  1. I was so frustrated by this loss. How many times in the last 20 years have I seen this same finish. Winnable game, momentum builder, 2-3-4 chances to get the winning basket, nope.
  2. I watched a number of CSU games when Miles was there, his teams were scrappers and team players, so I don't think it's a philosophy issue. Miles had a lot of medium to small guys taking the fight to the opponent every night and winning. I think Pettaway and Pitchford are BIg Ten caliber players, but they are not complete players nor team leaders, yet. I'm not knocking them, I find a lot to like about them, but at this point, roles on this team are still being defined and we lack true leadership on the court. Why? Our senior is a shooting specialist (I wish he'd shoot more, but missing those early games and the injury seems to have sapped some confidence) Webster, our point guard and floor orchestrator isn't shooting at all and seems too nervous with the ball. One of our glue guys last year, Rivers, is watching the entire game from the bench. Shields, the only guy returning from last year who looked Big Ten ready, is invisible for long stretches. We take too many questionable threes, and the easy transition baskets aren't there because we lack a confident primary ball handler. We are trailing in rebounding, and when we do rebound, I'm not seeing quick outlet passes, I'm seeing lateral and backward passes so we come down to face a set defense rather than transition. The thing that gives me hope is that Pettaway and Shields have shown the ability to get to the rim, and finish. Pettaway has been fairly consistent with that, and Shields showed some spark with it to start the second half last night. I think we need to find someone on the team who is going to rebound (Rivers?) and someone who is going to push in transition (Parker? Biggs?) There are minutes to be claimed by guys who want to claim these roles. Now's the time fellas. Also, a crying shame that in the most whistle-plentiful season in living memory, we are missing foul shots. Drive, draw fouls, deliver 2 points. Let's go Huskers!
  3. Yes and yes! K thnx thought maybe might be my internet BTDN trying to help the Huskers by showing baskets made twice so viewers don't fall asleep during brickfest
  4. I don't think uniforms make the difference for the positive or negative. My point is really, are we about winning or fashion? Win games and you can wear whatever you want.
  5. Didn't we wear black as our standard road jerseys in the late 90s? Which only renews my question, what's the record? I remember some disappointment in the road blacks in the early 90s.
  6. I ask again, what's the overall record in the black uniforms? Saw a tweet from Brian Rosenthal alluding to the UCLA FB debacle and a suggestion UNL might want to ditch the black color scheme across the sports.
  7. What's the all-time record in the black uniforms? Better or worse than the red?
  8. Don't be ridiculous. Dungeons and Dragons is on Friday night.
  9. The Cornfield Big Red Bench The Cornhusker Cafe (jk) Red All Over The Library (for us old timers)
  10. HIgh scoring matchup with Donnie Boyce's Buffs http://youtu.be/WFJofhXgABA
  11. Scoff if you want, but David Hasselhoff was in the Arizona football student section with his daughter a year or two ago and the kids went nuts, and Bill Murray was at McKale Center and all of us old guys went nuts, so we got that going for us.

  13. Canada! Can't wait to put down the smart phone for a week. Hope you have a happy 21st. Be smart. Not making an arse of yourself> drinking to prove something. I've been to Canada for the Fourth twice. Vancouver and Montreal. So nice to be cool in July. Love love love Vancouver.
  14. Sorry for the layoff. More nostalgia coming at ya. http://youtu.be/kdKdKBnOHck
  15. Yep. Bill Laimbeer,Rick Mahorn, and The Worm killed beautiful basketball.
  16. As someone who has had a very negative opinion of the NBA until recently, I disagree with the idea that it was because it wasn't given a fair chance. For those of us who started watching the NBA in the Erving/Johnson/Bird/Jordan era,the NBA of the Webber, Sprewell, Iverson era just wasn't as good. The league over-expanded, it relied to heavily on players who had little or no college development (in terms of skills and in terms of capturing fans interest in their NCAA time and carrying over to the NBA) The NBA games I saw in the 2000s were ragged and dull due to an excess of physical play and a lack of fundamentals or team play. The same problem college basketball is now experiencing. I took a serious look at the NBA this postseason for the first time since 1999 or so, and found some things I really like. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson lighting up scoreboards for GSW, the Pacers and Grizzlies use of a legitimate center and classic point guard, the opportunity to despise the immensely talented Manu Ginobli, the early departure of the Lakers. The return of the fun that had died while watching J.R. Rider and Ben Wallace was resurrected for me by the return of shooters and offense instead of 23.5 seconds of wrassling. I'll still take Peltz over Lebron though, Peltz has scored more points and won more games in college than King James did :-)
  17. Don't worry a lot of us stop posting around the five minute mark so we can get home.
  18. But it's still a valid observation. He might have the athleticism to be in the NBA but I don't think he has the game for it. It seems to be a recurring theme (see Ubel) but I wish he would have redshirted his freshman year instead of waiting until after his sophomore year to have that epiphany. I like the kid and I think having some guys that can drive and dish to him will help a ton. I know Rey can drive but he rarely does. I'm not sure why. Even if you can't finish, get fouled. But whatever. I hope he has more success this upcoming season. Drive may not be his game, but there were a few times where he looked like he could make it his game. I believe that Ray will be a valuable asset next season no matter what role he plays. Like uneblinstu said, best defender on the team. His ability to force turnovers really surfaced this past season. I hope in the off season he can up the 3pt% a bit and find the confidence to drive. Lock him in the room with the big TVand Stephen Curry playoff videos.
  19. Win and they will show. Perform badly, and they will find something else to do that is more exciting. It's not like the bottom of a beer mug is all that exciting, I it's mean not like the kids' plate at the old Bishop's Buffet or anything ;-)
