  1. I hope
  2. How do we know who won that one? (I thought no scores were to be given.) I wouldn't base anything on an exhibition game. Should be a fun year for you guys. Nothing better than watching young talent develop and grow into a team. Better get to the Clink early the day of NU-CU to get those standing room only tickets. Serious question:does NU sell any standing room for their games? It is fun watching monkeys flinging poo. I remember Casey the Ape used to fling it at zoo visitors.
  3. We might need your help through the year on how to handle rude awakenings. Maybe not, though. Let the games begin!
  4. Vegas odds for national championship, conference winners, POY http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24199108/vegas-kentucky-favorite-to-win-title-wiggins-leading-for-poy
  5. I liked the Eagles when Randy Meisner was still in the band.
  6. Who's that; Larry the cable guy?? Good luck tonight and enjoy the opening of the new arena.
  7. Cool story. Thanks for noticing. I saw where the Iowa players were frustrated with the calls in their exhibition game last night. Wasn't Delaney one who was pushing for the change?
  8. The refs called a foul just about every time someone used their hands to guard last night at the Jays game. The Jays did a great job of not using their hands and playing team defense. But, it got me thinking (believe it or not); it seems that if a player is a great driver and is good at getting to the hoop, that there may be very little that someone can do to stop them. (Of course the Jays had trouble with this when they could use their hands, so they might be OK.) What are some others thoughts on this? (It might be easier to think about after your exhibition game.)
  9. Hope Grant Gibbs sees this.... Luckily there is no hand-checikng this year.
  10. +100 Let basketball begin. Sold out arenas in both Omaha and Lincoln. We're not just a football state anymore.
  11. Could happen again this year. After all, that's why they play the games.
  12. That's what people on sport's boards do. Most "too involved" fans for any team will say whatever to make their team look great and to make other teams look "less than great." Plus they only really know about their team or the other local team that the local press will cover. In other words, to answer your question, "Who knows!?"
  13. I wouldn't worry about it. You guys are just as much experts as they are.
  14. I don't think I said that he was the best point guard in the nation. (Although most mid-major leagues, like the Valley, are heavy with good guards.) I also said that he "could" start for any team. And Cousin, you are right, there are some teams (the elite) that he might not start for. (But he might. Imagine what type of a point guard he could be if he had the other four Kentucky starters on the floor with him.) Royalfan, you are right, some good teams will be coming to Omaha this year. Should be a great time. Single game tickets go on sale tomorrow.
  15. Nice article on what it's like in mid-major basketball. Coach Lansing is from Harlan, iowa and Jake Odom, IN MY OPINION, could start for any team in the nation. http://www.sbnation.com/longform/2013/1 ... inderellas
  16. Did Miles really say that!?
  17. After all, you are the only show in the state.
  18. I know the feeling.
  19. Don't worry, Norm. Most people do not believe Bluejay Bilas. By the way, CU does have one foreign player, "The Canadian Bull."
  20. Thanks for the intelligent discussion. I was hoping to hear your thoughts. Just because I said that I would miss a round robin format does not mean that it is the best. My, must we be so touchy. Do you only play Iowa once this year? Playing each team home and away is easily the best methodology for any league in scheduling. "Touchy" is not the emotion I would use to describe my reference of your post in my wish that we would have Iowa on our schedule twice. What is the best way to set up a non-round robin schedule? THAT, it's a question worth answering. I liked the way the Big 12 scheduled and split more than the B1G does it now though maybe that's the price of a 14 team conference vs a 12 team. Thanks. I probably should not have used "touchy." Are NU and Iowa not in the same division in basketball? If they are, why do they not play twice? I'm not slamming the Big 10 but this is why I do not like the mega-conferences. But, remember that is MY opinion and I'm not trying to push it on someone else. I do hope that the Big East keeps it at 10 teams, no matter how good or mediocre (time will tell) that it may be.

  22. Whatever Creighton is like in 2 years, I will still be there, as will many others. (Just like Nebraska fans have stuck with their basketball team.)I've had season tickets since 1981. However, I still would like to know how people feel about a true round-robin format of scheduling compared to what some of the bigger conferences do? I am just so use to playing every team in your conference home and away that I would really miss it.
  23. I believe royalfan brought up Creighton beating Wisconsin. I said that I would rather watch a "soft" Creighton team play their brand of ball than a "tough" Wisconsin team play. But, thanks for reminding me that Creighton did beat Wisconsin handily last year. Creighton fans are looking forward to this year, as they do every year, and we are also unsure about what the future holds. I doubt if we will ever get another Doug McDermott. But, then again, how many schools have ever had a three time all-american? I'm not sure, have the Huskers? I'm guessing that Big East basketball this year, for a comparison, will be like Big 10 football. However, I am looking forward to a league where basketball is number one at all the schools and where a true round-robin schedule is played. I think many CU fans expect the Jays to probably go through a bad stretch, as they do most years. But, we are now possibly in a league where three, four or five teams make the dance. So yeah, it was alarming when you lost in the Valley because it cost dearly, not only in terms of possibly winning a one to two-bid league, but later on in tournament seeding also.
  24. So does Vegas predict the Jays to continue their horrendous downhill slide and was there no positives in winning both the Valley regular season and tournament titles (beating a final four team twice in that final stretch)? Just curious, where does Nebraska fall in the toughness/softness continuum? Also, is it an advantage or disadvantage to play in a league with a true round-robin scheduling format because Creighton will face that in the Big East, also. I, personally, really enjoy the fact that you play everybody in your league twice. What do you think?
