FSU (1-3) vs. Nebraska (3-3) Game Thread

A team like this can get a bye day in the first round of the Big Ten tournament. Hope we can gel together and play hard in conference play. -

If we can't close out a game against Florida State, we're in real trouble. -

I wonder how many rock bottom threads Florida State has. -

So, anybody hear any updates on how the Nebraska baseball offseason is going? -

It's been talked about for maybe a year or two. First time hearing there may be some draft paperwork in the works. Could we be so lucky to have a disgruntled Christiano join the party?? -

Group B : USA 2 MP, 2 pts, 0-2-0; 1GF 1GA (0 GD) MUST WIN 1. Win. That's it. Group C : Mexico 2 MP, 1 pt, 0-1-1; 0GF 2GA (-2 GD) MUST WIN 1. Win and Poland defeat Argentina 2. Win and Argentina defeat Poland soundly (GD) Group E : Costa Rica 2 MP, 3 pts, 1-0-1; 1GF 7GA (-6 GD) WIN OR TIE (and technically LOSE) 1. Win outright 2. Tie and Spain defeats Japan 3. Lose and Spain defeats Japan the way they defeated Costa Rica (GD) (TBD based on Spain/Germany today) Group F : Canada 2 MP, 0 pts, 0-0-2; 1GF 5GA (-4 GD) ELIMINATED -
If this is guaranteed money and not performancd-based, this vastly changes my perspective on the hire.

It's weeks like this that I have to remind myself how talented this team is and we're surrounded around really good competition. Hopefully we can make a good run in the NCAA tournament. -
Cracks me up every time I watch that clip

Good catch. Somehow forgot Frost was fired after Georgia Southern and not the Oklahoma blowout.

Why are we even talking about a coaching change? If we didn't give Tom Osborne time, we wouldn't have any national championships in the '90s! </s>

Finally putting an end to this debacle. All-Time Worst Football Coaching Winning Percentages at Nebraska: Pete Elliott (1956): 4-6 (3-3); 40% (50%) Scott Frost (2018-2022): 16-31 (10-26); 34% (28%) Mickey Joseph (2022): 3-6 (3-5); 33% (38%) Bill Jennings (1957-1961): 15-34-1 (8-24); 31% (25%) Glenn Presnell (1942): 3-7 (3-2); 30% (60%) Bernie Masterson (1946-1947): 5-13 (5-5); 28% (50%) Adolph J. Lewandowski (1943-1944): 4-12 (4-6); 25% (40%) Alonzo Edwin Branch (1899): 1-7-1 (N/A); 17% (N/A)

Some Iowa fans were "fighting" over the trophy and refusing to let the Husker players pick it up. How petty those grown adults are fighting with 20 year old kids

Everybody knows it by now. But dedicating a space for it. Let the puns commence.

There is an element of "do the players care anymore?" that does need to be considered and hard to measure. And this is assuming it just wasn't a complete lost cause with the locker room. But Mickey's overall wins matched Frost's worst seasons. And his conference record was right around where Frost typically ended up. It's the same team. It's not like Mickey had any different players or coaches than Frost had, so you're dealing with the exact same set of cards. Our conference wins were against 1-6 and 2-7 (last and 2nd to last B1G East) teams prior to Iowa. If Frost didn't win those two games it would've been some other one we never would have expected. Regardless, the one thing you could rely on Frost for was to keep games close enough to give you hope they're not a complete wreck, then remind you the next week that they're no better than the bottom of the Big Ten. -

Whole lot of fight when we play Wisconsin, but we sure do get overmatched. May not have won the conference title this year, but we still have a chance to win when it matters the most. One more and then we're onto the tournament. -

Matt Rhule. It's a 2-for-1 sport deal. Gets a bit murky around November, but it's no worse of a situation than we're in with two coaches. -

I'm not sure that's the reason. I'm in the belief that we had a better chance of making a bowl game had we kept Frost through the entire season. But I also believe that Trev wanted to cut ties when the time was right not only because it "felt right" at that time, but also because he didn't want to allow Frost the opportunity to even have a shot at becoming bowl eligible and going through legal grey areas where he fulfilled his signed amendment to get back to full pay and "good" standing. If there's nothing worth playing for with or without Hoiberg that actually favors just firing him now, not keeping him around. -

The midseason firing of Frost was personal for Trev. I don't think Trev will do the same to Hoiberg.
