  1. just a HUGE defensive play on Allen by Havers in the final seconds sending Jess to the free throw line!!! ??? another great game from jess (but, those free throws---and add on a few "bunnies" she missed...) nicea, what a defensive specialist. really great game although no offense. whitish! BOOM!
  2. my heart sank when that happened---------that shot reminds us just how cruel sports can be. yes, i am going to overlook some other elements of the game, BUT, right after it happened i was thinking the team and the seniors deserved better than that. i would have accepted your "basic" look at a 3 pointer, but, the way she shot it, angle she shot it, banking it off the glass and huskers right there-----i am not sure she could ever make that again. will have to look for a replay of the shot.
  3. could be right-------had illinois-indiana game on and they were talking about how well northwestern has been playing lately. especially nia coffey. maybe they will be that team you don't want to see in the tourney.
  4. maryland, osu, mich, mich st seems right. maybe noah could comment more on this, but, what the heck happened to northwestern? i really thought they would be battling for that 3rd spot in the big ten this season. being from sd, i think the summit league tourney (for women) is wide open next week. western illinois is probably the favorite going into the tourney, but iupui, sdsu, usd have great chances. maybe another team will get hot and make a run (omaha?)-----who knows. i noticed college women hoops has western illinois and sdsu in. i will stick with my original prediction for 1 team from summit. oh, sorry, it just came back to me about the tragedy suffered at northwestern. i imagine that may have played into why northwestern had a tough season. oh, and forget the "(omaha?)" comment------------they look pathetic against usd today.
  5. Verbeek and Mershon are in the class of 2018
  6. matt coatney during his broadcast stated that this was not unexpected from michigan. coach williams and the huskers prepared for this earlier. wasn't really a shock this squad still had a "clunker" left in them. what was a little surprising is how bad the defensive effort was in that first half, especially first quarter. some of the passing was a head scratcher--------my gosh, riley, what were you seeing? defender glued to one side of jess and the other one practically standing right smack in front of jess and you try to throw it into jess? she didn't try a lob pass, a bounce pass? don't mean to pick on riley, because there were plenty of examples from other players. just one that really stuck out to me. anyway, huskers just dug themselves waaaaaaaay to big a hole right from the start. clawed back to get it to 15 and whitish took a 3---in and out. even if that went in, i didn't see the huskers pulling a rabbit out of the hat, but, maybe they could have made the score a little more respectable. one other thing that i think really made a difference, nicea had maybe one of her worst games. ended up, this was just a season the huskers couldn't afford that to happen. for allie's and esther's sake, hope we don't see that on senior day. going to be tough, though.
  7. but, if this should work out, imo, fans will have a coach that will be a husker for a long, long time!
  8. i am really hoping the best for burns! what a huge shot in the arm it would be for her return to the court for the huskers. doubt fans will know too much till practice resumes next fall. i believe i had mentioned before, i am not really sure what type of procedure she had done, just that i thought it was mentioned it is related to "chronic" knee pain? i can only go by what i have read about it------can be a tough situation for an athlete----------which would make sense. fingers (and everything else) crossed! and, yes, pretty good show tuesday night!
  9. ugh......didn't think of senior night. from michigan's site: http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/022117aab.html
  10. https://www.facebook.com/huskerswbb/videos/1592032187477010/ hope this works
  11. after watching her videos, wouldn't surprise me to see Mershon move up the ladder in prospect nation rankings. 70's? maybe reach the 60's? like redsteve stated, nice tools to work with and if she puts in a good summer, ya never know. maybe fans should give a big shoutout to her uncle who lives near lincoln!!! ? http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/womens-basketball/huskers-get-surprise-commit-from-top--recruit/article_bcd1e56b-1f02-5b56-bc2a-f4774f41e963.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  12. https://youtu.be/qkAVwpJ6KME great to have Kayla Mershon on board! Congrats to her! GBR!
  13. i think it may have been the osu game, when coach williams had to take whitish out for a bit. matt coatney stated coach williams had no intentions of playing esther unless she absolutely had to. i think whitish took a hit to the head and came out for a bit. anyway, evidently the foot isn't that great? what is the deal with washington? shoulder or foot?
  14. geez, never done that! ?
  15. no biggee,
  16. Bugeaters1 asked if the body language looked better on sunday vs the hoosiers. i just thought i would post my answer under the Indiana thread: i thought it has looked better the past two games (osu, indiana). i really thought it started to look much better in the second half of the osu game and appeared to carry over to the indiana game. hopefully, it will continue. it is really going to be tough at michigan----------especially with michigan losing their past two contests. msu really took it to them-----on michigans court. watched parts of that game and michigan didn't seem to play all that bad (though, didn't get to see too much of second half)-------msu was just better sunday. flaherty did seem to struggle though.
  17. great to see those smiles!!!
  18. no doubt------players of the game!!!
  19. “I think she’s an excellent leader with the positivity she’s shown throughout the season,” Wood said. “And she knows the game so well. If I coach some day, I hope I can teach the game as well as she does.” http://www.omaha.com/huskers/womens-basketball/coach-players-and-fans-admire-former-walk-on-emily-wood/article_00bf4f0f-90e6-55c9-8ab8-e92fd0d7e26e.html
  20. Maddie is like a box of chocolates------you never know what your gonna get. ?? on the serious side, she can look so good and you hope she is over the hump---------next thing you know, she can have you shaking your head.
  21. another good read: including talk of Burns... http://www.omaha.com/huskers/womens-basketball/despite-a-lack-of-wins-in-coach-amy-williams-first/article_3b857c22-0b73-53c4-b0e8-31bf24cb7499.html
  22. nice read from Brent Wagner: http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/womens-basketball/dream-school-and-coaching-staff-line-up-for-cascio-jensen/article_23999b36-8426-53d1-8663-dc007faec4ee.html
