  1. No, the other 7'1" guy on our team. At the P5, division 1 level... no, it should not. We're allowing the 3rd most points per game in conference play. Our defense is stupid and poorly designed. It worked as a gimmick last year, and that's it. If you or anyone else doesn't agree with me.... go watch just exactly how much effort is required to play this defense when it "goes well." And tell me that, if any other part of your life, you put that much effort into something and it resulted in being the 3rd worst in our field, would you continue doing it?
  2. I don't know if I would call a former Pac-12 1st Team All Defense guy an old riding lawn mower sitting on the curb. He used to have double digit block games and many double digit rebounding games. The better analogy is that we had an old push lawn mower that ran great and got the job done, but you had to really work at it. Then one summer our brother-in-law let us use his $3000 zero turn mower for the cost of fuel and repairs, but instead of sitting on it and using it, we decided we'd push it from behind and use a bungie cord lever system to push the zero turn handles down.
  3. Hey guys just curious - if you had a 7'1" guy with a 20 foot wingspan who can jump out of the gym and was first team all defense in the pac whatever it's called - would you have him flying all over the place guarding ball screens, being on the perimeter, and bringing other dudes in the post to double with him?
  4. Hadn't had a chance to watch that yet. Just saw it... Idk that sounded like pretty typical coaching. Especially for NL. All gas no brakes.
  5. Swelling is good. Hopefully they do an MRI soon, make sure no true damage, then he needs to get after it with PT hard.
  6. Congrats to Fred on win 16, tying his 2nd best season here.
  7. I’ve been sending some ridiculously negative texts to buddies and it’s not working. Might have to fire off an email to the coaches on how stupid their defense is mid game.
  8. I fell asleep after their 9th three, so I have no idea. Once again going towards my theory of just needing to stay away and be negative.
  9. Brice and Juwan constantly leaving their feet to challenge 3's that haven't happened yet leads me to believe they're taught to do it. Just puts us in an unnecessary scramble.
  10. BB? Berke and Rollie doing something or anything is the key to us moving forward. As long as, of course, you get what you need to get from Juwan and Brice.
  11. We could accomplish everything we want in our defense without doing half the crap we do. We do not need to pre-trap the baseline for every player and we do not need to pre-run people off. It’s absolutely ridiculous we keep doing this. That could have been a disaster last night.
  12. Unbelievable and completely predictable at the same time
  13. It's becoming apparent to me that for this team to win: 1. Brice and Juwan don't have to be "great," but they do have to fulfill their roles and expectations. And Juwan specifically, needs to not be something he's not. 2. Rollie has to hit a shot or two and be more of an offensive threat. Everything else kinda can fall into place if those things happen. You can get different things from different guys night to night if those two things are working. Sometimes it's a Morgan post game, sometimes it's an Essegian 3pt fest. Or sometimes it's just an overall incredible team defensive effort. Whatever it may be, Brice and Juwan have to do their thing, and Rollie needs to be a point guard that can actually be a threat.
  14. Should be 17-5 but here we are fighting to be on the last four in. (This is gonna be exhausting to keep up)
  15. Can’t wait to watch Oregon set some sort of NCAA record from 3pt tomorrow!
  16. All, Once again I am deciding to fall on the sword for Husker basketball. A couple years ago I noticed that if I picked a husker loss in the HHCC Competition, they won. If I tried to actually nail the score and thought we'd win, they'd lose. Due to my clear control and impact over the program, I had to make the choice to continue to pick them to lose at the cost of my HHCC ranking. I assume many remember. This lead to the nice run towards the end of the '23 season and then obviously the tourney birth in '24. For those of you who were paying attention, I actually started the year HOT in HHCC, and was still ranked pretty high through some of our losing streak. Well, we are in a dire situation, once again. I have noticed that if I don't participate in the HHCC Competition, and I continue making negative and dark remarks, suggesting Fred get fired, we play better. The more I text my buddies that "I'm out on this staff," the better we play. Therefore I have choose, once again, to tank my HHCC season, and include my reputation on the board, for the good of the team. From here until the end of the season you will see nothing but negativity from me regarding the team and the staff. I've even considered writing up a "Fire Fred" email to AD Dannen. It is my cross to bare, for the sake of the program. But I do it with great purpose and profound care for the program. So - as you guys continue to watch this loser, dead-beat program, with it's JV staff - I hope you know the sacrifice I am making. Your thanks and appreciation are assumed, no need to shower me with praise. Thank you all. And you're welcome.
  17. Leave Fred in Wisconsin. Make the call to Ben McCollum and back the truck up for NIL.
  18. If you guys don’t see why doubling average post players is stupid in 2025….. I just don’t know.
  19. I don’t know…. If I have ever…. Seen a softer basketball player than Brice Williams.
  20. Current win shares Brice: .190 Essegian: .147 Morgan: .146 Gary: .131 Berke: .131 Sam: .119 Rollie: .114 Meah: .108 Ulis: .058
  21. He’s shooting 41% from 3. You can’t keep him off the court. It’s malpractice. Hide him defensively. Don’t start him in the bottom middle of the 2-3 match up so that he is in the position to get buried at the bottom.
  22. I am kinda done with this season because I am so disappointed in the product we are putting on the floor, the coaching, the lack of true support from 1890, etc... But call me crazy, I would start: 1. Bryce 2. Sam 3. Essegian 4. Juwan 5. Berke/Morgan (whoever is playing better) Defense decides if you win games, offense decides by how much. What players you play in your normal rotation at P5, Division 1 basketball, shouldn't have a "massive" impact on your defense - that is - if you have an actual program and a recruiting philosophy.
