I really struggle to say that 2015-2016 is going to automatically be miserable. Our schedule lightens up in the Big 10 next year. It's not a done deal that TP is gone, and if he isn't...even with Smith and Pitchford leaving, we are a more talented team than this year. And we still don't know how this class will finish up....with this day and age of the senior transfers....we catch fire with the right guy (i.e. maybe a Johnathan Williams) and things can change real real fast.

Transfers depend on who and why to me at this point.

Welcome back. Hopefully you aren't back just because things have turned a little negative. You are allowed to post when things are rolling as well. I'm not concerned about the way things are headed yet. I'm still pretty hopeful about Miles and Co.

Tarin Smith Announces Decision to Transfer
nustudent replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Id say its different than Nate Hawkins. Hawkins shouldn't have been playing but he thought he should. Tarin should have been playing over Parker -
Im interested to see who we get to replace him. For as bad as he was this year, I struggle to definitively say we are better without him. But I can also see how if we find a guy who can play in the post and knows his role, that we would be much better off. I'm leery of our post situation next year. While I'm not writing Hammond off, it's awefully tough to feel good about him next year. Everyone else is a true frosh who is going to be lacking some size at this point.

Thanks...i haven't been around much for the last 2 years...its nice to be hopeful for good fortunes with the program though.

Syracuse has two players leaving too

Not saying Petteway is staying or leaving...but I don't think this would be in response to him leaving. Have to think its more for Hammond, Fuller or maybe the Aussie doesn't qualify. If it is because Petteway leaves...over half your team is front court guys... 1. Walter 2. Morrow 3. Fuller 4. Jacobson 5. Aussie 6. This guy 7. Hammond That's not a good breakdown..especially when White, Shields, Webster and Parker (4 of your 6 guards) are upperclassmen. If it was TP...would have to think wed be going after guards and wings.

Is there really talk of Miles seat warming? I mean really? After 3 years? And one of the 7 best seasons (in terms of NCAA tournament) in this program's history? After what we dealt with under Collier and Sadler? With one of our best ever (on paper) recruiting classes coming? And set to return the vast majority of the talent that is there this year? Miles biggest issue is that he was too good too fast last year. People have forgotten the total sh!tstorm he inherited.

Here is a theory on this subject: nustudent is no longer a student (probably hasn't been for quite a while), so he no longer posts on this board or on Red Sea Scrolls under that name--but he still posts on both this board and Red Sea Scrolls under different names. Anyone know if this theory is anywhere close to accurate? Nope. Still here. Haven't been a student since the Collier era. Just unfortunate luck that a job change which keeps me pretty busy happens during a magical 18 month run.

Prospects visiting Nebraska in the very near future
nustudent replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
AFAIC-this is a great pick-up. Big, looks the part, gives us help in the paint we don't have and certainly don't have if we leave it open. And if it doesn't pan out, no biggie, he's gone after this year anyways, This would be different if he had 2-3 years of eligibility left. -
I'm around. Just haven't had much time recently. But I'm absolutely elated. I don't really even have the words. What Miles has done has been nothing short of amazing. The last month and a half has been almost a dream come true. 16 long hard years of frustration of standing by following this program and it was finally re-paid. The scary thing is.....just how close we are to having an even better record this year and just how much better we look for next year. It's simply a marvelous feat by Miles at this point and I'm in awe as to what he has accomplished.
-
It was the same. I think I made one score pick...that is all

IMO, we likely won't win as easy as we did against FGCU. WIU won't be in the first game with a new coach and we won't have the emotions of opening night. We'll win...likely handily...but I see us struggling just a little more
-
If there was no new arena...there would have been a smaller amount of people to see the win. The facilities definetly play apart

Parker surprised me last night. He was noticeably quicker than last year. Still question his long term role....but he's improved and played well last year.
-
It's fun because the glass actually is half full again and not a case of us just trying to see it that way to make ourselves feel better. Miles' midas touch continues to just be shocking to me.

Just an amazing night. The arena, the pre-game (sans Bon Jovi), everything about the atmosphere of the arena (not the concessions). Amazing. How Tim Miles can completely change the outlook of this program in less than 18 months. Amazing. How we beat a Sweet 16 team, without 2 of our top 3 guards, by 24 points....Amazing. For the first time in a long long while...let's say about 15 years....we actually have something tangible to make us believe. None of this trying to convince ourselves stuff....there are real reasons for hope. I kept waiting for the bubble to burst. Everything seemed so perfect since the day Miles started. And this night not only met, but exceeded the expectations. Still think we are missing another big guy from really being a special team this year....but this team is going to be real fun to watch and real competitive

Some may think I'm weird...but I'd start Peltz. Move Tai to 2. Start Petteway at 3 and Shields at 4 and then Smith or Pitchford at 5. I stagger their minutes. I like Peltz more than Parker. Better rebounder and defender. Doesn't get careless with it.
-
Tyrance...impacts us none. Gallegos...could kill us against FGCU with Biggs already being out that game. Hawkins...IMO, impacts us none as I expected a redshirt out of him anyways

Peltz wasn't listed...but I think he plays over Parker
