Veerbeek and Mershon, 12 minutes each. What's up with that? No wonder we are scratching our heads, over the substitution pattern this game. Nicea had a little foul trouble, could explain her only playing 20 minutes. We gave up 82 points. Our better defenders watched most of the game. Color me confused.

Agree on substitution patterns yesterday. Had me scratching my head. Indiana looked like the better prepared team. They played with energy, and handled anything we threw at them. We didn't have the answers. Might have been out coached in this one, (preparation and game day).
-
The team wearing red looks ready to play today. Unfortunately, we're wearing white. Still time to turn it around.
-
Actually looks like 40% for 3's. I agree, Wisky ending would have been different had Veerbeek been given a fair shake. Also agree on Refs. Been awhile since I didn't get upset with them during a game. Not sure if it was them doing a good job, or Nebraska kicking butt. Either way, enjoyable game to watch.

That was fun. Game was as good as done, but loved the late "pass interception" by Nicea. She covers some ground. She and Mershon really mesh well on perimeter defense. As mentioned above, terrific team victory. (including coaches)

Might have been Hannah's best half of the year. Good effort by all.
-
I'm not disappointed in the effort. It's a long season, especially for the freshmen. They could be hitting the proverbial wall. Just need to power through. Would be much easier to do, if they'd put a couple in the win column. Not probable, but possible tonight. Good Luck Huskers.

Just checked out the replay on BTN2GO. Mershon seemed in best position allowed. She was a few feet off the inbound player, but close to the line and shading her to the direction of the pass. Just one of those things that luck, and a home town clock manager make happen on rare occasion. In hindsight, maybe we should have left the inbound player unguarded.
-
Wasn't Mershon on the inbounds player at the end?
-
Also a bit confused on substitutions. Took Kissinger out after she had scored 8 points straight. Luckily, Hannah hit a hot spell next. Also thought Grace had earned some playing time after last game. With Veerbeek in foul trouble, and eventually fouling out, why not give her some minutes? Not Coach Williams best game, in my less than informed opinion. Next up, Purdue. Go get 'em girls.
-
I don't think Coach Williams is in the cross hairs. At least, hope not. Moos seems to be the current media target. Expectations are part of the AD job. The sense of urgency, might be greater than he anticipated. Husker fans are hungry.

Day after thoughts... I still feel like whining. I'll limit it to one wah! Sure looked like the officials had an advance bias towards Veerbeek. The kid didn't even get a chance to play. Aluminum foil hat comment ...... Anti Nebraska BIG conspiracy? ?

Think it best if I sleep on it first.

Wasted a terrific game by Nicea.
-
Simon is having a nice game. Hannah and Taylor are finding the range. Nicea is being Nicea. So far, so good.

My initial reaction, was to give you a thumbs down. But, I'll hold off for now. There might be bits of truth, in your post. I don't feel, shooting is one of them. Any team can have an off shooting night. On the season, we've shot the 3 well. Scoring has been adequate. Now, defense has left room to be desired. D has been stressed since the team reported for practice. It might be an area where our youth is showing. Cincore is gone. She was our defensive heart last year. Nicea has picked it up, and Mershon is getting the hang of it. Defense is as much "want to" as natural ability. We are in the process of identifying and developing those players. Subtle changes in starting line-up and minutes of play, reflect this process. There has been concern expressed, in this forum, some returning players aren't playing up to expectations. I can't totally disagree. Perhaps, the quality of our opposition has something to do with it. Maybe, there are aches and pains we know nothing about. Maybe, the strength and conditioning department could be more effective? I don't think it is the coaching. Coach Williams sees what is going on. Hearing her talk about an inbound pass being "soft and nonchalant", was reassuring to me. Has the coaching been perfect? No. Coach admits as much. This conference, and the non-conference schedule, is full of quality teams. Flaws, like inexperience and athleticism, get exposed in a hurry. Hopefully, progress is being made. Regardless of the number of losses, I'm enjoying watching this team develop. GBR

I think I have answered my own question. Unless only one player played at a time, Individual +/- isn't going to equal team total. DOH!
-
Grace only played 7+ minutes, but really shined. Happy for her. On another topic, how does the +/- stat line work? The individual stats don't seem to equal the team total. What am I missing?
-
We did out score them 25 - 11 in the 4th.
-
I agree. I wish we did more driving and dishing. We usually, take it to the hoop, for the shot (with limited success). Kate, is one of many, that would benefit. Maddie has always shot well from the lane. Brown is deadly mid range. Can't think of a player that isn't effective from free throw line in. Now, setting up those shots? That's why coach makes the big bucks.
-
Hannah had a solid game. Everyone seemed to look for her, when Illinois started putting on the full court pressure. She handled it well.
-
We've played so well in previous 4th quarters, why am I still nervous?
-
Started for Maddie.

I'm relatively new to this site. What I have noticed, it is kinder, and more supportive of their team, than most forums. Might not be for everyone, but I like the "drool".
