How does it take teams a half to figure out to stop shooting 3's, and get down low.

A lot of that defense was due to the pace we played at. We played at an incredibly low pace. The only calculator that I found for possessions showed we averaged 47.3 possessions per game. Crazy low. We were 4th in the Big 12 in 3 point percentage defense. We are going to have higher numbers than that year just due to the possessions. Like you said, we have a little more bulk, with experience. I think Doc will get these guys to play solid defense. Looking at ISU's numbers when Fred was coaching, it looks like their defense was lousy their 1st year, but turned things around the 2nd year.

It's lack of size. Hopefully, with the 3 transfers sitting out we get more of a chance to not have to help down low. We defend the 3 pretty well. We have to use the Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin strategy of letting them shoot 3's and hoping they are not on. It worked vs. Purdue and Iowa, but not against Wisconsin. I just looked at our conference stats. We are letting opponents shoot 30.7 % from 3 (good for 5th in the Big 10). We are letting opponents shoot 54.6 % from 2 (dead last in the Big 10. Iowa is 2nd to last at 52.5 %).

We can't make lay-ups. I got my hopes up after a good 1st half. I should have saw we shot 50 % in the 1st half. Knew that wasn't sustainable.
