WOW! What a game! hats off to jasmine cincore! really did a nice job on Powers. clark, too! gonna be some sore huskers come monday morning, but, won't feel as bad now. holy cow, hines is a beast of a woman----sparty probably coulda used her at linebacker or, maybe dt earlier this fall. and, my gosh, rachel blackburn. she made a couple of huge plays there late in the game! had to chuckle a bit when she got tangled up with hines-----she kinda threw burns down like a rag doll! and that can't be easy! what else can one say about nat and jess. geez. i'm amazed how nat gets those shots up around the basket. that one drive she had in the second half when she was alone with either hines or allen, can't remember, i started thinking right away "pull it out!" but she got the shot off even though she missed it. i thought she was gonna be force fed a basketball. and love to see those crowds---the wifi cut out when matt was giving the attendance, so, will have to check that out. just a great team win! Happy Valentines Day everyone!!! oh, and speaking of Powers-----how she didn't get "T'd up" is amazing to me. refs should have never let that go---and you can't show off to the crowd like that. love her game, but, she has lost a lot of my respect. i've noticed in other games she can really act up if things don't go her way. getting to be a bit of a bad habit with her.

that's what i am hoping. watched some of the penn st-msu game. msu just didn't seem to have much "energy" for that one. maybe they thought they could just show up on their home court and wouldn't be a problem. msu had a few chances to pull away, but, couldn't do it. you know the saying, "when you let a team like that hang around".... hope the huskers don't let powers go off like she did last year-----even though, somehow, the huskers pulled that one out @msu. maybe put maddie on her? i would like to see her minutes increased. expecting a hard fought game. i'd be really surprised if huskers don't come out and compete. i suspect whoever wins, won't be by much. players really could use a shot of confidence.

updated a couple days ago, taking a look at charlie creme's bracketology and seeding: iowa (12), indiana (10), purdue (7), msu (4), maryland (2), osu (2) iowa listed as one of the last 4 in and rutgers listed as first 4 out. still no love for minny. wonder how many they would have to win against msu, osu, and maryland? i really find it hard to believe iowa (who just chalked up another loss---to osu) and indiana are gonna make it (2 games huskers should have won, imo)

figured it would be a tough game, but, never thought the huskers would get embarrassed like they did. been there----very frustrating when just about everything the opponent throws up seems to go in. this is just minnesotas year. never ever thought their offense would be this good. it appears there is osu, maryland, msu, and minny-------the rest of the big ten is a garbled mess. beginning to think 5 could be the most they will get in the ncaa's. mentioned this before, but, really starting to wonder if the BT WILL only get 4 in.

Clark's scoring probably won't happen. What you see is what you are going to get from her. I still say put the ball in her hands at the 1 spot then you will see it increase. know what bugs, you are could very well be right. would have to look a little deeper, but, it may be the huskers would have to win out for any chance at ncaa's. so------do you think coach would put clark at 1 and move rachel? i really don't see it happening, though. the way things are, why not give it a shot, imo.
-
i thought allie, being 6'5", would really have a chance to do more around the basket. hard to tell, but, sure seemed like jess was getting bumped around on a number of shots underneath. i was really hoping jess and allie could get them in serious foul trouble.

i noticed a pic of burns out on the floor during shoot around. appeared to be wearing normal shoot around attire! maybe some good news ahead! GBR!

watched the illinois-minny game and she was keeping illinois right in the game with some nice three's. it also happened in another illinois game that was on BTN---think that was at illinois and she was draining some three's in that one too. she missed a layup or two and i was thinking, heck, why drive the ball, just shoot the three!!! she does have a nice shot. if there were/are any coaches on the hot seat, i would think it would be bollant and kelsey from wisconsin. there was a bit of discussion whether kelsey would survive last year. not sure what to think of bollant---i really wasn't sure if he would survive last years mess, but, he hangs in there. he got a good one in whittinger(sp?) and was thinking he has a good one coming in from, maybe missouri? so, maybe things are looking better for him next year. a lot may be decided when they hire a new AD. in wisconsin's case, kelsey definitely has the team playing hard for her, plus, she does have a couple of nice recruits coming in next year, so, maybe she has all that going for her and wisconsin hangs on to kelsey for another season.

