  1. Greatest Husker baseball player of all time - Erstad and Gordon were clearly more accomplished, but Husker baseball isn't what it is today without Komine.
  2. Heard that the initial plans for the B1G are to follow the same scholarship rules that the SEC uses in 2025-26 - the SEC is leaning toward 25 scholarships to distribute among the 34 players. I doubt every B1G team would fund 25 scholarships, but I'm pretty confident that NU will. Hopefully the B1G follows thru on this plan - having a new B1G commissioner who understands baseball is a huge boost versus having someone like Kevin Warren in charge.
  3. The 4 times we've been this big of a favorite in a B1G game under Hoiberg, we've covered. Since we joined the B1G we've covered 12 of 14 times when favored by at least 8.5 - many of these games pre-date Fred, of course. And almost half of the 14 B1G games where we've been this big of a favorite came against dear ol' RU.
  4. I'm not sure which player he's talking about - all 5 Hoosiers look like they have no interest in being on the floor right now. These are the kinds of outcomes that will get a certain coach fired. Not cool, Illinois, not cool.
  5. https://d1baseball.com/stories/2025-d1baseball-preseason-top-25-rankings/ Nice! Oregon is the only other B1G team on the list at #12. We'll get tested out of conference - LSU is #3, Oregon St is #7, Vandy is #16. I'm a little surprised Irvine didn't make it.
  6. If you want to feel a little better about where we're at, the 3 teams we've lost to are 13-3 in the B1G so far (10-3 outside of beating NU); and the two teams we've beaten are 6-5 (6-3 outside of losing to NU). Gotta put this one behind us fast and take care of business Thursday against an RU team that's probably going to be on the bubble to make the B1G tourney. Absolutely can't lose that one.
  7. I'm not sure any team in the country could've won that game today with as well as PU played and as motivated as they were. That said, a veteran team has to have more pride than that. Hope we show it Thursday vs RU.
  8. 6 of our last 8 have been under - it'd be 7 of 8 if the Iowa game didn't go into OT
  9. And Christo probably won't even be in our weekend rotation - it'll be nice to have an arm like his out of the bullpen whenever needed.
  10. USC dominates Illinois in Champaign in a game that's was a 9 a.m. start for them Pacific time - crazy
  11. Five weeks from opening day - glad we hung on to Sanderson & didn't lose him in the transfer portal - I expect we'll see a bit of a power surge from him this season vs last year.
  12. I guess we got the best officials Peacock could afford. I knew we were in trouble when Kent & Jake had no idea before the game who two of the guys were. Still, we could've & should've taken it out of the officials' hands. Really sucks to score a buzzer beater and still lose the game - those don't come around too often.
  13. Guessing most of them are at home ironing their singlets to prep for the the next home rasslin' match.
  14. Vegas doesn't like us on the road
  15. Instacart+ subscribers get a free Peacock account - https://www.instacart.com/instacart-plus You can try Instacart+ for a 2-week free trial without having to put in a credit card - just need an email address - at least you could in the fall, and the free trial includes Peacock. Hope it still works that way - if you did it in the fall for football, you'd need a different email address though.
  16. Well, to be fair, their fanbase is full of entitled, pretentious douches, so that tracks. Random thought: Do UCLA fans wear sweater vests? 2nd random thought: I'm confident that NU is the first team in history to win back-to-back(-ish) conference games against teams with at least 16 combined nat'l championships.
  17. In case the cold and snow have you feeling down... Baseball season starts Monday (sort of)! NU starts preseason workouts tomorrow - only 40 days to the opener
  18. Even though Essegian didn't make a shot, his presence opened up the driving lanes. We couldn't get anything going when Meah was in there - the lane was too clogged. Not his fault - this just wasn't a game where his skills fit well. Once Essegian was on the floor, though, it all opened up. Quick back-of-the-napkin math, but I think we only scored 15 points in the 15 minutes Meah was on the floor. Again, not a criticism of his abilities, but just not a game that fit his skills well. Essegian being on the floor changed how we could attack them significantly.
  19. We are 16-1 in our last 17 conference home games -- in the 42 games before that, we were 10-32 at home in B1G games. We won our 12th straight B1G home game at PBA Saturday, which is a new arena record. Won 11 B1G games in a row in 2017-18 and 2018-19 and won 8 in a row in 2013-14.
