The player was in the arc, again (I know that is a rumored rule, anymore), and he was falling down before Taylor even touched him. It seems like every time we play these guys, they get called for close to nothing all game.
Not only that, but before Jordy touches him, the Wisconsin player grabs his arm.
This is ridiculous. Nebraska touches a Wisconsin player and it's a foul. Happ shoves Okeke away from the ball, and that's not a foul?
If only Iowa would take Fran's intensity and relay it to the defensive end. They have to be one of the worst defensive teams in the country. Fran must decide that defensive play is a suggestion.
Ever since the MSU game, we have played pretty well defensively. We are allowing 71.1 PPG. The teams we have played during that stretch have avg. 80.2 PPG during the season.
Keep playing defense, and we should be able to take care of enough on offense to win a good majority of games. We already played 2 of the toughest defenses in the Big 10 (MSU and PU)
It's kind of tough when they guard Watson 90 feet, and ride him all the way down the court with no foul call. Then, Nebraska does the same thing, it's a foul on Watson.
We're not going to face many better defenses than Purdue. We're not going to face many better defenses that can knock down the offensive guys without getting fouls called on them than Purdue.
It seemed like the last 8 minutes, the calls started going both ways. I think it might be some homerism from us, but it did seem like they were one sided that 1st 12 minutes.
I would like to see us press some. See how they handle the press. See if we can get some easy baskets. Make the big guys run the floor. Wear them out that way. We actually haven't done as bad as I thought on defense. The shooting percentages are nearly identical. Where we are getting beat is on the boards. Has allowed 8 more shot attempts by Purdue. Clean that up, and we can hopefully be within striking distance at the end.
