  1. We do not want Donovan at NU. He has the athletic skills but is not a team player and has became very uncoachable this year. For those that watched his last several games, North Star played much better as team without him. He could care less what was happening at time outs and basically played 1 on 5 for himself.
  2. Watched last six coaches starting in the old coliseum with Cipriano. Coach Iba with his team at Mabel Lee was priceless! Handing in his resignation letter he had already written before the game after losing to Western Kentucky was pretty good too!
  3. Ugly. Disappointing. Difficult to understand.
  4. Yes exactly. No disrespect for Cipriano. And I meant to say that I've watched last six basketball coaches. in any case, for those of us that have followed Nebrasketball since the 70s, I just think today was coach Miles day that will be a turning point that the AD can't ignore and boosters and alumni like myself will expect to be addressed.
  5. Coach Cipriano was a fun guy to watch and I always enjoyed watching his team. I always used to like it when we had swung the momentum of games and had a huge run only for Nebraska to call a time out and stop the momentum. He had passion and again I personally have positive memories of Coach Cipriano. i have no idea why you are personally attacking me, but my post has nothing to do with coach Cipriano's unfortunate passing. Thanks!
  6. I've watched the last six basketball coaches at Nebraska and in the end of their tenures there was always a "last straw" moment when things just weren't working and it became obvious that we were going to need a change. Today was that day for Tim Miles. He has punched his ticket out of here. Lack of teamwork, inconsistent defense and lack of any offensive execution. i can look past many things. There will be those that will say we are young, that we just need another year or two. It is time for the AD to do his job. Smoke and mirrors from Miles are over. This is gonna get ugly in the B1G. Gardber-Webb? Now we're losing to schools with hyphens? We have a $100M athletic department budget and top 20 facilities with great fan support. This needs to end. Coach Miles has either lost this team or he just can't coach them in his system. But these are the players he recruited for his system. No excuses at all for this. The ticket for coach Miles was punched today. We need to move the program forward, and the start of moving forward will be to send coach Miles back to a mid-major program where he belongs.
  7. Glynn Watson = Rajon Rondo Best husker guard since Lue.
  8. We will see about Miles in the next couple of years. I hope we get over the top and he can get these players to gel and play team ball. That's what happened for 8 weeks a couple years ago. We had enough talent then to finish fourth in the B1G. We have more talent now. Coach Miles just needs to get them to commit to a system and play together. Our defense has slid and our offense has decayed into individual player isolation plays to score. We have to stop talking about the B1G likes its some unstoppable force. It helps us recruit, it helps us with reputation, and it helps pay the bills. We don't have to win the B1G, just be competitive and we can get into the tourney. We can win plenty of games in the B1G as long as we have players committed to our system. We have enough talent to be in the tourney and yes win. Its up to coach Miles and his staff now. I'm happy to wait two more years to get a stable program that's in the tourney most years. Of course, if we don't see this, I'm pretty sure the current AD already has some replacements in mind and unfortunately we will have to start again!
  9. Its too bad our staff is asleep at the wheel with Teddy. He is the best player in the state and we are treating him like he's a mid major project player. He will play for a power 5 school (just not us) and we are gonna watch it happen. We have missed on so many guards in the last couple of years and here is a player that we can use. I just don't understand what Miles is doing with recruiting sometimes. He has had plenty of time to see this guy play and to build the relationship to recruit him.
  10. Anyone know how Oregon roster looks? Do they need a guy with White size?
  11. Some great comments about the big man search! We have a lot of young players so it is to be expected we need to develop chemistry. Maybe some of that is impacting Hammond. I too do not understand why he isn't getting more minutes out there. We are struggling on both ends of the court. Our offense hasn't been the same since the 2014 NCAA run. Our defense hasn't been either. Its obvious. But underscoring all the current problems on the court today is the fact we just don't match up well in our conference without any size in the middle. We are going to get slaughtered against big physical schools in the B1G. I think this team will end of losing 10 league games this year because of this. Coach Miles is not landing bigs (>6-8'). I love his approach with wings, athletic players to spread the floor. But we should have landed a couple services bigs by now. The losing will continue with the current approach. Need to land a big guy. Just look at the rosters of our own conference and you see all kinds of tall guys on their rosters. Iowa has even made progress. We have fallen behind and we are not getting the recruiting out of this coaching staff that is expected.
