yes, and pretty good at driving to basket.

one game of interest, michigan leads minnesota 49-45 about halfway through 3rd quarter.
-
well, gotta go with the hot hands ?
-
out rebounded msu by 15!?! didn't see that coming! didn't hear woody's name? did she get in?
-
barring a collapse..........don't know how you keep this team out. while indiana has been playing well, this road game made me more nervous. thought msu would make underneath really tough----on both ends.
-
gotta hit some ft's if they put the huskers to the line!
-
yeah, talking about this game.
-
Cain really seems to have problems finishing.

just seems to me, any benefits of playing in the wnit vs ncaa seem marginal. any division I player wants the chance to play in the "big dance". i don't have any hard facts, but, seems like it can be a challenge for some of these bigger schools to "buy in" come time to play in the wnit. there are exceptions, like michigan last season after getting snubbed by the ncaa committee. plus, use coach williams as an example when she was at usd--------the school made the financial effort and were able to play their games at usd. i remember chatter about whether usd could outbid some of the larger schools and would have to go on the road at some point. it always has been a bit of a question how usd did it. not sure if i am making my point, but, you wonder if when a big school ends up having to go on the road and play at a smaller school (size wise and/or wbb reputation wise) home court----how it might affect some players. now, nebraska would most likely be a school that would make a dedicated effort and bid to have the huskers play at PBA for as long as possible. side note: not sure if i am correct, but, aren't wnit bids placed BEFORE the tourney begins?

yep. with purdue's remaining schedule, i just didn't see them contending for one of the remaining spots regarding the double bye----and, i actually thought the hoosier game would be a 'w' for the boilermakers. after watching that game, i feel a little more confident that the huskers can pull out a 'w' in bloomington. would be so sweet to pull out 2 wins out of the 3 road games left.

i would say Minnesota's Pitts, Nebraska's Cain, and maybe Purdue's McLaughlin lead the way. awards issued (along with individual stats position): Minnesota: Destiny Pitts 6 weekly awards 20th in scoring 13th in rebounding 8th in 3pt % 4th in 3pt'ers made 7th in defensive rebounds Nebraska: Kate Cain 4 weekly awards 16th in rebounding 1st in blocks 10th in defensive rebounds Indiana: Jaelynn Penn 2 weekly awards not mentioned among any individual stats Northwestern: Lindsey Pulliam 1 weekly award 13th in scoring 4th in free throw % 8th in minutes played Purdue: Karissa McLaughlin 1 weekly award 11th in 3pt fg % 13th in assists 13th in 3pt'ers made 14th in assists-to-turnover ratio Michigan: Hailey Brown 1 weekly award not mentioned among any individual stats

i just finished reading another comment on Brown. appears Thome fell and rolled up on her leg. it also stated Brown had a bag of ice on her one ankle on the bench-----------so, appears to be an ankle injury. that is a little better news. hate to have anyone go through that knee crap.
-
michigan has lost 3 of the last 4------next: @ minnesota and home against Maryland. not sure it sounds real good for michigan's Hailey Brown. i would guess she is out for AT LEAST the minnesota game. Barnes-Arico stated Brown would be evaluated in the next couple of days. just a guess, but, if they need to wait, must need some swelling to go down in that knee? (appeared to grab knee---at quick glance). michigan is pulling another 2017 where they lost 4 of their last 5 (only win to nebraska). i would bet michigan is going to end up with a record of losing 5 of their last 6 in the conference. if committee gives them same look as last season, that would mean "dead in the water" as far as ncaa tourney. plus, that would most likely put michigan around 6th in the conference they would probably be in a position where they will need 4 wins in a row to win the BTT and get auto bid. i guess it's like jeff stated during the wisconsin game---rpi is not going to get nebraska in [ncaa tourney], winning will get nebraska in.

if michigan loses brown, it makes a win at minny that much more difficult. while i think michigan can beat minny, it will take one of their better road efforts of the season. having said that, i will not be surprised if michigan drops the next two and that will finish them off for an ncaa bid, if sunday's msu loss didn't already. (unless they win the BTT). as good as flaherty has been, she most likely is not going to see an ncaa tourney game. i ran a number of different scenarios with "mred's53" bracket thingamajig and majority had iowa getting one of the spots in the double bye, with minny also having a good shot. if iowa and minny would tie, i believe it stated iowa gets the bid because of better round robin wins. while not impossible, i just don't see michigan or purdue getting in a position for a spot. so, i just see it coming down to maryland, ohio state, nebraska, iowa, and minny (with maryland and ohio state taking 2). with gustafson playing the way she is, i think iowa has great shot at winning out. i had to chuckle a bit during the msu-michigan game when one of the announcers stated something along the line of gustafson having a "quiet, but, impressive season". quiet?!? seems like she has been getting a lot of mention during games i have watched---no matter who is playing. gustafson is right up there in a couple of national categories.

imo, msu is comparable to the huskers when it comes to contribution. comes from just about everyone--------and, you really don't know who might have the hot hand for a game. huskers will have to find some offense--------i will guess it is going to take at least scoring into the 60's for a shot at a 'w'. wouldn't surprise me at all if the freshman Cooks causes problems for the huskers. didn't standout against michigan, but, i have watched her play some pretty impressive games. mccutcheon will probably give hannah all she can handle. i thought she did a pretty good job against flaherty from michigan, but, flaherty still got 20 (i think 6 were free throws). another game where Cain is going to have to play smart. can't afford to get into foul trouble. think it will be important for huskers to get at least one of these road games against msu/indiana. not going to be easy.
-
looking at the final box score, couple things stuck out: wonder when the last time 2 true freshman lead the scoring in a win? Cain had 14 and Kissinger with 11. Woody only had 1 minute? that is a little surprising. last thing, number of free throws by either team. wiscy 1-3 and 7-9 for huskers.
-
btw, anyone catch hooper's halftime interview with matt? when they started talking about the huskers, hoop stated "there's a couple things i would do different". ???
-
still---------------a little stunned as i went and looked at the standings. let this soak in for a moment.......tied for second with ohio state at 9-3. think i might have mentioned around mid-season. i was really hoping the huskers could approach .500 for the whole season----MAYBE.
-
that's exactly what crossed my mind earlier in the first half--------if things might be catching up to the huskers. especially kissinger and cain. even though kissinger had the injury and was out for a lengthy period, it still is a long season to adjust to. physically and mentally.
-
matt just stated "no fast break points"?!? i thought whitish had one to nicea?
-
thanks HB. i didn't know she had a previous injury, i guess. she gave huskers a few important minutes. minny up 62-28 on psu not quite halfway through 3rd.
-
anyone listening to amy?-----------i missed who tweaked an injury and didn't know if she could return???
-
huskers returned the favor?
-
minny routing psu 55-26 at half.
-
well, then guess i can't yell at huskers.com like i have soooooooooooo many times over the past few years! i tried Husker IMG Network at the beginning of the game and they had husker football game on.
