We're behind schedule on this because we had Charlie Henry locked down until Nate Oats got the Alabama job and then we didn't Look at Lutz in a development role, not assistant. Keep an eye out for St Johns DOBO Chris Huey here. He's a Kansas grad (he made headlines for seeing the floor as a student manager)
-
Nebraska was on Larry Eustacy's list...that doesn't mean he was a contender for the job.
-
Disappointed by the lack of mustache by Lutz. He also appears to be a 'North Carolina boat guy' from the looks of those glasses.

This was your chance to page Bobby Lutz -
Only if it results in wins. Does he change his style because that's what they want at UCLA?

Looks like we've reached out to Eric Williams from Duquesne

Sorry i'm not taking the time to look this up but what was Miles' number and how much of that went to just the 3 assistants?

If we're keeping Gates he's under salary for $256k. To put that in perspective, head coach Travis DeCuire at Montana is making $175k which is good money. I assume we want two recruiters and one Xs and Os guy and that Matt A and Gates are the recruiters. I don't think we have to pay Matt A money to get an Xs and Os guy. How hard a number exactly is that 1M from Moos at the presser? I guess we'll see if we have our third guy but doesn't seem like it. We're also not hearing anything official on Gates. Is this all in flux because if our 3rd guy is also a recruiter does that mean he's actually our second guy and we won't retain Gates? I have to admit that i'm not skilled in the art of logical fallacies but did I get in the ballpark of presenting arguments whose validity requires that its own conclusion is true @atskooc?

I don't think Lutz needs to work and I don't think he's real interested in hitting the road recruiting. The reason when his name is leaked out and there isn't clarity on his position most probably because he will not be an assistant. His resume screams director of player development or something along those lines. We're putting a lot of money into this thing; we're going to be rolling out a bunch of new positions

In terms of coaching, Mullin makes Danny Nee look like Tom Izzo.

I dug deeper and now I understand why this isn't clear ---------------------------------------------------------------- Student-athletes will be able to participate in the NBA draft and return to school if undrafted, pending future action from the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association. Currently, college athletes who are interested in going pro can declare for the draft and attend the NBA combine, but must withdraw no more than 10 days after the combine to stay eligible. http://www.ncaa.org/about/committed-change#flexibility NBA draft flexibility College basketball players who request an Undergraduate Advisory Committee evaluation, participate in the NBA combine and aren’t drafted can return to school as long as they notify their athletics director of their intent by 5 p.m. the Monday after the draft. This change is effective if/when the NBA and NBPA make an expected rule change, which would make undrafted student-athletes who return to college after the draft ineligible for the NBA until the end of the next college basketball season. http://www.ncaa.org/about/flexibility-going-pro-and-getting-degree ------------------------ The NCAA changed their rules but the NBA also has to change their rules. It doesn't seem like the NBA has changed their rules yet.
-
Isn't that based on last year's rules of having to withdraw your name within 10 days of the combine? Assuming he is invited to the combine and doesn't hire an agent I think he has until June 24th to decide.

Was there anyone else from Texas Tech worth spotlighting? More Tubby Smith look-ins perhaps.

2019 - Transfer- Maurice Calloo -> Oregon St
hhcmatt replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Sorry, thought I had posted this in recruiting -
The assumption was that he had to say here because else he'd have to sit out a year. However in this day and age of transfer waivers I'd say changing the coach plus wanting to be closer to home would probably get him out of here if that's what he wants to do.

2019 - Transfer- Maurice Calloo -> Oregon St

They scrubbed him from the site The question would be whether they did so while he was there or after he was dismissed at Okie St. https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/maurice-calloo/QOgdK79CEeeT-Oz0u-e-FA/photo/full_size.htm -

In terms of rebounding and shooting, Calloo seems like the most like answer to the question "What would it look like if Ed Morrow actually started shooting 3s?" He'd certainly fill a need in terms of size and rebounding and if he ends up here hopefully we can teach him to shoot. -

hhcmatt replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Assuming he doesn't get deported as he facing charges in OK I'm not sure if he would be eligible mid-semester or would have to sit out a year. St Johns was looking at him last year so the connection was already established there. It's tempting to point the finger at Michael Weathers here but who knows. It's pretty important that we bring in some strong character guys because we're also going to bring in guys with histories. -

He was on the team then, didn't play. -
Dismissed from Okie St this winter along with 2 other teammates because they went out, bought BB/pellet guns, and started shooting cars and windows. In his spare time he's a 6'8" 200# forward from Canada who played at Oak Hill Academy

I don't know. He'd fit in either as an assistant or hopefully as the director of player development, assuming we will have this position like Hoiberg did at Iowa St. If we're looking to continue to recruit the East Coast he'd certainly work in that capacity because he's connected in North Carolina. If we're talking about Lutz as our 'defensive specialist' that's not what I'm seeing from his numbers. I know Hoiberg wants coaching experience on his roster, but I'd hope Lutz could bring that in a non-recruiting role.
