Nebraska (22-10) vs. Mississippi State (22-11) Game Thread
hhcscott replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It was the same team, just not the same effort. I can't explain it, but I'm not going to accept disappointment as an excuse. If you want to have better, do better. We had two tournaments the big ten and NIT to show the "real Nebraska" and we did not get the job done. -

I said committee...not Lunardi. It's sports, results matter, not opinion. I love this team, but we did not show up the last two games. -

I guess Nebraska wasn't undervalued by either selection committee. They were slightly worse than a #4 seeded NIT team. -

It's the same thing every time, that's how he has 14 assists. -

The one the announcer blamed on too much dribbling? Or the other 4 not called on MSU? -

Auto bid to the NCAA for the two finalists? -
As a team that has had a long drought of any sort of postseason success, let's go out and make some noise in the NIT. If we all believe that there are a lot of snubs in the NIT that should have been in the NCAA, then it isn't a bad thing to go out and beat those teams. If the players aren't motivated for Anton and Evan, if they aren't interested in proving that the seeding and selections made a mistake, if they just aren't all that keen to keep playing then why are all of us wasting our time watching, writing, and thinking about them? This team showed a lot of heart all season , cutting deficits and making clutch plays, so I have to believe they will keep working hard.

It's possible they were out of state fans. I'm looking forward to the 6:00 tip here in Arizona.

Here's the thing, (and I say this as a Arizona football season ticket holder with games regularly running from 8-midnight) play the game at 7 and show it on tape delay. Then you can stop screwing those who pay to attend and those who are committed to watching on TV will watch it anyway. With DVR, I watch 60% of my sports time shifted anyway.

This is what I was thinking of: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/29/sports/ncaafootball/pac-12-and-big-ten-announce-scheduling-partnership.html It was scrapped within a year http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/14/sports/ncaafootball/scheduling-partnership-linking-pac-12-and-big-10-falls-apart.html

Hey TIM, double this guy getting off the BUS.
-
Plus we have the opportunity to get payback on Baylor for the 2014 NCAA embarrassment as long as Tim doesn't try to notify the officials of clock management issues.
-
One question, do they have any gawky looking bench players with odd names? Those guys always kill us with career nights from the arc.
-
We've all been so hung up on the injustice of the seed and the road game, but man-o-man, if we are as good as we think we are, how does MSU have to feel about this game? We beat them once already, in that gym, we have more guys healthy and firing on all cylinders, and we have a grudge. With a crowd <10,000 on a Wednesday night?

Based on the metrics they are using, the B14G can't be good unless the whole conference commits to playing all quad 1 non-conference opponents next year and comes out with .750 winning percentage across all 14. The problem, as it has been in football is that the murderers row that we have in the conference knocks all our teams down. We keep talking about how PSU beat OSU, but every time that happened, I have to believe it dinged our conference because it reduced the impact of OSU on the conference RPI. I was going to suggest that the PAC-12 and the B14G work up a crossover scheduling (there was a plan that fizzled to do this a few years ago) so that more games for both conferences will be P5, but based on what we are seeing that would only screw both conferences even more

I just assumed it was reflex...putting Bobby Hurley in the NCAA tournament is the default setting for the NCAA. Contract with the (Sun/Blue) Devil.

I'm going to be happy if we are playing in the NCAA or NIT. I think that a prolonged run in the NIT sets is up for next year even better than a first round loss in the NCAAs, but, if we can get that monkey of our back, the benefits of two or three games in the Dance will be the best thing to happen to the Cornhuskers, so as disappointed as I was to to lose to Michigan, I think the future is bright short and long term as long as we are playing at least a few more games this season.

Based on location. B1G referees are all geography majors, but only east of the Missouri River. -

Agree. Young team that has posed matchup challenges for most of the conference, win the rest and make noise in the B1G tournament -

I saw no difference in the "indisputability" of either out of bounds call. Both should have been left as called, but of course not.
