Well, at least we decided to play like poop in the 1st half, so if we want to go to bed now, we can.

Carstens is the worst ref in the country. Wesson just shuffled his feet 3 times. Shoved Cross out of the way. And, Nebraska gets the foul called by him from half court when the play is under the basket.

Maybe we should try guarding someone. Might be a good idea.

I think so. The announcers didn't even know what was going on. I know we had it called a bunch the first 1/4 of the season, then it just stopped.

I'm hoping we get this bullpen situation figured out, quickly. Once we defined a weekend rotation, and our bullpen roles, we had a solid staff last year. We had a solid three in Waldron, Fisher, and Eddins. We had a good freshmen weekday starter who struggled with inconsistency. Once we got Palkert, Shay, and Gomes as key members of our bullpen we had one of the better staffs in the Big 10. We need to get length from our starters (I have no idea why quality starters have fallen out of favor in MLB for bullpen days). Once we figured out our rotation, they averaged 6 innings a start. That means we only needed on average 9 outs from the bullpen. Palkert was a multi inning guy,. If we can get 6 innings a start (no reason for that to not be the case, since we get 5 from starters now), we can get guys who maybe can dominate one inning, a good role. Outside of last night our offense has been good. Just need to get pitching and defense figured out.

Yes, Hellstrom looked awful. This whole team looks awful right now.

Gomes pitching well was the highlight of the night. I was getting worried about his mindset after the homerun last year.

Chick also needs some blame. We should have been out of it with 0 runs.

Our defense is flat out atrocious. How was that not an error on Roseberry?

I don't mean to call players, but Chick needs to DH. The guy has not improved on defense. Bo gets a tailor made DP ball and he can't get the ball out of his glove. He has 3 errors already this year.

Wow. We make boneheaded plays. We have a 5 run lead and we try to make a tough throw instead of getting an out. We run the runner towards home instead of throwing it home and running him back to 3rd. Just frustrating. I can only hope we turn it around, but those people who picked us to finish 8th might not be as foolish. We need to start playing much better.

I'm trying to tell myself this team will get better once we get outside more. But, after this display, I don't know. How can you blow a 7 run lead?

Even though it benefits us tonight, that rule is pretty stupid. It should be a ball and let's play on.

Who thought Michigan would make the CWS last year. They were the last team in the field and got hot at the right time. Really, we were 1 out from a regional final. I would like to see us get a national seed with hosting a regional and super regional.
