most current players in the NBA of any Big 12 school. Would like to see us get more as it means current success with tournament appearances AND a continued uptick in recruiting. Look forward to reading your thoughts on this topic.
  6. If the reason is "he's frustrated with his development," it might be time to be a man, look in the mirror and take some ownership. His coach has STOOD BEHIND HIM with starting him EVERY SINGLE GAME and he just improved a lot his last time out. Stick it out, Jordy. It's not always someone else's fault when things aren't going well, and you aren't that far from being where you want to be. Plus, I thought we were a TEAM here.
  7. Duh. The thread title was supposed to be "glass half full". I'm a moron. lol
  8. First of all, a continued THANK YOU to HHCDIMES for running this place and making it better than ever over the last three years. It's still the premiere fan site for NCAA basketball on the entire Internet, hands down, and it's for NEBRASKA BASKETBALL, which is the most amazing part about it. I don't chime in very often anymore, and I'm often times guilty of being fired up/upset when I do post. That's why I thought I should chime in tonight for a change. After the St Johns game, I was 99% done with Tim Miles - I'll admit it. I was "up to here" with losing by 20 to mediocre teams on the road - "up to here" with key players transferring or leaving the program early - and "up to here" with coaches leaving and only one post-season appearance. HOWEVER.......... over the last month........ a strange thing has happened. I now believe again. No, seriously, I really do. This team looks the part of a 5th or 6th seed in an admittedly down Big 10, but a Power 5 conference nonetheless. They will enter Big 10 play 10-5 (1-1) and win nine more conference games, for final marks of 19-12 (10-8). Yes, I have them at 19-12 (10-8), meaning two wins in the Big 10 tournament will get you into the dance, and one will get you "on the bubble" Selection Sunday. To this point, we are ONE WIN OFF where we need to be to be on target for the NCAA's. We don't have a key out of conference road or neutral site win, with KU our last chance at an IMPRESSIVE nonconference win. Still, we're only one game off the pace, and could VERY EASILY land in the Tournament this year. The athleticism and depth is the best its been in years. The team has a great chance to be HEALTHY headed into Big 10 play, with a full week off before KU then three patsies. Our team really should be 100% health (or as close as you can be to it) with Michigan State completely out of the way and only one more tough tough Big 10 road game (At Minnesota). I think the league is really down. That is also good because our nonconference schedule will make EVERY GAME (outside of Kansas) feel winable from here on out. In league, every game will seem like playing Boston College or below, since we have MSU out of the way and played such a killer schedule to prepare us for league. In short, the schedule sets up VERY NICELY for a run - the team appears to have a great chance to be HEALTHY - and the players have a LOT OF POSITIVE TRAJECTORY. I see Jordy, Roby, Allen, Copeland and Watson all getting much better as the year goes on. GBR!!! Keep the faith - and to Coach Miles, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong about you if you can take this team to the NCAA's. I do think NIT is 90% with this team - floor is 7-11 in league. Dave
  9. Tremendous win. Best single game performance (in my opinion) since the magical run in 2013-2014 - perhaps since... gasp... Wisconsin? My main takeway from tonight that hasn't already been mentioned in this thread (I agree with everyone on pretty much everything) is something I've been thinking but hadn't officially decided until tonight. Thomas Allen is going to be a STUD here. Like... really good.
  10. It's also very possible Jacobson and Morrow would have improved from last year, too. Though our recent track record doesn't show too many guys getting much better from year to year (Pitchford, McVeigh, Jordy three that come to mind immediately)
  11. Sure would be nice to have junior campaigns of Mike Jacobson and Ed Morrow. I know that's the hottest take of all hot takes and it doesn't matter because its not reality, but man.... oh man....
  12. I don't want to be doom and gloom... but I'm having trouble seeing more than 12 wins on the schedule. I don't think one post season appearance out of six years is what any of us had in mind when we opened up the Vault with that magical night against "Dunk City" and dominated them. Such is life, though, and perhaps this group will define all logic and go on an obscene run. GBR
  13. Might be harsh but nothing unfair or untrue about what I said.
  14. As long as we have a revolving door of transfers who only stay 1-2 years, and a continuous pattern of key/best players leaving early, we will go nowhere. It's sad, too, because we had a HUGE opportunity with new practice facility and arena. I fear unless the next guy gets it right, we'll have the door slammed on the facility opportunity as its only a matter of another decade before we become average again.
