  1. I don't see Watson and Allen playing together much. That would be a small backcourt. PG: Watson / Allen / Taylor / Gill SG: Palmer / Nana / Gill SF: Copeland / McVeigh / Roby / Taylor PF: Roby / ?? / Copeland / McVeigh C: Jordy / Okeke I still see one glaring hole on the team and Hans would fill that nicely and if Copeland isn't eligible first semester, that hole is even bigger. I like having both Allen and Nana getting minutes, but allowing them to transition to college ball off the bench. I'd like to think all starters will get 20-30 minutes and the back-up will get the remaining 10-20 minutes. I like the looks of this team. If we can get Hans, I would hold the last scholly for a transfer or bank it.
  2. Patting myself on the back a little....not sure why it took Miles so long to see it. From November 29th (following the Va. Tech game):
  3. I did see a lineup in the first half of the V-Tech game that I thought might our most effective lineup later in the year. It was Watson, Webster, Horne, Roby and Morrow. Now, Horne and Roby have to get better, but it leads to a lot of versatility in offense and defense (once Horne and Roby get some experience). This group was only together for 2-3 minutes, but I thought that grouping could be really good by the end of the year.
  4. Now that we've seen a little bit of this team, what does everyone think will happen? Here's my prediction for the stat distribution for this year's team. In trying to do this, it was difficult to predict the order of our scoring from most points to least. Best guess is below: Stats: (order based on scoring) T. Webster 12 pts 4 reb 3 ass 2 st I. Roby 11 pts 4 reb 3 ass 1 bl G. Watson 10 pts 2 reb 6 ass 2 st M. Jacobson 9 pts 6 reb 1 bl E. Morrow 8 pts 5 reb 1 bl J. McVeigh 7 pts 2 reb A. Gill 6 pts 2 reb J. Tshimanga 5 pts 3 reb E. Taylor 4 pts 2 reb J. Horne 3 pts 1 reb TOTALS 75 points 31 rebs I see a fairly balanced team. Going into the year I thought Gill would be one of our top 2 scorers, but from what I've read, I've lower my expectations for him and increased my expectations for Roby. My biggest question is who is going to be our 'go to' scorer at the end of games. I think we will have the ball in Watson's hands to create a shot for himself or someone else. My prediction is 10-8 in the BIG and we'll be dancin! What does everyone think?
  5. Watching the game was miserable. Iowa played well, we didn't. Our guys seemed to lack any confidence and/or offense basketball iq. Instead of simply pulling up for a relatively open jumper, we'd hesitate (which allows the defense to recover). Instead of cutting to the hoop aggressively, we seemed to be a step of two slow (which allows the defense to recover). We just don't seem to have much of any flow on offense. Do we actually set screens off the ball? We don't screen well, cut hard, anticipate well or pass well (and we're sloppy with the ball on top of that). Teams have scouted our weaknesses well, and we currently have no counter. We should be able to get a couple of bunnies with how teams cheat to help with Terran and Shavon. The best word I can come up with to describe our offense is: AWKWARD.
