Tip-off between the Huskers (2-0) and the Lumberjacks (0-2) is set for 7:05 p.m. Nebraska heads into the game with Northern Arizona after a pair of convincing wins against traditionally solid programs. The Huskers opened with a 68-50 victory over a North Carolina A&T squad that returned five starters from a team that won 15 games a year ago. Although North Carolina A&T slipped up and lost to Nebraska/Omaha 55-44 last Monday. NU followed up the 18-point win with a 25-point victory over Temple. Northern Arizona comes to Lincoln with an 0-2 record after a narrow 71-68 loss to Cal State Bakersfield last Monday. The Lumberjacks return three starters and nine letterwinners from a team that pushed the Huskers to the limit last season. With injuries to three key returning players, senior guard Amy Patton has stepped up in a big way. Patton erupted for 33 points in the loss at New Mexico. She followed with 29 points, six rebounds and six steals in the loss to CS Bakersfield. Northern Arizona is averging 62.5 points per game, while Patton has accounted for nearly half of them. While most of the names on Northern Arizona's roster are the same as a year ago, the Lumberjacks are under the new leadership of head coach Sue Darling. The 1983 Arizona grad is in her fourth season overall as a head coach. Nebraska leads the all-time series with Northern Arizona 2-0. Row6Seat10 Posted November 17, 2012 Author Report Posted November 17, 2012 Huskers win it 77 - 55. Jordan Hooper throws down 27 points hitting 5 of 8 three pointers and grabs 7 rebounds. Lindsey Moore just misses out on a double double with 10 points and 9 assists. Emily Cady has 13 points and grabs 7 boards. Freshman Sadie Murren made 3 three pointers for 9 points. Rachel Theriot is really starting to look good as she gets more comfortable. She made some dandy passes but she missed out on 3 to 4 assists because the recipients couldn't finish. I'm beginning to think we got a gem here, but we got to get players around her that can finish around the bucket. She needs work on her defense though. All in all we're looking pretty good. It's South Dakota State Sunday. And most likely it'll be a really tough one. This would be a great confidence booster should we escape Brookings with a win. Quote
longtimefan Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Sadie Murren is going to be a real asset for this team if she can continue hitting the 3's. I admit I didn't really know much about her nor did I expect her to come in and play this well. She's going to really help out when they zone us. I would like to see Theriot shoot when she has the shot and not always think she has to make a pass. Moore makes a lot of great passes but knows to shoot when she's wide open. Theriot should learn from her. Quote

Theriot reminds me alot of Moore when Moore was a freshmen in that she was looking to pass first and shoot second . By season's end Moore was shooting more. Quote
