Yeah, they look pretty sus, as the kids would say. Wish I could just swipe left and delete them cuz I’m sure not clicking on them either.

Feel like in the past 2 seasons, we’ve seen way more egregious, flagrant fouls and/or fights and trash talking in the women’s college basketball game than ever before.
-
Good thoughts. Thanks for sharing! Quality of our player personnel does make me optimistic….but quality of our coaching staff does not.

Thanks Tom. Did Amy do a postgame radio show with Matt Coatney last night? Just wondering if anyone can tell me what she said. Any revelations from her that she’s not satisfied with the status of her program and she recognizes the need to change her approach? I hate to say it, but I look at this NU WBB staff and I think there are a couple individuals who are simply collecting a comfortable paycheck and not really contributing much in the way of recruiting, player development or Xs and Os game strategy. Just my impression.

Final record: 18-15 So why does it feel so much like a losing season to me? Back in November, if you had told me this season would end with NU getting beaten in the 3rd round of the WNIT, I would not have considered that to be a successful season worth celebrating. Yes, Allison’s injury was a gut punch and it affected the team’s play the rest of the year. But still… If Coach Amy makes absolutely no changes in this offseason, no changes in her coaching style, her offensive/defensive philosophy, her recruiting approach or changes to her assistant coaching staff, then we can expect next year to go no better than .500 — .600 winning percentage. (And perhaps a sub .500 conference record again) After 7 seasons, what reason do we have to believe that Amy will deliver anything different next year if she makes zero changes or adjustments this offseason?

No one does vague, empty, cliched coachspeak better than Amy Williams.

Won’t be an easy game at all. Kansas likely hasn’t forgotten losing at PBA in December. Wasn't the KU gave the game where Allison Weidner got hurt? No, I’m not saying her injury was the result of anything a KU player did. Allison was just making a great hustle play on defense, and fell out of bounds and collided knee first with a very unfortunately-placed cameraperson’s chair underneath the hoop. I only bring it up because the apparent severity of her knee injury put a damper on the satisfaction of NU winning that game.

Nope, don’t need another one cuz the original Jaz Shelley is returning for next season. Yep, that’s just how it’s gotta be. I can’t entertain any other possibilities other than Jaz playing b-ball for Nebraska next year. So, therefore, she’s staying. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt, friends….
-
A good win. The season is extended. My thoughts are with Sam. Suppose the program will disclose the exact nature of her injury, or nah?
-
Excited to have you aboard, Natalie, and I’m optimistic that you can come in and contribute as a freshman next year.
-
Everyone seems to be saying it’s a forgone conclusion that Bourne will not come back next year. I am holding out hope that Jaz may decide to return next season, especially with Australian Jessica Petrie coming in. Call it a long shot, call me delusional….I just have to hold out hope that Jaz comes back next year. But as I said on another post - if we lose Sam, Issie AND Jaz next year, no way will we be a better team next season than we were this season. (Not even with Allison W returning) Not with Amy and her staff’s history of under-developing the players on their roster, anyway.

Watching BTN on-demand. The 2014 conference championship victory over Iowa is available for viewing, so I’m reliving better days and watching it. My word, do I miss Rachel Theriot. What a complete player she was. Great court vision, great passer. Top notch instincts for the game. An absolute pleasure to watch her play. If memory serves, she was hampered by a nagging injury her last year and sadly wasn’t 100 percent on the court. Anyway, this is a fun game to watch. Hard to believe there was a time when Lisa Bluder and Iowa didn’t absolutely own NU WBB like they have the past 3 or 4 seasons.
-
Fair point. I’m guilty of forgetting just how young Maggie is.
-
Agree about Maggie M. As little as Maggie played this year, it’s almost like she wasted a year of her eligibility and could have instead taken a valuable redshirt year.

When does the women’s NIT announce its teams?

NU WBB Facebook page just posted that Logan Nissley was named the North Dakota Gatorade player of the year for the third consecutive year! An impressive feat, to be sure. However, I’m trying to temper my runaway enthusiasm by reminding myself that we’re talking about North Dakota - not exactly a basketball recruiting hotbed or a densely-populated state. It’s not like we’re getting the 3-time Texas or California high school player of the year. I just don’t want to place any unrealistic expectations on the performance of an incoming true freshman next year. And yet, in the absence of Sam and possibly Jaz, we may need her to contribute next season as a freshman. Hoping for the best for her!

Red Don, I’ve often wondered to myself if Amy Williams’ recruiting bridge to the Fremont community wasn’t burned to a crisp as a result of things going south with Jess Shepard the way that they did. I have nothing to base that on; just pure speculation on my part. But I don’t really blame Amy for that dynamic if so.

HUD, did Taylor McCabe run over your dog with her car when she was in high school, or something? Just kidding. I get that you feel McCabe is overrated as a player. You’re made that very clear on this board. I guess I respectfully disagree with you. While I certainly wouldn’t compare her talent to Clark’s or even think that Taylor will be anywhere near as impactful of a player as Clark, I can assure you Taylor McCabe is a talented player. How do I know? Because Lisa Bluder wouldn’t have signed her if she was overrated and couldn’t play ball at Iowa’s level. Bluder and her staff can actually recognize and evaluate high school talent, sign that talent to play in Iowa City and then fully develop that talent over a 4 year period. Unlike a certain coaching staff in Lincoln that I could name. Again, HUD, I have a ton of respect for your opinions on this board. I just happen to disagree with you on this one subject regarding McCabe. And that’s okay. Peace
-
Oh I know. I’ve been critical on this board about Amy Williams whiffing on that in-state recruit
-
Announcers mentioned Clark has one older brother and also one younger brother still in high school. Had to breathe a sigh of relief that she doesn’t have a younger sister coming up who might go to Iowa and terrorize us for another 4 years.
-
Honestly, there’s nothing you can do about Clark except just count down the days until she graduates and leaves Iowa. She’s simply on a different level than everyone else. (And it makes me sick to have to say that)
-
Admittedly, I’m not so much rooting FOR Ohio State as much as I’m rooting AGAINST Iowa.
-
Can OSU beat them? I sure hope so. In case I haven’t made it clear, my 2 favorite WBB programs are Nebraska and whoever happens to be playing Iowa
-
Obviously a lot to like about Britt’s game but I’ve been impressed with her court vision. A couple times she’s had the ball on the outside and saw a wide open teammate all alone in the post under the hoop and Britt fired the ball to her for the assist. Seems to be an unselfish player who wants to see her teammates succeed
-
Yep. Accountability? Transparency? Nope, that’s not how Amy rolls.
