Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka; Color: Matt Davison Kent Pavelka Tailgate Pump up MixMichigan Info Head Coach: John Beilein Location: Ann Arbor, MI Conference: B1G 10 Nickname: Wolverines Mascots: None Last time out: Lost to Indiana Typical Rotation Depth: 8 players Line: Probably Mich by 13 Offense: Love the 3 Tempo: Slow Fun Fact: Michigan forward Glenn Robinson III is the son of former first round draft pick and Purdue forward Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson Jr. Fun Fact: The student section for Michigan has taken to wearing "Jorts" when the Huskers come to town. Fun Fact: Walter Pitchford is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Possible Starters Huskers 0 Tai Webster 6-4 194 Fr 15 Ray Gallegos 6-2 182 Sr 5 Terran Petteway 6-6 209 Jr 31 Shavon Shields 6-7 219 So 35 Walter Pitchford 6-10 234 So Wolverines 10 Derrick Walton 6-1 185 Fr 11 Nik Stauskas 6-6 205 So 23 Caris LeVert 6-6 200 So 1 Glenn Robinson 6-6 220 So 52 Jordan Morgan 6-8 250 Sr Last time vs the Huskers Michigan came into town with questions about how they would respond this season after losing Mitch McGary. After a last second win vs. the Huskers they've gone 5-1 and seem like they have a good shot to lock down a first round bye in the conference tourney if not the regular season title. Michigan shot lights out in that game including a half time buzzer beater in handing the Huskers their only home loss of the season so far. All the starters scored in double digits, led by Glenn Robinson's 19 points on 9-12 shooting. The Skinny Michigan comes off their first conference loss of the season where Indiana slowed things down and the Wolverines had an off shooting night. The Huskers don't need to grind things to a halt like Indiana, but figuring out a way to keep the Wolverines under 70 points is a key to winning this game. Do the Huskers have anyone who can slow down Robinson or keep Stauskas in check? Michigan will probably stay with their plan of daring the Huskers to beat them from 3. Gallegos tied a season high with 10 3pt attempts vs Michigan and probably will take a few tonight. The Wolverines don't block many shots nor rack up a ton of fouls so Petteway and Webster don't need to worry about their shot when they can penetrate into the lane. You'd love to see Shields get going this game but it's not a great matchup for him. Last time out the Wolverines held him to 4 points. The Huskers have proven that they're good enough to hang with Michigan...are they good enough to hang with them on the road? tcp Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 nice write up. change terran's class designation to sophomore to reflect his eligibility? I have a feeling we're tighter in this game than the line. I don't like to question Vegas often, but this time I do. i'm hoping for a good game. and I think we get one. Quote
hhcmatt Posted February 5, 2014 Author Report Posted February 5, 2014 nice write up. change terran's class designation to sophomore to reflect his eligibility? I typically copy the starting lineups from one game to a next since they don't change. KenPom originally had Petteway as a Jr and I keep missing that when I copy from older games. Quote
brfrad Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 We win these 2 games this week, we can start thinking about scenarios for an NCAA trip. Need to win 1 of 2 to start thinking about the NIT. No wins will make it tough to get an NIT bid. Quote
PimpMario Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 Maybe that is why I thought terran was a jr. Quote
