Tells you something when Iowa players and fans complain about a ridiculously obvious foul finally being called on them -

Did not think it was possible for me to dislike an Iowa player more than Ryan Bohanon but Payton Sandfort is just as unlikable -

Freeman traveled 2 or 3 different times in that last possession -

Yeah and then failed to close out on D. I like giving him minutes but he killed us at the end of the half tonight -

Great win today. Very gutty performance against a solid team. Very good crowd as well - especially for a game without students. Agree with the comment made above about what I would have said about our chances without Connor making a shot. Thought he actually had better shot selection today - but they just wouldn't fall. But he played hard and impacted the game anyway. Really everyone that played made a solid contribution today. Special mention though to Brice and Juwan who are the leaders and difference makers that get us to this level. Also one of Sam's best games as a Husker. He just really has a knack for finding a way to impact the game. Really fun to be a Husker fan when we are playing so well at home like we have been the last couple years - especially with the effort these teams put out on the defensive end. -
Good points. Would also say that it reinforced the need to have players willing to play defense and with great effort and not just rely on athletic "talent". Also - not trying to take anything away from Sam G. but I think the real additions that year that flipped the culture were Emanuel Bandoumel and Juwan Gary. We need to give them credit too.

Yes I can't argue with that :). Had not seen the box score before I posted and surprised by it because it felt to me that he missed more than he made last night - but numbers don't lie. Maybe I am just expecting them all to go in so I take more notice when they do not :). -

Really liked the intensity and effort on defense in the first half. True Southern is a really poor shooting team but we still won the game with our 1st half defense. Second half was a different story. Poor effort at times and really sloppy ball handling and play. But somewhat understandable given the situation where the game was essentially over by halftime. Also as said above not going to complain about a 30 point win. Connor had a lot of points but was not that efficient as he shot a lot tonight. Good to see Rollie hit a couple 3's - maybe that will get him going a little bit at least. Also great to see something positive happen for Griffiths even if it was just in scrub minutes. I continue to believe he can help us this year if we can just get him to playing even at the level he was at for Rutgers last year. -

Nice to take care of business and get the win. None of these games looked pretty but not going to complain about going 3-0 and getting a tournament win. Defense has been at an elite level for sure. -

The guy just swatted Berke's arm and no call - then they call a touch call on the other end? -

Interesting we seem to want to have Brice bring the ball down even with Rollie in the game - but he has already made 2 lazy entry passes. -

2 in a row. Maybe he took offense to my comment in the game 2 thread about his 3 point shooting being a failure this year :) -

Good points Norm. This is not a good shooting team and I think that is really going to haunt us at times. Not even close to the shooting ability we had last year. The only 3 point shooters we have are Connor and Brice. No one else seems to be any kind of threat from the perimeter. Teams are noticing that - as you said Hawaii was daring Worster to shoot 3's knowing he can't make them. As bad as he has looked at times I think we need to find a way to get Griffiths back into the rotation so we can put another shooter in the game. On the other hand this team does play really good defense - and and times we do a good job rebounding at least when Berke is in the game. Those things will likely lead to alot of ugly games. We may win some ugly ones - but I think we will get boat raced at times too by teams that have good ball movement and can shoot well. -

Nice win in a tough environment to get a win. Brice and Juwan dominated this game. Hawaii had no one that could compete with them. Also got good minutes from Meah. Rematch on Christmas from last year's Sioux Falls game vs Oregon State. Hope we can handle them as easily as we did last year. -

Hope he gets a good shot. But in this game he and Gary are just way better athletes than anyone on the floor. In the NBA everyone is big and athletic. -

Not much he could have done on that last play other than actually fall down when he got shoved. If he had flopped like the Hawaii kid did maybe we could have gotten a call (but I doubt it)
