I follow Nebraska and Arizona every game and others as I can find time, and every game I watch it is more than just human error, it's anticipating fouls that don't happen, it's calling negligible contact and ignoring significant contact. I think the game moves too fast for the referees. Maybe it's always been this awful and it is only noticeable now because there are more cameras, all confirming their ineptitude in dazzling 1080 HD.

I'm tempted to stop supporting any teams and just attend every sporting event just to criticize the officiating. While I don't believe the officials are out to get Nebraska, I do believe they are terrible. I watched UCLA @ Arizona the other night and Alford for UCLA dodged around a post hedge, awkwardly, but no contact was made, and a foul was called. The announcers pointed it out, in fact Jay Bilas was pretty critical the officiating in much of the game. I think D1 basketball is like an anecdote about the F-16 I once heard, that it could maneuver faster than pilots could handle. I think insurance agents and high school principals are hopelessly overmatched officiating 21st century basketball. I saw an article awhile back about the NBA trying to encourage former players into officiating as they had greater sense of the action on the court and the nature of playing the game. I'd like to see the B1G and the NCAA promote a similar initiative.

In the early days of this board we fought hard to keep a civil tone and not allow the vitriol and hatred that is present on so much of the internet/social media, and the thing is, just like the game officiating, if you call it consistently, and enforce the rules, people will behave in a civil and responsible way. I know there will be an argument from the "free speech" crowd (remember that free speech is only a protection from government restrictions on speech and excludes libel, slander, obscenity and hate speech) but people who engage in that sort of conduct need to be held accountable and identified publicly, Every post on this board from me has been with public knowledge of my name, and I stand behind all of them. I support the requirement that participation in social media and comment sections should not be permitted anonymously. If you want to be a troll, put your real name and identity out there and take the public scrutiny, if not, crawl back under the bridge.

Just did a quick check, using statistics from the B1G web site. The Huskers have attempted 203 free throws in conference. Husker opponents have attempted 288 free throws in conference. In the last three games the difference is 86-16 in the opponents' favor. So, is the solution that we need to drive to the basket more?

Agreed! But I think his talents may be more than just as an outside shooter. Can he make 4-point shots? Game changer!

I can just see his jersey White 43

In order for them to do that, it'd have to be allowed for them to do that. If they saw him hit Walt first they could call it on the replay. I believe officials have discretion for calling technicals for misconduct and provoking. Did he hit Walt? He had Walt's arm, but it didn't look like he was provoking anything. That kind of hold happens quite often during a game, I'd suspect. And that kind of hold happening all the time is why I believe college officials are terrible

I have no problem with Pitchford's ejection, but how can the official look at the replay, see the blatant hold and not call a foul or a technical on the player holding him? Pitchford shouldn't hit the guy, but if guys get away with holding and nothing gets called, then frustration is going to boil over. Hitting is wrong, but so is blatant, uncalled holding. College basketball referees are terrible
