Coach Amy Williams on Sports Nightly (pre-Rutgers Game)
Neb Nets replied to Red Don's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
True. But the WBB program kept the fans in the dark for a week after that Kansas game regarding the nature/severity of Allison’s injury. Sorry, I don’t mean to sound like an overly critical, entitled fan. Just hungry for info about this program which is why I value this forum so much as an info resource. -
Coach Amy Williams on Sports Nightly (pre-Rutgers Game)
Neb Nets replied to Red Don's topic in Row 6 Seat 10
Thanks for posting, Red Don So, was Trinity Brady officially diagnosed with a concussion from that earlier game? And she’s been held out for concussion recovery protocol this whole time? Seems like a long time. And like the fan said, Trinity hasn’t even been seen on the bench for several games now. Why? But true to form, Coach Amy was vague and nonspecific about the whole matter. I feel like Coach Amy could improve at being a more direct, concise communicator. She can tend to drone on and talk for an extended period of time without saying anything concrete or highly informative. -
I share your concerns about not even making the NCAA. On offense I feel like our team relies too heavily on the 3 point shot (I felt that way last year too) Yes, sometimes we have a great shooting day from downtown and we are very tough to beat….but other days, it’s CLANK City. If you live by the 3, you will eventually die by the 3 and it won’t take you to the promised land

Love the fearlessness that Hake is playing with. That’s how Weidner played, fearlessly
-
Wow, names on the backs of the jerseys - I can’t remember NU WBB doing that in the past?
-
Oh my. I hadn’t even considered Jaz deciding not to return next year. That would be another gutting loss Nope, don’t even want to think about that!
-
Losing her is a swift kick in the walnuts if there ever was one
-
I don’t know, friends…the team looked out of sorts tonight. And it’s such a brutal conference….if they can manage to go .500 in conference play, I might consider that a successful season. We’re gonna miss Weidner in ways we don’t even fully realize yet.
-
I fully expect Michigan to come out playing with an edge and spitting fire. No way have they forgotten NU bouncing them out of the B1G tourney back in March.
-
Thank you for posting something on this subject. I too have been dismayed by the “radio silence” from the NU WBB program regarding the nature of her injury. What purpose does that serve? As fans, we support the players and want to offer them prayers and encouragement when they tragically suffer unfortunate injuries like this. But I just feel like we’ve all been purposefully kept in the dark for a week now. Sorry, I don’t want to sound like an “entitled fan” - my heart is truly broken for a talented player whose season is apparently over.
-
Yep, noticed her on the floor talking to the team during a timeout. She was very ANIMATED
-
Hope someone will share the status of Weidner’s injury as soon as it’s made official by the WBB program. It would be a gutting loss if she’s out for the season. High basketball IQ, great rebounding for a guard, great defense…she just has a nose for the ball and can impact a game without even scoring a point. She makes things happen out there. Lord, I’m hoping she can be back this season
-
Hope you’re right. If we’re being honest, the WBB program needs her more than the VB program does

I feel awful for both Brady & Dillard. Talk about a couple of injury-plagued careers. Also felt awful when Taylor Kissinger had to retire early due to an injury. Sometimes it just ain’t in the cards
-
Good thoughts. What’s your opinion on K Coley playing the 3 spot? Defensively, I think it’s great - I love her length and athleticism. She could maybe develop into a lockdown defender in the vein of what Nicea Eliely was. Offensively, does Coley have the ball handling skills to be a threatening 3 i.e. to be able to slash, to penetrate towards the hoop and either dish it off to an open teammate or finish with a layup? But I also like Moriarty’s development lately. I think she’s a gem.

How dare someone schedule an event the afternoon of an NU WBB game?!
-
Maggie M’s first career points as a Husker come as a result of her going 2-2 at the FT line. Followed by a shot block at the other end. You love to see it
-
Anyone else holding their breath seeing Haiby in the game? Just hoping they aren’t bringing her back too soon. But perhaps I should just shut up and trust the NU medical staff who just maybe know more than I do
-
Good for Kennedi! She looked good in the Class A title game back in March. Someone told me a few months ago that Kennedi W is on the same club team as Britt Prince. Could Kennedi prove to be NU’s most useful recruiting tool in convincing Britt to come to Lincoln to play BB?? Fingers crossed…
-
Like seeing both the Kendalls in at the same time. I like their length on the defensive end.
-
I see depth in WBB as a plus. (Provided you can get all players on the same page and to “buy in”) If Coach Amy’s teams are 10-12 deep with everyone getting meaningful minutes/valuable experience, then during games against teams that are only 6-7 deep, Amy can throw wave after wave of fresh, experienced players at the those teams and theoretically run them out of the arena so that they are exhausted by the 4th quarter. And if the opposing teams are exhausted, their shooting percentages will decline, their passing will become sloppy causing turnovers and they’ll be more likely to foul while trying to play defense. Again, in theory. But lots of things look good “in theory”

NU getting after it tonight! I only wish that Kelly Sheffield could somehow be the Wisconsin WBB coach tonight so that NU could finally beat that guy in something. Keep up the great play, Huskers!
-
Mendelson, Markowski and Bourne. Man, that would be a formidable frontline! Was really hoping (still am hoping) that Kendall Coley would have a breakout season in the 3 spot this year. She seems more comfortable there than trying to play the 4 on the inside
-
Ugh, Bluder. Been a while since NU beat her, hasn’t it? I know we went 0-3 against her last season. And then to add insult to injury, she takes the top high school recruit in the state of Nebraska (Taylor McCabe) That stung like an angry hornet