  15. This looks as if it may be a long, long season...
  16. RIP to a staple of this board and a man who loved Husker Hoops more than any of us. A huge loss to not only his family, friends and loved ones, but also to the site. Sending family strength and prayers and thinking of him a lot. -dave
  17. No way in heck we should have beaten that team by 30. We played great today. Vegas spread was 10. beating them by 20+ is terrific. -The Ghost Named Dave
  18. Boehm needs to be fired way before Miles. If he is allowed to be a part of ridding Miles and then making ANOTHER hire, I am done with this program. Keep Miles, fire Boehm. He's a joke.
  19. Absolutely NO WAY Miles should be fired after this season, nor will he. However, I believe it will be "tournament or bust" next year, as it should be with that talented roster and what will be a (fairly) experienced team, with the shine of the new facilities wearing off one more year and the fan interest (seemingly) losing luster if we don't perform. I believe Miles will be back next year - no reason in hell to fire him, even despite my overall disappointment with how this season has gone.
  20. I'm only being 50% serious. I just feel like I've been gut punched about as much as I can take without healing.
  21. Anyone else just wish the university would put us out of our misery and eliminate the program? We have been choking since B.C, days (and that's not Barry Collier) Really really disappointing and really really getting sick of this. Same thing every year. What's the definition of insanity?
  22. These podcasts are excellent.
  23. Miles deserves two more years, barring a dreadful 2017-2018. Lets pump the brakes a bit - the last two guys got six years and took us to zero tournaments. He's had five and taken us to one, and this group certainly won't stay together if he's fired after this year. He needs 1-2 more years after this, period. With that said, we got pistol whipped by CU and its getting freaking old.
  24. KIDNEY!!!???!!!
  25. I am BEYOND CLOUD NINE to this point of the basketball season with this team, the direction of the program and the results in general of these first hand full of games. Let me go on record as saying I was the exact opposite at the end of last season. I felt generally pessimistic about our freshman (incoming sophomores), the turnover of assistants and key players, and while I never gave up or lost hope with Miles, became skeptical for the first time in a long time. I couldn't be more on the other end of the bipolar spectrum at the moment. Gotta give guys like NORM credit who were always gung ho about this team. Although, Norm is the kind of fan (the best kind) that likely was also gung ho about Dan Heimos and Justin Boeker led clubs, but I digress. The growth of Glynn Watson developing his outside shot and the extra confidence is staggering. Tai Webster has stuck it out and grown more in 4 years than any player I can remember in recent history. He has become the player we all thought he'd be when Fran Frischilla proclaimed him a Top 30 type player going into his freshman year. Ed Morrow - MY GOSH. I'm wondering how much the injury slowed him down last year because this guy is a MONSTER. Did anyone else notice that MAN CHILD one handed rebound he slapped home last night in the second half? The guy looks like a STUD in the making. I don't remember this kind of athleticism from a big since...................... was Venson Hamilton that athletic? Jack McVeigh is going to be a VERY good player for us - I've seen he's gotten a lot of negativity due to his defense not being the best the last couple of nights and shots not always falling, but this kid has major upside. I'm not discouraged at all. I wish Jacobson would quit shooting three's - that's going to make me lose hair - but other than that, he looks great and has obviously put in the work in the weight room. He looks fantastic when he shoots the ball where he should - mid-range and in! Off the bench, I think Roby reminds me of another Roby.... Richard.... from Colorado... I think this kid has NBA upside. Jeriah Horne needs to get a few more minutes because he looks like a man child. Like a young Larry Florence. Jordy just as advertised. NBA upside, raw as hell. Probably a lot like a kid named Mikki Moore, who Danny once told me his biggest regret was not red shirting. He'll be special by the end. Anton Gil - I read someone here say he shouldn't be in the rotation? Really? What are you smoking? The kid has big time potential to fill it up from downtown - let's not forget he's been injured and been way behind all fall. He will be in our starting lineup at some point, I'm quite sure of it, perhaps in place of McVeigh. Evan Taylor - only guy on this team that's a project/an offensive liability. I feel like they want him to be this defensive stopper and that's why he plays so much, but I'm not certain he IS that stopper. See a very nice 11th/12th man next year and a great team first guy. Reminds me of Joe Holmes. He's only guy on this entire roster (outside of Fuller) who I see as a reach. And guess what - EVERY Big 10 team - even MSU or Indiana or Michigan or Wisconsin - all have a couple "reaches" on their rosters. That we have come this far with talent and athleticism blows my mind. I kid you not, this is going to be a SPECIAL team. Maybe not this year as far as W/L's go - but FOR SURE next year and beyond. And in the meantime, don't be surprised one bit if this team sneaks into the NCAA's this year. I'm convinced NIT is absolute floor for this team and Sweet 16 is the upside. Laugh if you want. Those are my thoughts. This team looks like a big time team and we now have size and athleticism to match up with just about anyone. GO BIG RED!!! -Your Old Friend Dave
