Mississippi State wins their first team national championship in school history:

Vanderbilt is the 7th team to pack their bags and leave Omaha:

It turns out a 9-0 blowout snoozefest CWS game is FAR more enjoyable to watch than a nailbiter game with an annoying Vandy whistler.

Key stat of the day: Mississippi State is only 1 of 3 Power Five schools to never win a single national championship in any team sport. The other two? Kansas State and Virginia Tech.

The Vandy whistler blowing his three whistles, then the entire Mississippi State crowd screams "LET'S GO STATE" in unison as a response. Well played.

Better than taking the signature Doc Sadler approach to winning, quantity over quality. Go big o go home. We only get better by playing these teams.

I really have nothing against Vanderbilt. And they're a very solid team; been a good decade for them. Very solid pitching over the years. But that Vandy whistler. The absolute worst. Just makes me want Vanderbilt to lose and have their program go the way of UNO wrestling.

I don't care if/when they leave. Just please continue the momentum and use this as an opportunity to bring in additional talent for years to come.

We knew this all along, but I'm glad they finally admit that Colorado is charity.

I see what you're saying...but these NCAA COVID policies have been known for all Fall, Winter, and Spring sports. Shouldn't some of the onus be on the players for not taking precautions? If the championship was on the line for me, I would consider taking extreme measures to stay within the policy. (Not looking to politicize here, just a mention where I see some players refusing to get vaccinated. And that's within their right, but if it were me I would be extra cautious even selfishly just so I wouldn't sit out any games, let alone my entire team.)

With that, NC State is the fifth team to pack their bags in Omaha. Their baseball Twitter account doesn't have any posts or reactions about the news at this point, so we'll just go with the last thing that was posted:

I'd agree with that. I was still in "the verdict is still out" mode with Moos. Nothing bad. Just that he was blowing through so much cash for the program, those returns on investment were just longer term projects. And I didn't feel we saw those returns (or should have expected to yet) and the ROI was still TBD.

I'm afraid to see what the Omaha Blues fans are saying right now about our incredibly scandalous football program after they received the news that "everyone else is doing it" for their basketball program.

Texas started off the game strong and finishes with a big inning in T9 to send Virginia home. Virginia is the fourth team to pack its bags in Omaha.