  12. Well this is frustrating. To comments earlier, we all know how much time coach Miles and staff have spent to land a post player. I have never questioned that. Coaches get paid for results. 0-3 to start B1G is not what we are paying coach Miles to do. I don't accept that we played hard so it's ok if we lose. I don't accept the fact we haven't landed a center. Great facilities and fan support and B1G conference. By now we should have have landed a center. We shouldn't be losing 10-12 games in the B1G this year, but we are on pace to do so. IMPO this recruiting shortfall is a sign of more to come. We are better, but not good enough.
  13. This will be a tough recruit to land, he as enough other options with his talent. But its time for coach Miles to step up to the plate for a legit big man. Here is his chance. A transfer that would normally have 15-20 offers has one week to decide. We cannot play small ball in the B1G. We have no center. No excuses, no more waiting until next time. Its time for coach Miles to show he is serious about being a successful power five head coach.
  14. Great day for Husker Hoops! To me this sends some great messages to other potential recruits out there. Yes we are a destination for top 50 talent. Yes we are a program on the rise. Yes we have great facilities and a great coach. Thank you Tom Osborne for the great hire!
  15. Well I guess this answers some questions about how well we are going to recruit the 2015 class. Hard to get too excited about this. I thought we left the Collier, Sadler recruiting world behind? No way he is a starting Big Ten player for the upper division. He is committed to Iowa/Iowa St right now if he were good enough. I don't get this at all unless we think were gonna whiff on some other "guys we're in on". AJW3, Morrow, et al seem like entertaining stories until they sign somewhere else.
  16. UNLV We are not over the hump in recruiting. Hard to compete against programs that don't really care about the kids, will tell them what they want to hear, and view scholarships as one year contracts. Not saying we can't get there, just saying we have a long ways to go before we land top 150 recruits here, especially athletic 6-8 to 6-10 guys, which Jordan is not
  17. Always good to get a positive mention. It seems like Larry Brown and SMU are separating from this group, with top 25 rating last year. Agree with the comments on talent. The article is not accurate on B1G. Michigan, OSU and Mich st may have lost some talent, but have plenty left on the roster or coming in.
  18. A lot of great comments on this topic. Miles is building a great program. I think a lot of people, including myself are pulling for the guy as much as the program. We just need to get over the hump with recruiting. We are doing great things with our current talent, and have scored some nice pickups with the talent brought in over the last two years. Once we start seeing athletic 6-8 to 6-10 guys showing up on campus, I will be convinced its all good and maybe "something ain't right" is behind us. Looking forward to the next two or three years!
  19. Coach agree on the recruiting point. Don't expect top 50 players, but I remember the talent that Danny Nee brought in. True we had a rare run of in-state talent that helped, but he brought in some tremendous athletes. I would like to see coach Miles get a couple of great athletes with size that he can either coach up or that haven't been brought in by the traditional basketball powerhouses. On Morrow, I guess we will see. I am not sure about his game away from the basket. I have not seen him play in person, so I will not claim to be an expert.
  20. Nebrasketballer brings up some great points. But some of these facts are exactly why I am concerned. I am a huge Miles fan. The guy is awesome. Great ambassador for the program. Looks to be a strong xs and os guy (except for road PSU game). And has done wonders creating a winning culture that is developing players. But we have a B1G coach of the year, and one COY award, yet still not able to bring blue chip recruits in. Coach Miles is doing his part in many ways. Our program is still not over the hump with recruiting and talent despite all these things. I am not overly excited about Morrow, based on the film I have seen. Not sure how well rounded his game is. Its great watching his athleticism around the rim. But that it will be different against B1G talent.
  21. Great recruiters usually show it right away. Look at Iowa State recently. What does Ames have that is not better in Lincoln. The town, the university, facilities, fans? How does the talent show up at places like New Mexico, Wichita State, or dare I saw Creighton? Miles looks to be a great floor coach, good at developing talent, and many other things. But we are a long ways from getting the kind of talent here that wins conference championships or sweet 16s.
  22. I have been a Nebraska basketball fan for a long time and suffered through the ups and downs. It has been an exciting run with coach Miles here, and it is already approaching the excitement of the Danny Née era. I am hopeful we finally got the coach that can get us over the hump and win a tourney game, maybe even a couple of wins some year. But, if we are gonna get there, we have "GATA" break thru on the recruiting front. Something just ain't right. Lots of angst losing Deng, and several others in the last 6 months that look to be good talent. Tough to watch the little in state talent leave the state. To me, we have a long ways to go with talent and recruiting. Miles has done wonders with what we have. But there is something missing. Something just ain't right.