Need to get to 21 believe smckewon stated the same thing-21 wins. coatney stated 11BT wins to be safe. sidenote on minny: comments from charlie creme in article from StarTrib ESPN’s Charlie Creme, who projects the women’s NCAA tournament field, is not bullish on the Gophers’ chances. He said via Twitter that the Gophers’ strength of schedule has hurt them, adding no team ever has received an at-large bid with an RPI as low as 87, the Gophers’ ranking on Monday. “Not even close to that low, in fact,” Creme tweeted.

i was mainly pointing out how difficult it is going to be for anybody in the Big Ten to hang with Maryland and, probably OSU for Big Ten Championships------in the near future anyway. if your recruiting top 50 consistently, odds are you're probably getting a pretty good player and gonna be a pretty doggone good squad. i'm greedy to the point i would like to see the 'N' emblem a little more in the top 100! you know, stay ahead of the purdue's, iowa's, msu's, etc. that's just the competitive me! plus, any talk of coach yori being replaced anytime soon is nonsense---------then again, she has been at unl quite awhile now, and, one never knows what the future holds. look at reilly, was and is still is quite a bit of discussion just how long he will be at unl.
-
the injuries.......been thinking about that lately. is it just bad luck? teams have injuries, but, it just doesn't seem like the extent the huskers have been dealing with the past couple years. are the freshman that come in just not physically prepared for the rigors of coach yori's practices? i have no idea-----just asking. could it be the recruits that come in just aren't the type of athlete that the top programs are getting and adjustments must be made? i really don't know. maybe it's just the chance you take. in regards to your last question------maybe you keep an eye on what coach williams is doing at usd? i don't really know if unl is going to be able to attract a "big" name. unless you really open the wallet and i seriously doubt that would happen for women's bb. maybe i am wrong.
-
good post, redsteve. i share your concerns. i hope your last sentence rings true, but, the "numbers" do make one think. the one obvious thing, is maryland and osu's territory---huge advantage there.
-
i understand recruiting services aren't perfect, but, it does appear Maryland and OSU chances of remaining atop the Big Ten for the near future look pretty darn good. i believe OSU is fairly young on the court now? MSU's appears to bring in a pretty decent class. i know it is difficult to say how they will all pan out, but... taken from Hoopgurlz top 100 for 2016: Maryland: Indiana: #7 grade 98 #66 grade 95 #17 grade 98 #25 grade 97 Illinois #28 grade 97 #79 grade 94 #51 grade 96 Nebraska OSU: #80 grade 94 (Cayton) #10 grade 98 #22 grade 97 #31 grade 97 MSU: #37 grade 97 #71 grade 95 #73 grade 94 Northwestern: #68 grade 95 #76 grade 94 Michigan: #70 grade 95 #93 grade 93 Iowa: #82 grade 94 #90 grade 93

that's just the thing about minnesota this year-----you have wagner and banham to worry about, but, they have others that are certainly capable of knocking down three's or driving to the basket. hedstrom, bailey, and mullaney have the ability to go off on any given night. minnesota has a very good shot at finishing 11-7. just might be good enough to keep them in the #4 position in the big ten---as i start looking at the rest of the big ten schedule as a whole, if the rest of the teams "beat up" on each other, i am starting to wonder if the big ten might just get 4 in the ncaa's? i know charlie creme has predicted 5 with one coach from big ten predicting 6.

if clark isn't having much luck, do you try simon? something i would really consider. i imagine cincore would be next in line after clark, but, maybe try simon. maybe her length might slow her down at least a bit. i would expect banham will get around 30, but, if you can limit others to below their average, huskers might have a shot-------might.

rest of schedule: @minny, MSU, @OSU, Purdue, Indiana, and finish off with Northwestern. best chances of getting a win: Indiana MSU and OSU playing better than huskers, and overall, have better talent---odds are pretty good looking at 'L's don't believe huskers can match minny's firepower at the barn 'L' Purdue, those games seem to be a toss up. haven't seen Purdue play lately, so, not sure how they look. Northwestern, i would have to say 60/40 looking at another 'L' (even with their slide, still, they handled huskers pretty good at NW) hate to be negative, but, just looking at it on paper, they have a real uphill climb getting to ncaa's. just don't see enough wins now. most likely looking at NIT bid. while huskers did have a nice little run, their play is just too erratic. even rachel theriot has made "unrachel-like" to's this year. with huskers sitting 7-5 now, could really be staring at a 9-9 finish.
-
Clairol Nice 'n Easy probably really likes this team!!!
-
to be honest, the way things are going, minnesota will have better luck slowing jess than the huskers will in slowing down their guards. i am really concerned thursday could be pretty ugly. just don't know how they can do it at the Barn. too much firepower with those gophers.
-
wow. indiana shoots 32%? huskers need burns.
-
26 turnovers.
-
one thing that has haunted the huskers most of the season. ball security. i would think this will turn the minny game into a must win. btw, minnesota 40 northwestern 46 at half.
-
they are giving jess nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!
